八达岭长城是历来的兵家必争之地，这里海拔高度一千零一十五米。由于这里地势之险，城关之坚，也由此被称为居庸关的前哨。

毛主席曾经说过：“不到长城非好汉”。所有来到北京的人，必定来长城；所有登长城的人，必来八达岭长城。这里山峦起伏，城墙蜿蜒，呈现在眼前的是一派雄伟壮观的景象。
