This morning I got up early and went to the market to buy some vegetables instead my mother for the first time.

The market was very crowded and busy with nearly all kinds of goods on display. Some sellers were shouting at the top of their voice to attract the attention of the people. 元宵节时，吃汤圆是一大习俗。圆圆的“上元丸”象征着团圆、吉祥、美满之意。泉州的元宵丸制法独特，馅料多样：花生米、芝麻、白糖、冬瓜糖、葱头……裹上一层糯米皮，用开水煮好的元宵丸，洁白细嫩，吃香甜可口，人见人爱。

吃元宵丸，夜晚观看踩街最让人期待。歌漫表演是泉州闹元宵缺少的节目。每年来看踩街的都把原本宽敞的道路挤了个水泄不通。长长的踩街队伍，金龙舞，秧歌扭，威风凛凛的南少林武术更是精彩，妙趣横生的拍胸舞尽显风采，诙谐有趣的“火鼎公婆”，引来了的阵阵笑声。

元宵期间，泉州市区主要街道走廊上悬造型奇特、构思新颖的花灯，它成了元宵节一道亮丽的风景线。花灯的主展区设在文庙，元宵之夜，这里人山人海，灯火辉煌。今年是虎年，与虎的花灯最是显眼，广场四只卡通老虎敲锣打鼓，大榕树下面两虎威风凛凛。

与“海西”的花灯更引人注目。塔灯是东西塔的造型，柱灯是闽台缘博物馆的龙柱模型，帆船灯“海西号”“海西新视野”灯彰显海峡西岸的蓬勃发展，象征大陆渴望宝岛台湾回归的迫切心情。欣赏文庙的灯会，犹如置身于泉州的文化宝库里，让人如痴如醉，为之兴奋，为之鼓舞。

欣赏别出心裁的灯会，来天后宫里海峡两岸的“重量级”大米龟和水果龙杰作。它是闽台共“乞龟习俗”。“大米龟”由上百袋大米堆成，而“水果龙”则是用几百个菠萝连接而成，着海峡两岸祈求丰收的美好愿望。

家乡的元宵节充满了浓厚的闽南，是传统节日的组织部分，海西习俗为海峡两岸交流的平台，让两岸的心贴得更近。家乡的元宵节——海峡两岸沟通的纽带。

The 15-Day Celebration of Chinese New Year.

The first day of the Lunar New Year is "the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth."Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.

On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.

The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.

The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck.

On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.

The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success.

On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.

The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor.

The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system.

The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.
