A day out with my family

At Mid-Autumn Festival, more than 12 million people climbed Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou. I went there with my father, mother, grandpa and my uncle’s family too. In the morning my father drove the car and we set out.

When we got there, it was lunch time. Baiyun Mountain looked very beautiful. Everywhere was clean and tidy. We could see green plants and colorful flowers here and there. Red lanterns were hanging on both sides of the road. But it was very crowded on that day. So after lunch, we decided to go up by cable car.

Baiyun Cableway is the first cable cars for sightseeing in our country. There are 80 cable cars, each can sit 6 people. The lower station is set up east of Yuntai Garden and the upper station at the Peak Park. The cars passed by such scenic spots as Pu Valley, ‘barbecue zone’, Nengren Temple and so on. When gazing into the distance, the scenery of the City is right before our eyes.

In the afternoon we were at the Peak Park. We felt very relaxed and happy. I ate and drank and played bubble-blowing with my cousin. Baiyun Mountain is a good place to play too.

Going straight ahead, we came to Mount Davis. It is the highest peak of Baiyun Mountain. We climbed the summit of Mount Davis, overlooking the whole city.

春节是我们最传统的节日，也是每家每户都过的节日。大家要准备鞭炮、春联、年画、吃的、灯笼和衣服。每当过春节的时候，也是我的心情最高兴的时候。

过春节时，每家每户都要准备很多东西，你看大街上的人人山人海显得喜气洋洋。妈妈和我去买年货，我们买了春联买了年画等很多东西。最让我高兴的是我买了一些鞭炮。妈妈还给我买了新衣服。年货买回来了，我们要把家里打扫得干干净净的，妈妈一早就把灯笼挂了起来，爸爸也把春联和福字帖到门上，我把干果都放进盘子里，摆放的整整齐齐的。

年三十那天，妈妈给我穿上了新衣服，我高兴极了!下午的时候爸爸、妈妈一起做好多我爱吃的菜，一起吃团圆饭时全家人都很开心。吃过团圆饭全家人坐在一起看春节联欢晚会，节日很精彩，有小品、有歌曲、还有歌舞。大人们都在包饺子。快十二点了，外面响起了鞭炮声。我和爸爸拿着鞭炮下了楼，到了楼下我闻到了烟火味，我们放了很多鞭炮，我还放了一个烟花。刚一点就连忙跑了回来，等了一会还没着就问爸爸怎么还没着啊!我去看一看吧!爸爸说：“不行小心崩着 ”，我说：“我会小心的 ”我去从点了一下，终于点着了，那五颜六色的鞭炮就像在空中盛开的花朵，美丽极了。放完了鞭炮，我们吃起了饺子，开始拜年了，每人都给了我压岁钱。

新的一年开始了，希望全家人都能幸福。希望我的学习进步。

In the past twenty years, China has faced three American presidents, but till coming to Yale today, I never realized that China really just faced one university. Although, through these three presidents, I understand that the quality of Yale graduates is not so even.

在过去的二十年中，中国一直在跟美国的三任总统，但是今天到了耶鲁，我从来没有意识到，中国真的面临一个大学。虽然，透过这三位总统，我的理解是，耶鲁大学的毕业生的质量甚至是不。

Let me begin my main subject and let me give it a title, called “My Story and the Chinese Dream Behind It”. I want to talk about five particular years. The first is 1968. That year I was born. But it was also a chaotic year for the world. In France, there was this huge street disturbance, and in America, too. Then President Kennedy was assassinated. However, I really did not cause all of these! But that year what we remember more was the assassination of Mr. Martin Luther King. Although he fell that year, his words “I have a dream” stood up, not only stood up in America, but across the whole world.

But sadly, not only for me, but for almost all Chinese, we did not know such a dream. It was hard to describe each Chinese as having his or her own dream. China and America were so far apart, no less far apart than the Moon and the Earth. But I didn’t care about any of that. All I cared about was could I have a full meal. Clearly, I was born at a very inconvenient time, not only for China, but even for the world, there were problems.

但可悲的是，不仅是我，但几乎所有的中国人，我们不知道这样一个梦想。很难描述每一个中国人拥有自己的梦想。中国和美国是到目前为止分开，没有比月球与地球相距远不如。但我不在乎那些。我关心的是我能吃上一顿饱饭。显然，我是出世在不方便的时间，不仅对中国，而且对世界，有问题。

Chinese food is famous all over the world, if you ask a foreigner how about Chinese food, they will be full of praise。

中国的美食在全世界都是出名的，一提到中国食物，他们都会赞不绝口。

When we see the movie, Chinese food is praised by the people. Recently, there is a famous movie called A Bite of China, the movie is popular, it introduces Chinese food from different places. The audience is attracted by the delicious food, they never thought Chinese food would be so various. Now the second part of the movie has been made out, more and more Chinese traditional food has been introduced. After appreciating the movie, I begin to learn more about Chinese food, I want to have taste of them. I am so proud of our food, when we talk about it to foreign friends, we can feel their favor of our food. The food is part of our culture, they should be inherited.

当我们看到电影时，中国的食物广泛受到人们的赞扬。最近，有一部很出名的电影叫《舌尖上的中国》，电影很受欢迎，介绍了来自中国不同地方的食物。观众受到了这些美味的食物吸引，他们从来没想到中国的食物可以有这么多的种类。现在电影的第二部分也已经上映，介绍了越来越多的中国传统美食。欣赏了电影以后，我开始学着了解更多中国的美食，我想要尝一尝。我为我们国家的食物感到自豪，当我们和外国朋友讨论中国食物时，我们能感觉到他们对我们食物的喜爱。这些食物是我们文化的一部分，应该要传承下来。

nowadays， more and more people like to travel in their holidays。 the other day i read a report about the ways people spend their holidays。 it is reported that in recent yiars several new holiday habits have been developed。 among them， the most interesting one is the growth of the so-called holiday camps。

from the report we can see that in 1990，40 percent of people stayed at home for holidays。 but now the proportion has reduced to 9 percent。 more people go out for fun。 the proportion of camping and traveling abroad was increasing steadily， from 10 percent in 1990 to 38 percent in 2002， and 12 percent in 1990 to 26 percent in 2002 respectively。 people enjoy the fresh air， clean water and green hills when they go camping in the suburbs。 in 1990，38 percent people enjoyed going to the seaside while in 2002 only 27 percent prefer to go there。 what great changes!

why did those changes appear? i think there are several reasons。 first， it s because people can afford traveling。 second， people prefer to pursue a high-quality and colorful life。 third， their attitudes to relaxation have changed。 less people want to save much money by leading a simple life。 in short， peoples living standard today has been rising greatly。
