当教练告诉我那刚满五岁的儿子：今年的市少儿乒乓球比赛你也去参加吧。

练球不到四个月的儿子就开始跃跃欲试，急切地等待赛事的到来。

这以后，每周末两个下午的一个半小时，他便绝不落下。

据教练说是非常刻苦、勤奋，一个半小时他基本是一刻不休。

许是教练逗他玩，可我这儿子却当真了，一直到去参赛，教练也还没有认真教他最起码的发球、接球等竞技技巧。

常言道：初生牛犊不怕虎。我想，就当出去长长见识吧。

在前往建瓯的途中，儿子不断问怎么还没到。

其它孩子都已经昏昏欲睡，独独他还一点睡意也没有。

以往对什么都惊奇的他而今变得非常沉默专注，且兴奋不已。

在崎岖的小道上颠簸了三个多小时，汽车终于驶进建瓯市区，而那里正下着好大的雨。

收拾停当，教练通知孩子们下午四点到体育馆熟悉场地。

孩子们就在教练和家长的安排下各自回房休息。

儿子躺在我的身边，睁大双眼，仍无睡意。

不一会儿，门外就已传来其它孩子的耍闹声，看来孩子们都实在是太兴奋了。

儿子没有临战经验，且左手区正好是其最薄弱的环节，又只能发蹦球，唯一的优势就只有扣球。

第二局儿子状态还不错，但仍以11：13再败，

这下儿子真急了，对手也毫不松懈，第三局对手连发左手球，且来势很急，儿子连连失分，急得他人还没站稳，球就已经飞出去了，儿子以5：11再输第三局。

第一场就这么结束了，儿子天真地问我：

“妈，我打得怎样?我还有希望进入决赛吗?”我安慰他：“你打得非常好，特别是扣球，棒极了!本来你是有希望赢的，可是你没有把握好机会，太急躁，不过对手也太强了。没事，今天早上还有两场可要把握住了。”

儿子开始焦急地等待下一场的到来。

这时，两个裁判微笑地望着我那心不在焉的儿子说：“孩子，没人跟你抢，站稳了想清楚了再发球，不要那么急。”

第二场马上就要开始了，我的心也跟着开始紧张起来。

这第二场的对手是建瓯队的，整个地高出儿子一个头，一出场就摆出必胜的姿势，我忙把儿子拉过来，“儿子别怕他，你有希望赢他，打好来。”给儿子吃了一颗定心丸，可我自己心里却一点儿底也没有。
