However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

Last week, my teacher told us that we would have a practical activity. At first, we were happy to hear it, all of us thought that must be very funny. But when we heard that we needed to assist the cleaners with their work, we felt lost. It must be the dirty work. However, the cleaners were very nice to us, and they did their work with passion. “嘭!嘣!”正在我们吃得津津有味的时候，窗外突然放起了烟花。“现在条件好了，你看，有钱买这么多烟花!”外婆望着窗外这五颜六色的烟花，说道。“真漂亮啊!”我观赏着天空中展开的一朵朵五彩缤纷的花儿，不禁赞叹道。

吃完晚饭，我们捧着一箱箱烟花爆竹，高高兴兴地下了楼。“嘭!嘣!”我们望着自己的烟花，犹如一朵朵在空中绽放的漂亮花朵，绽放后又化作无数颗一闪一闪发光的流星，从天而降，划破黑暗的星空，逐渐消失……又如天女散花一般，无比壮丽……我们点燃了各自握在手中的小棒。顿时，大家眼前一片明亮，火光四溅。我们欢乐地舞动着手中的小棒，火焰与我们一起激情舞蹈，直到燃烧尽为止……

回到家里，春卷上桌啦。我们洗完手后，争先恐后地来到桌前，狼吞虎咽地吃起了美味的春卷。“好吃吗?喜欢多吃点，想当年连个年糕要年糕票呢，想吃没得吃!”这时，外婆笑着说。“以前真穷!不过现在好啦!我要好好读书，长大后，要让这个城市变得更繁荣富强，更现代化，更美好。我要在世博会之时，让来宾知道我们很强，知道‘城市，让生活更美好’!”我说。外婆笑得更甜了，她摸摸我的头：“真是我的小乖囡!将来肯定有出息!”我们笑了，笑得是这样的甜。

改革开放以后，我们的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化，这一切是长辈们几十年来坚持不懈的奋斗结果。我要珍惜这美好的生活，好好读书，长大后做个有出息的人，让我们的生活变得更甜蜜，更繁荣富强，更美好!

How time flies! I have studied in my school for three years. And I will graduate from middle school in a month. I am eager to share my happiness and sadness with you. I had so many memories in three years’ life. One of them impressed me very much. I still remember, when I began to learn English, I found it too difficult. No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn’t do well in it and almost gave it up. As soon as my English teacher found my problem, she had a talk with me about how to learn English well. Since then, she has kept helping me. Little by little, I’ve become interested in English and I’m good at it. I think I am so lucky to become one of her students. I’ve learned a lot from her. I will try to help others when they are in trouble. I think it is a happy thing to help others.

春节有趣的事情有很多，但是我几天要讲的一件春节趣事就是观花灯。那天，爸爸、妈妈和我一起去观花灯。还在远处，咱们就看到了一闪一闪的灯光。一定是那里了，我想。 There are many interesting things that are interesting in the Spring Festival, but a few days of interest I have to talk about is watching lanterns.That day, my father and mother went to watch the lantern with me.Still in the distance, we saw a flash of light.It must be there, I think.

“谁家见月能闲坐，何处闻灯不看来。”还没进去，咱们就看到了拥挤的人群。当咱们进去的时候，我仿佛在灯的海洋里，光的世界中。五彩缤纷、色彩繁多的花灯各具特色，让我看的眼花缭乱。成千上万的红灯笼倒映在湖面上，显得格外美丽。宫灯、走马灯数不胜数。湖面波光粼粼，白荷花灯，红荷花灯漂浮在水面上，如同仙境一般。

越来越多的人走了进来。人山人海。咱们跟随着熙熙攘攘的人群走来走去。哦，那里怎么这么挤?原来是大家在观看宝塔灯。那灯有四五米高，金光闪闪。我突然想到，那灯会不会是托塔天王的宝塔掉到了人间，就变成宝塔灯了呢?好不容易挤出人群。我又看到许多人在另一旁观赏、拍照。咱们又挤进人群。呀!这个灯可真有趣!灯的最顶上是财神，笑呵呵的。两旁站着金童玉女。手里拿着许多财宝。下面还有许多珠宝。后面还有一个牌子，上面写着“招财进宝”。这也许是财神祝大家在新的一年里能够招财进宝吧!

最引人注目的是广场中央的那个“九龙腾飞”了。这花灯看上去十分壮观。九条腾飞的巨龙盘绕在一起。顶上站着一只小老虎，象征着虎年吉祥。引来许多人拍照留恋。

月亮已爬上中天，但来观灯的人还是络绎不绝，各种彩灯就像繁星一样闪烁着。真是“一夜春花醉，只缘春意浓。”

花灯真的很美丽，而观花灯也成了我春节里难忘的一件趣事了!

There are many festivals in China，During these holidays, my favorite holiday is Chinese New Year.Not only because it’s the biggest festival in the year, but also because it’s a new beginning that brings hope to people and it’s time for family gathering.Before the festival, people come home no matter where they are.Usually, we have a big dinner on the New Year’s Eve. And then families sit together and share their lives or planes.Some will play games or hang out to have some fun.

On the New Year’s Day, people get up early and say good words to anyone they meet.Children can get lucky money from relatives.In the following days, we will visit relative’s home and bring New Year’s wishes to them.In short, it’s a time for family gathering and all of us enjoy it.

在中国，一年有很多节日，在这些节日中，我最喜欢春节。这不仅因为它是一年中最大的节日，更因为它是新一年的开始，给人们带来新的希望，也因为它是亲朋好友团聚的时刻。不管身在何方，人们总会在春节前回到家里准备过节。

通常，我们会在除夕夜吃一顿丰盛的晚餐，之后家人团座一起，分享一年以来的生活以及新年计划。有的人则会玩游戏或者出去玩。大年初一，人们通常会早起，会与见到的人说吉祥话。孩子们会得到压岁钱。在接下来的几天里，人们会带上新年祝福互相串门拜年。总之，春节是一个欢聚一堂、供人享乐的日子。

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for taking time to read this letter. As the problem of food safety has been becoming worse and worse nowadays, I am obliged to write to you.

Several days ago, one of my classmates came back from supermarket with a large bag of food. Because of having found a new style of tinned?ish in the food store, she was very glad. Several other roommates were invited to enjoy the “mouth?atering chicken”. Unfortunately, after finishing the food, all of my three friends had stomachaches and vomited, their faces having become paler and paler. Due to sensitivity to that kind of tinned food, I escaped that suffer. At that time, my mind went blank. I dialed the emergency number with my trembling hand, therefore they were quickly sent to hospital. The doctor said they were lucky to be out of danger because they did not eat too much of that rotten fish and were hospitalized on time.

This is the matter that happened around me which made me realize the seriousness of the food safety problem. I sincerely hope that the whole society could attach much importance to this issue.

春节是我国最为隆重盛大的传统节日，在腊月初旬就开始了，腊八这天，我们家乡里有些人家都会熬腊八粥，有各种豆子，谷子，等食物熬成的腊八粥，真是美味至极。

腊月二十一之际，就要开始准备年货了，买爆竹，春联，吃的，喝的等等，各种需要的都买，买年货期间商场里的人可谓是络绎不绝，每人买的年货至少都装满了一个手推车，街上五彩缤纷的，灯笼对联，到处红红的一片，街上各种各样的人都有行色匆匆的，悠闲自在的，买衣服买年货的……各种各样的货物都齐全，每个人的脸上都洋溢着喜庆快乐的神色喜气洋洋的，精神饱满。

到除夕了。这天，最重要的就是吃年夜饭，守岁，一大早，家里就开始忙起来，家家户户都张灯结彩的，小孩们也换上了喜庆火红的新衣，贴对联，放花炮等习俗都有，白天忙完之后就开始忙做年夜饭。饭做好春节联欢晚会也开始了，一家人热闹愉快的一边看春晚一边吃团圆饭，其乐融融。

接下来的这几天我们就到处做客，小孩们向亲戚说吉祥话，然后获得了满满的红包，又要想着怎么乱花。

到正月十五时，又迎来了元宵节这个高潮，这一天，每家每户还要在一起吃元宵，过年的气氛丝毫没有减弱，依旧的笑声，依旧的喜庆，依旧的开心。

再过一两天热闹的日子，春节就真正的结束了，新年也算过去了，我们把新年的留恋藏在心里，期待看下一个春节的到来。
