东台海上风电场是世界上单体最大的近海风电场，于2010年下半年在东台海域开工建设。东台海岸线长85公里，连陆滩涂、潮间带、暗沙区域开发空间广阔，可建成400万千瓦特大型风电场。预计到2016年，东台风电总规模达100万千瓦、年发电量20亿千瓦时以上，年减排二氧化碳226万吨。其中，三期海上风电项目在东台东沙岛东侧150平方公里海域，是世界单体最大的近海风电场，拟选用3。6兆瓦海上风机84台。
