I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

And so Johnny was up, he lifted up his arrow and aimed perfectly on ten,

and so he got 100 points; his second aim missed and landed on 9; he got

100+90=190 points; he liked Hailey broke a string on the last aim too, and so

Mr. Lolo had another chance of saying the word…

Mr. Lolo: You’re out! Ha! No prize for you too, Hahahahahaha; okay…

Mr. Lolo didn’t even finished when Johnny pulled out the string from his

pocket and tied it onto the bow; then he made his aim and won the prize. Hailey

told Johnny after the competition…

Hailey: I’m sorry Johnny, I congratulate you! And you’re right, I should

have kept the string; next time I will keep one if I have a chance.

He gets an allowance. He gets $5 a week. His dad gives it to him. His dad

gives $5 to him every Friday. He spends his allowance every weekend. He usually

spends it on Friday night. He spends it at the mall. He spends it on ice cream.

He buys three scoops of vanilla ice cream.

I like rabbits. They are cute and beautiful. Their eyes are red and their tails are short. They like eating carrots and vegetables . I have one at home . It is in a small cage. On the night of new years Eve, my parents and I went to Lianhua Mountain

to visit Deng Xiaoping after the reunion. The streets are deserted, and many

people have returned to their hometown. I think of the 23rd day of the twelfth

lunar month when my grandparents were busy cleaning the house and buying all

kinds of new years products. I am curious: why is the Spring Festival so busy?

Why are so many people desperate to buy tickets back home for the new year? What

are the customs and traditions of Chinese Spring Festival? Why do my parents

take me to pay a new years visit to grandfather Deng?

With these questions, I immediately found a book about Chinese Spring

Festival folklore when I went home. The book introduces many customs, including

pasting New Year pictures. It is said that the characters in the New Year

pictures can ward off evil spirits, eat reunion dinner, legend of new year

animals, offering sacrifices to the kitchen and sweeping the Chen, meeting the

God of wealth, etc. One of the most impressive is the kitchen and sweeping the

Chen.

Among the people, the traditional Spring Festival begins on the 23rd of the

twelfth lunar month and ends with the Lantern Festival. As the saying goes, "23,

sacrifice to the kitchen official." The kitchen official is the monitoring God

of the world. At this time of year, the kitchen official will go to heaven to

report everything on earth, so the people will worship him on the 23rd of the
