Lying at the center of Beijing， the Forbidden City， called Gu Gong， in Chinese， was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987， the Palace Museum is now one of the most popular tourist attractions world wide.

Construction of the palace complex began in 1407， the 5th year of the Yongle reign of the third emperor of the Ming dynasty. It was completed fourteen years later in 1420. It was said that a million workers including one hundred thousand artisans were driven into the long-term hard labor. Stone needed was quarried from Fangshan， a suburb of Beijing. It was said a well was dug every fifty meters along the road in order to pour water onto the road in winter to slide huge stones on ice into the city. Huge amounts of timber and other materials were freighted from faraway provinces. Ancient Chinese people displayed their very considerable skills in building the Forbidden City. Take the grand red city wall for example. It has an 8.6 meters wide base reducing to 6.66 meters wide at the top. The angular shape of the wall totally frustrates attempts to climb it. The bricks were made from white lime and glutinous rice while the cement is made from glutinous rice and egg whites. These incredible materials make the wall extraordinarily strong.

Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family， it is the dominant color in the Forbidden City. Roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles; decorations in the palace are painted yellow; even the bricks on the ground are made yellow by a special process. However， there is one exception. 兵马俑，又称秦始皇陵兵马俑，位于中国陕西省西安市临潼区东5公里的下河村。秦兵马俑坑位于秦始皇陵封土以东约1.5公里处，普遍认为秦始皇兵马俑位于秦始皇陵的外围，有戍卫陵寝的含义，是秦始皇陵有机组成部分。1975年7月10日，陕西省临潼县发现秦代兵马俑。秦始皇陵及兵马俑坑也被誉为“世界第八大奇迹”。

从坑外面的介绍上来看，原来的兵马俑一出土时，全部都是色彩鲜艳的陶俑。由于当时技术不发达，出土后没有保存好。秦兵马俑中，陶俑的身高比真人偏高。不过一部分已经被破坏。破坏这些兵马俑的最大嫌疑犯是西楚霸王项羽。项羽火烧了阿房宫后，无意间冲进了兵马俑坑。当时，秦朝的青铜器是有名气的，其尖锐和锋利，我们现在的刀具都难以与之相比。项羽看见这些陶俑和他们手上的兵器，让军士们把陶俑烧坏，并夺走陶俑手上的兵器给自己使用。所以，现在我们看到的兵马俑好多都被损坏了，而且手上一件兵器也没有。

我们首先进入的是秦俑的三号坑。这个坑是三个坑中占地面积最小的。三号坑位于一号坑西端北侧，与二号坑东西相对，南距一号坑25米，东距二号坑120米，面积约为520平方米，整体呈凹字形，由南北厢房和车马房组成，车马房中有一辆驷马战车及四件兵马俑，三号坑共可出土兵马俑68个。从3号坑的内部布局看，应为一二号坑的指挥部。三号坑是三个坑中唯一一个没有被大火焚烧过的，所以出土时陶俑身上的彩绘残存较多，颜色比较鲜艳。导游告诉我们，这个三号坑是指挥部，属于机密之地，商量军机的重地。所以，别的坑都有八个运输口。唯独三号坑只有一个运输口。以防入口太多，机密会泄露出去。运输口的门口，两排士兵面对面的站着。一排士兵4个人。这里一旦要是进来了，就不能出去。因为不怕一万，只怕万一。谁知道你是不是奸细?如果强行出入的话，门口的士兵有权把他杀死。从这里可以看出当时秦始皇的军队军纪有多么的严明。据说，当时有点封建迷信。出征时都要焚化一只鹿角来占卜此次出征的凶吉。如果显示凶，则不出征。所以，秦兵一直被称为常胜之师。

秦兵马俑在我国西安的临潼出土，它举世无双，是享誉世界的珍贵历史文物。兵马俑不仅规模宏大，而且类型众多，个性鲜明。你们看，那身材魁梧、头戴 冠、身披盔甲的就是将军俑。看他那神态自若的样子，你们是不是觉得他重任在肩呢？下面我们来看看武士俑，他们平均身高就有1。8米，他们手持兵器，整装待发。再看看骑兵俑，上身穿着短甲，下身呢？穿着紧口裤，足登长靴，右手执缰绳，左手持弓箭，时刻准备上马冲杀。

这么多兵马俑，他们都神态各异：有的颔首低眉，若有所思，像在考虑如何互相配合，战胜敌人；有的紧握双拳，是不是像听候号角，待命出征？有的凝视远方，好像在思念家乡的亲人。我们走到他们的身边，似乎能感到他们轻微的呼吸声呢！

中国文化，源远流长，这是二年前看到爸爸从古城西安带回来的碟片后，留下的深刻印象。亲眼目睹展示中华民族智慧与文明的兵马俑珍贵文物成了我的一个梦。今天，我终于能圆这个梦了，嘉兴博物馆正在展出秦兵马俑等一系列文物，爸妈答应陪我一睹它们的风采。

刚走进展厅，我就被那形态各异的兵马俑吸引住了。这些兵马俑用“惟妙惟肖”来形容真不为过，你看那一个个兵马俑的面部表情都不一样，喜、怒、哀、乐都琳漓尽致地表现出来了，真可谓千人千面、千姿百态啊。再细看俑头上的发，挽结的走向及一丝丝的头发都缕缕刻出，真是栩栩如生、活灵活现。

往右看，一个高大、威武的将军俑展现在眼前，他是俑中级别最高者，到目前为止，所有俑中只有七个将军俑。将军俑与武官俑、士兵俑的最大区别是头戴易鸟冠，铠甲的甲片小，制作精美，前胸、后背、双肩有花结，与现在实行的军衔星级有一定的继承关系，由此可见中华民族悠久的历史和深厚的文化底蕴。那将军俑深邃的目光及众多兵马俑震撼人心的气势，不正象征着我们中华民族气吞山河、团结一致、奋发图强的伟大精神吗?
