Here I am sitting on a couch alone thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens.

The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel but what this aloof society lacks and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care.

Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth which was carved into my heart deeply.

Mr. Brownlow is one such person.

The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves Artful Dodger and Charley Bates and thought naturally it was Oliver who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful he caught Oliver and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy Mr. Brownlow took the injured poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day however Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.

Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because forgiveness is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.

Then there are Mrs. Maylie and Rose Oliver’s other benefactors. Maybe the reason they loved and cared Oliver was not because of forgiveness. In my point of view it was trust. They had faith in Oliver when he was considered to be a filthy burglar who tried to break the front door of Maylie’s at midnight. But this wasn’t how these two ladies saw the whole thing. They denied Oliver’s crime immediately and listened attentively to Oliver’s own description of his miserable life. They were deeply touched by Oliver’s strong perseverance and astonishing vitality. Accordingly they remedied Oliver’s body and heart and turned him into a different boy. He began to wear appropriate and clean suits which were tailor-made for him and receive education.

As far as we can see it is trust that helps us all live together without precaution. Sometimes trust can even lead us to miracles which we often expect to come about so why not trust? Trust yourself trust others and you’ll salute miracles every single day.

In the novel though the young Oliver again and again fell for conspiracies of those hideous thieves who tried to torture Oliver’s body and poisoned Oliver’s heart intensely he always lived on and tried hard to seek for his own life. Then I realized what supported him all through were actually beliefs. In most cases what you believe is what you’ll become. Believe that you are unlimited that you can do anything you commit to doing and when you do your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs and that is how you ultimately control your life. It’s all dictated by your attitude.

In the final analysis love and care contain numerous forms there are love of forgiveness love of trust etc. but they all come from your beliefs in life. When someone tells you he’s deceived you forgive him anyway when someone tells you what he’s done trust him anyway and when you face adversities while chasing your dreams think about your beliefs then what hinders you will become a piece of cake in no time.

So find out “Olivers” in your life and do as Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Maylie do: love them and care them which cost nothing but save much. They enrich those who receive without impoverishing those who give. They can be certain smallest words or actions but the memory of them sometimes last forever.

Charles Dickens said:“Love makes the world go around.” These immortal words have inspired and will keep on inspiring us to chant the melody of love and to say the prayer of care forevermore. Let us therefore enjoy life and treat other people lovingly. These principles are the roots and foundations of beliefs supporting this article and our mission together.

When I first read The Little Prince, I can’t understand the mean of love and never to think why should the little prince leave alone since he love his rose so deeply. Gradually the little prince was beginning to understand, because he remembered his rose and he thought his rose had tamed him. So he chose to go back to his planet in the end. This summer holiday, I read a book called Andersen Fairy Tale. The book has many interesting stories. I cant forget one of the story of this book, ugly little duck. It is very ugly, who has been bullied. It was alone, no animals would play with it. In the cold winter , it almost froze to death in the forest. However, it finally frying by its own efforts. Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Menace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Toms adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the adults approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.

The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

人总是会长大的，除了个儿长高了，身子强壮了以外，人的思想也在长。你对世界的看法不同了，懂事了，不再幼稚了。不过人是要越变越好才是。千万不能像历险记里的那个心狠手辣的坏蛋卓伊一样，他坏事做尽，人见人憎。但最后他还是恶有恶报，得到了一个活活饿死在山洞里的下场。

看完《汤姆索亚历险记》，我真羡慕汤姆能有如此有趣的经历。这本书让人看起来津津有味，甚至废寝忘食。我想，《汤姆索亚历险记》在你烦闷的时候或许能让你一笑解千愁。

《羊脂球》是短篇小说大师莫泊桑在经历了普法战争、目睹了法军的崩溃下产生的。该小说讲述了一八七零年普法战争期间，一辆法国的马车在驶离敌占区途中，被一名普鲁士军官所扣留，该军官以要马车上一个诨名为“羊脂球”的妓女陪她过夜为放马车通过的条件，羊脂球出于爱国心坚决拒绝军官的条件，然而一行中那些有身份、地位的人，为了一己私欲，将羊脂球往火坑里推，羊脂球迫于无奈，只好向军官妥协。可这些有身份的人在达到目的之后，就显现出了本来的面目，对羊脂球冷眼相对，不屑与她交谈。羊脂球瞬间心灰意冷，自己为了大家才无奈妥协，不曾想，不但得不到安慰与感谢，还被他们当做脏东西扔掉，当初为他们所做出的牺牲在他们看来却如此肮脏。

首先，“小说以羊脂球这样一个被侮辱、被损害的妓女形象为代表，歌颂了法国人民敢于反抗普鲁士侵略者的凛然正气，以及他们维护民族利益的爱国情操和善良热情，乐于助人的高尚品德”。①在普鲁士军官威胁羊脂球，倘若她不陪他过夜，就不让他们的马车通过的情况下，羊脂球依然为了维护自己的国家，毅然决然地拒绝军官，与他抗争到底。而《俘虏》女守林人贝蒂娜也是敢于抗争的法国人民中的一员，她用自己的智慧，独自一人徒手将七八个普鲁士士兵俘获。她们只是爱国的、勇敢的法国人的缩影，她们同样不顾自身利益，毅然与敌人抗争，但结果却大不相同，一个遭遇同伴冷眼唾弃，一个得到了父母亲的赞赏。

其次，“它以羊脂球被同车旅伴推入火坑的丑恶事件为中心，揭露了法国统治阶级的代表——商人、贵族、厂长兼参议员、修女及民主党人等上流社会的各种角色，在强敌压境、国家危急的严重时刻，首先考虑的不是国家的前途，民族的尊严，而是个人的安危和金钱上的得失。”②在现代的我们开来，上流社会的人们相较于一个妓女来说，本该更具有修养和爱国之心的，但在《羊脂球》当中却恰恰相反，这些上流社会的代表，在民族利益与个人利益冲突时，他们毫不思索的遵循着“保命哲学”③，尤其是那两个代表上帝的修女在关键时刻毫无同情心，一样为了一己私欲，将同胞推入火坑。然而在他们成功脱离敌占区后，被称作民主党人的科尔尼代悠闲的用口哨吹起《马赛曲》，其做法更令人发指。

最后，作者通过写羊脂球一举一动以及细节的描写了上流社会代表的心理，动作、语言的，将羊脂球与上流社会代表形成鲜明的对比，更有力地讽刺和痛批了上流社会人民的无情与冷漠，表达了对下层人民的同情与歌颂。作者将妓女作为主人公，充分表现出莫泊桑写作的独特视角，《羊脂球》中大多数都涉及了上流社会代表与下层人民对于同一件事的态度，来充分的表达作者想要表达的情感——揭露在资本主义下的法国不同阶级的人与人之间的人情淡漠、现实的金钱关系，以及对上流社会的抨击、对下层人民同情与是、赞美。

Oliver Twist one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’ is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist an orphan who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain such as hunger thirst beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief as was written in all the best stories the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them or Rose read to him and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded. For me the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary as the famous saying goes ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’ he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

《英语课程标准》的基本理念中提到“让学生在教师指导下，通过感知、体验、实践、参与和合作探究等活动方式，实现任务的目标，感受成功。学生在学习过程中进行情感态度和学习策略的调整，以形成积极的学习态度，促进语言实际运用能力的提高。”

这就要求我们英语老师要掌握一定的课堂和课外教学艺术，开展集趣味、知识、娱乐、教育于一体的英语活动，能为学生提供尽可能多的语言实践机会。教师要用直观形象的形体语言，丰富多彩的表情，幽默风趣的语言表达，使学生在轻松、愉快、和谐的氛围中复习旧知，学习新知，提高学习信心。

教学中教师要根据教学目标，学生的需要和客观条件，创造性地探索有效的教学方法，要学会活用教法突破难点。我们可以鼓励学生大胆地模仿，带表情说句子。如“I am hungry.”（可以作饥饿状）；“I am thirty.”（可以作口渴状）。在教单词或句子时，我们老师可以带领学生做动作，甚至做夸张的动作或用夸张的朗读语调，孩子们特别喜欢。“big”两手张开画个大圈，“small”用两手指做个特别小的小圈，“strong”出示手臂，并鼓起肌肉，“thin”做一个瘦的动作。学完单词后，老师做出动作，学生就会说出这个单词。

二、多用评价语，真诚激励。

《英语课程标准》的基本理念中对评价案例进行了重新整合和调整，补充了大量的可操作性比较强的评价方式和方法，提到“英语教学中提倡过程性评价方式，把对学生的评价贯穿到平常的学习过程之中。注重培养和激发学生学习的积极性和自信心。”

因为每个学生，都渴望得到老师的重视和肯定，渴望得到激励和赞许。让每个学生都能享受到鼓励、温暖的阳光，这样无论哪种知识水平、能力、层次的学生都能获得心理上的满足，从而使学生有一种积极向上的源动力。所以教师的评价语应丰富多彩，真诚激励。下面的句子应该多说：Good! Great! Wonderful! You are clever! Don’t worry!

三、面向全体学生、尊重学生的自主选择

《英语课程标准》的教学建议中提到“尊重每个学生，建立融洽、民主的师生交流渠道。”平时学生如果主动帮我拿教具，我会向他致谢“Thank you”，若不小心撞到了学生，我会很抱歉地道声“Sorry”……虽然是点点滴滴的小事情小细节，但我希望从中带给学生“师生平等”的观念。

老师因为尊重学生而更关注他们的个性发展，学生因为受到老师的尊重会更乐意亲近老师，也就更加尊敬老师，这种心灵上的沟通和交流，一旦形成健康的双向互动，正面效应就会成倍增长，师生关系也会更加和谐地向前发展。

总之，新课程下的课堂教学，应是通过师生互动、学生之间的互动，共同发展的课堂。它既注重了知识的生成过程，又注重了学生的情感体验和能力的培养。因此，我们在教学中对教材的处理、教学过程的设计以及评价的方式都要以学生的发展为中心，以提高学生的全面发展为宗旨，这才是课改的最终目标。

She was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as “If you please” “Thank you” which was very charming. So, not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her. There was a time when Sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school. In spite of this, she had never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured. Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter when, Sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had accomplished a GREat deal of miracles over and over again.

After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring.

Truly, every girl is a princess coming into common life. The “princess” I mean is not a princess living in the palace and being regarded as the apple of everyone’s eye. As the matter of fact, the “princess” is at heart. I am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess. The way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple. Just suppose! You can suppose yourself to be a princess, and go about your business confidently without caring how the others would treat you. If you want to have more resemblance to a princess, be more kind and try your best to help the people in need. The most important thing you are supposed to do is that to feel like a real princess at any occasion, particularly when you are involved with enormous melancholy.
