It is a "spring" festival, and it is an occasion for the whole family to leave the home and to sweep the graves of their forebears. Chinese being practical people this sweeping of the graves is given an extended period, that is, 10 days before and after Qing Ming day. Among some dialect groups a whole month is allocated.

清明节是一个纪念祖先的节日。主要的纪念仪式是扫墓，扫墓是慎终追远、郭亲睦邻及行孝的具体表现;基于上述意义，清明节因此成为华人的重要节日。清明节是在仲春和暮春之交，也就是冬至后的106天。扫墓活动通常是在清明节的前十天或后十天。有些地域的人士的扫墓活动长达一个月。

ORIGIN(起源)

Qing Ming is popularly associated with Jie Zi Zhui, who lived in Shanxi province in 600 B.C. Legend has it that Jie saved his starving lords life by serving a piece of his own leg. When the lord succeeded in becoming the ruler of a small principality, he invited his faithful follower to join him. However, Jie declined his invitation, preferring to lead a hermits life with his mother in the mountains.

Believing that he could force Jie out by burning the mountain, the lord ordered his men to set the forest on fire. To his consternation, Jie chose to remain where he was and was burnt to death. To commemorate Jie, the lord ordered all fires in every home to be put out on the anniversary of Jies death. Thus began the "cold food feast", a day when no food could be cooked since no fire could be lit.

The "cold food" festival occurs on the eve of Qing Ming and is often considered as part of the Qing Ming festival. As time passes, the Qing Ming festival replaced the "cold food" festival. Whatever practice is observed，the basic observation of Qing Ming is to remember ones elders by making a special effort to visit their graves, ashes or ancestral tablets. To make the visit even more meaningful, some time should be spent to remind the younger members of the family of the lives and contributions of their ancestors, and the story of Jie Zi Zhui who choose death over capitulation.

谈到清明节，有点历史知识的人，都会联想到历史人物介子椎。据历史记载，在两千多年以前的春秋时代，晋国公子重耳逃亡在外，生活艰苦，跟随他的介子椎不惜从自己的腿上割下一块肉让他充饥。后来，重耳回到晋国，作了国君(即晋文公，春秋五霸之一)，大事封赏所有跟随他流亡在外的随从，惟独介子椎拒绝接受封赏，他带了母亲隐居绵山。

晋文公无计可施，只好放火烧山，他想，介子椎孝顺母亲，一定会带着老母出来。谁知这场大火却把介子椎母子烧死了。为了纪念介子椎，晋文公下令每年的这一天，禁止生火，家家户户只能吃生冷的食物，这就是寒食节的来源。

寒食节是在清明节的前一天，古人常把寒食节的活动延续到清明，久而久之，清明取代了寒食节。拜介子椎的习俗也变成了清明扫墓的习俗了。无论以何种形式纪念，为了使纪念祖先的仪式更有意义，我们应该让年轻一代的家庭成员了解先人过去的奋斗历史，当然，还要学习介子椎宁死不屈的气节。

Im so happy today because I got RMB 3,000 in "Lucky Money. "Grandpa alone gave me RMB 1,000. I must try to save this for college though and not waste it. But I think Ill allow myself to use part of it to buy a new dress tomorrow and then Ill put the rest un the bank.

暑假里，我和爸爸妈妈一起去青岛的崂山游玩。

我们来到崂山脚下，抬头一望，啊，崂山真秀丽啊！苍翠的群山重重叠叠，连绵起伏，犹如一条巨龙在飞舞，让人看了心旷神怡。

我们沿着蜿蜒的山路一边走一边观赏风景。小路两旁的树木长得葱葱茏茏，茂盛的枝叶绿得要滴下水来。岩石边、草地上各种各样的野花竞相开放，有红的、白的、黄的、紫的，争奇斗艳，好像在比赛看谁最漂亮。美丽的蝴蝶和蜻蜓在花丛中轻盈地飞舞着，我忍不住追着它们跑来跑去地去捉，可是它们调皮极了，我累得满头大汗却一只也捉不到。小鸟在枝头叽叽喳喳地叫着，好像在说：“欢迎你啊，小朋友！”我们脚下，小溪淙淙地流着，像一条银白的丝带，唱着欢乐的歌，陪着我们一路走着。

走着走着，我看见前面有一个浅浅的大水潭，水清澈见底，潭里布满了形态各异、大小不一的岩石，很多游人在水潭里欢快地嬉戏，有的在爬石头，有的在打水仗，有的在呲水枪。我也迫不及待地脱下鞋，卷起裤腿，光着脚丫跳进水里尽情地玩起来。不一会儿，我全身都湿透了，像个落汤鸡似的，但我玩得可高兴了。

Of all the festivals in China, Dragon Boat Festival is my favorite. When the Dragon Boat Festival comes, not only the family will pack the zongzi, but some communities or units will organize the group to carry on the game of zongzi. Many water towns will organize a dragon boat race, which is magnificent and spectacular.

When I was young, my mother told me that the Dragon Boat Festival in the 5th day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar was first to commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan, which gradually took the day as a holiday. My father told me that Qu Yuan is a Chu state living in the past 2000 years. He is a great poet and patriot and a loyal minister. In order to the people can live a happy life, he dared to point out the king was the wrong thing to do, so the old people loved him. But when the new king came to power, he was unconscious, and did not listen to Qu Yuans advice and claim, and lost an important battle with the state of Qin. The state of Chu was occupied by the state of Qin. After Qu Yuan heard the news, he died in the Miluo river. The local people are afraid that the fish in the river will eat Qu Yuans body, so they can put rice dumplings and other food into the river. After the death of Qu Yuan, the local legend went to the sky on a dragon boat. In China, people like Dragon Boat Festival very much. Now people in the city are busy with their own work, so they cant sell their zongzi Festival, so they go to various supermarkets to buy. In the supermarket there are many types of dumplings, rice dumplings with bacon, candied dumplings, dumplings and so on, very much the pattern. After the dumplings are cooked in a pot, open the lid of the pot and smell it. One day, I met a puppy on the road, and I thought the puppy was so cute that I took it.

At home, I treat my puppy as a friend, and it doesnt feel a little strange to me. We get along well. In my opinion, career and family are not in opposition to each other. Rather, they can enhance each other so that one’s life can become better and better. Therefore, it’s not a choice between right and wrong, but one between ideal and practical.
