在这部小说中，约翰是除了男女主人公以外最令我印象深刻的了。他是一个牧师，帮助穷人，甚至放弃自己安逸的生活只身前往非洲，将自己的终生奉献给需要帮助的人。他无疑是高尚的，伟大的，他的灵魂是纯洁的自由的，他清楚的知道自己的目标，并且愿意为之付出一切。但在对简爱的感情上，他又是自私的，自私的希望简爱和他结婚，去非洲帮助穷人，将自己的意愿强加在他人身上。最终他也是尊重简爱的，独自面对贫穷苦难。这样的他同样值得尊敬。他信仰宗教，将一生奉献给宗教，他是否自由，大概只有他自己才知道了。

罗切斯特先生的前半生就是一个悲剧，他没有简爱敢于抗争的精神，遵从了父亲的安排娶了一个疯掉的妻子。他与简爱爱情的障碍，因为这个疯女人，他变得不行。但罗切斯特的善良还是使他愿意去就一个疯女人，并为此落下残疾。也是因为他的善良，最终能和简爱在一起。

读完这本书，心中有万般感慨，也教会了我自尊自爱自强不息。

《简爱》这部作品让我看到了人类之间的感情，有人们追求金钱黑暗，有“灰姑娘”为爱情的奋斗，我更看见了，简那颗感恩之心。
