In my early years, I did not see the value of education.

When I was going on thirteen, I started to run my own shop. From then on, I worked hard to become a successful businessman.

One day I realized the importance of the English language in the business world and started taking night classes.

I was able to communicate well with foreign customers after two years of English study. But I started to feel that, in the long run, having a limited knowledge of English was not enough to make my business successful. When I was eighteen, I had to make a decision to continue doing business or go back to school. There was one obstacle keeping me from getting an advanced education. I had only completed elementary school up to that point. I then went back to senior high school after four months of tutoring in different subjects. Being at school for the first time after so many years was somewhat embarrassing because my classmates were at least two or three years younger than I. I concluded that my age did not matter. The important thing was getting into college.

I took the College Entrance Exams. Although my math exam result was only one point below the required score. I never gave up hope. The following year, I took it again and received the highest score in my city. Achieving such an amazing result gave me encouragement and courage necessary to continue my education to the next step.

I am now in my second year of college and know that it is never too late to learn. My passion for studying and improving myself will never come to a halt as long as I continue to live.

Oh God! I think I was about seven and half when my sisters and I pulled this stupid stunt. I remember watching television with them and the show on happened to be our favorite program to watch. All of a sudden we heard my brother, Chris, yelling from the backyard. So we all headed out there to see what happened. When we finally located him, he was in a tree hanging from the highest tree branch. Crying, he explained to us that he had climbed up the tree and couldn‘t get down. We thought, okay, one of us should climb up and get him off, but we couldn‘t manage to get him moving down.

It was then my youngest sister, Ka, who was five and a half at the time had seen a similar situation. She suggested we grab a sheet, hold it under the branch Chris was hanging off of, and tell him to drop so we can catch him. My other sister, Yams, who is one year younger than me, peered at me to confirm the idea and I said "Yeah, let‘s try that".So we grabbed a sheet from the closet and went to hold it beneath the tree. Now mind you, the ages holding this blanket were ranging from seven and a half to five and a half, thus the sheet was probably being held up to our waist and also close to touching the ground. Today my mom is busy, she asked me to go shopping for her. She gave me a shopping list and money. I went to the supermarket, bought a roll of toilet paper, a cake, a large bottle of milk, and two pairs of socks. I put them my schoolbag, because the plastic bag is bad for environment. I was very happy to go shopping, I am glad that I can help mom.

今天妈妈很忙，她让我去帮她买东西。她给了我一个购物清单和钱。我去到超时，买了一卷卫生纸，一个蛋糕，一大瓶牛奶，还有两双袜子。我用书包装它们，因为塑料袋对环境不好。我去买东西感到非常快乐，我很高兴能帮到妈妈。

今天我们上了一节十分有趣的英语课。

上课前，老师先画了一张表格，上面有着许多的单词。我们都好奇老师要做什么。她一边画一边解说游戏规则：如果我们回答问题对了就可以随便抽一个格子，然后由老师告诉我们格子里是加分还是减分。如果是加就给自己小组加分，如果是减就给自己小组减分。

游戏开始了，老师让我们做好准备。同学们个个聚精会神，手臂半抬着，就怕自己举手速度慢了。“strict！”话音一落，全班就齐刷刷地举起手来，可是陶来凤还是比其他人要快两秒。老师请她上台回答刚才词语的意思，并找出这个词语。下面同学故意说一个错误的答案，来误导陶来凤。但她仍然坚持着自己的想法，她答对了，台下一片掌声。该她抽格子了，只见她用左手蒙上双眼，右手停在黑板上，久久不愿意点下去，一分钟、两分钟……她还是不抽格子，老师开始数：“十、九、八……”就在最后两秒钟，她终于做出了选择。“加五十分！”老师大声宣布答案。陶来凤和她的小组成员高兴得跳了起来。

大家看到陶来凤组的分数就催着老师继续出题。这一次老师改变了游戏规则：每组选一名同学来参加“石头、剪刀、布”的游戏，谁赢了谁回答问题。我们组派我出战。我和对面组的选手需要再用“石头、剪刀、布”选出一位参赛。我心里暗暗地想：我一定要赢，为我们组加分。我出了剪刀，对面同学出了布，我赢了。我带着高兴又紧张的心情走向讲台，紧握的手心直冒汗。“kind！”老师刚读完，我立刻说出答案，而且准确无误。该我抽格子了，我闭上眼睛心里默默祈祷着：加一百分！加一百分！然后快速抽了最中间的格子。“加十分！”老师宣布道，我顿时像一只泄了气的篮球，“唉，怎么才加十分？”有种被打入冰窖的感觉。但转念一想，加十分总比扣十分好啊！这样一想心里舒畅了许多。我又开开心心地回到座位。小组之间的PK继续进行中……

时间过得很快，不知不觉下课铃声响了。这真是一节有趣的英语课，我不但在游戏中学会了英语单词，还在游戏中懂得了：要相信自己、遇到不顺心时要换一种方式看待事情。
