The story created a classic tough guy image. Tells the story of Santiago Cuba old man in the boundless sea fish caught eight days, but in the eighth day of the story, he caught a big marlin in the open sea, the old man in fighting with the marlin hand slashed, but he never give up, finally around three days later, will it uniform.

However, Santiago is not good luck, because he after uniform marlin, a grey whale sharks can smell the flavor of the marlin, he swam down to Santiagos fishing boat, ready to eat the marlin, so injured Santiago was at grey whale sharks and picked up the spear, when the moment of the assassination of grey whale sharks, have bite a piece of fish meat, grey whale shark defeated, but as a result of marlin tail meat is bitten off, so much more blood flow, it will let more sharks smell marlin, to marlin. Later, again there are two sharks come, really narrow scalloped hammerhead, shovelnose, but were Santiago uniforms, can be on the way back to Hong Kong, Santiago and ran into a large group of sharks, at this time of Santiago was exhausted, but Santiago also forcibly hold himself with the shark fight, even though he went the full, but in the end the big marlin was eaten, the old man back to the port of big marlin only a skeleton.

So I understand the life road twists and turns, long and full of challenge, but as long as our unremitting efforts, no matter the result is failure or success, is worth people respect.

After reading this novel,I learned something about how British classical upper-class behaved and their standards of choosing spouse.Even in the same family, they had various thoughts about marriage.Jane and Lizzy wanted to marry someone they really loved, while Lydia and Kitty preferred to find someone funny.Their parents thought highly of family wealth, and the young thought it less important. However, most of them still had a ranking sense. They wanted to marry someone with similar fortune, similar social position.

I love this story and enjoy reading it.

I first read "Jane Eyre" in eighth grade and have read it every few years since.

It is one of my favorite novels, and so much more than a gothic romance to me, although thats how I probably would have defined it at age 13.

I have always been struck, haunted in a way, by the characters - Jane and Mr.

Rochester.

They take on new depth every time I meet them...and theirs is a love story for the ages.

Charlotte Brontes first published novel, and her most noted work, is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story.

Jane is plain, poor, alone and unprotected, but due to her fierce independence and strong will she grows and is able to defy societys expectations of her.

This is definitely feminist literature, published in 1847, way before the beginning of any feminist movement.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the novel has had such a wide following since it first came on the market.

It is also one of the first gothic romances published and defines the genre.

Jane Eyre, who is our narrator, was born into a poor family.

Her parents died when she was a small child and the little girl was sent to live with her Uncle and Aunt Reed at Gateshead.

Janes Uncle truly cared for her and showed his affection openly, but Mrs.

Reed seemed to hate the orphan, and neglected her while she pampered and spoiled her own children.

This unfair treatment emphasized Janes status as an unwanted outsider.

She was often punished harshly.

On one occasion her nasty cousin Jack picked a fight with her.

Jane tried to defend herself and was locked in the terrifying "Red Room" as a result.

Janes Uncle Reed had died in this room a little while before, and Mrs.

Reed knew how frightened she was of the chamber.

Since Jane is the narrator, the reader is given a first-hand impression of the childs feelings, her heightened emotional state at being imprisoned.

Indeed, she seems almost like an hysterical child, filled with terror and rage.

She repeatedly calls her condition in life "unjust" and is filled with bitterness.

Looking into the mirror Jane sees a distorted image of herself.

She views her reflection and sees a "strange little figure," or "tiny phantom." Jane has not learned yet to subordinate her passions to her reason.

Her passions still erupt unchecked.

Her isolation in the Red Room is a presentiment of her later isolation from almost every society and community.

This powerful, beautifully written scene never fails to move me.

Mrs.

Reed decided to send Jane away to the Lowood School, a poor institution run by Mr.

Brocklehurst, who believed that suffering made grand people.

All the children there were neglected, except to receive harsh punishment when any mistake was made.

At Lowood, Jane met Helen Burns, a young woman a little older than Jane, who guided her with vision, light and love for the rest of her life.

Janes need for love was so great.

It really becomes obvious in this first friendship.

Helen later died from fever, in Janes arms.

Her illness and death could have been avoided if more attention had been paid to the youths.

Jane stayed at Lowood for ten years, eight as a student and two as a teacher.

Tired and depressed by her surroundings, Jane applied for the position of governess and found employment at Thornfield.

The mansion is owned by a gentleman named Edward Fairfax Rochester.

Her job there was to teach his ward, an adorable little French girl, Adele.

Over a long period the moody, inscrutable Rochester confides in Jane and she in him.

The two form an unlikely friendship and eventually fall in love.

Again, Janes need for love comes to the fore, as does her passionate nature.

She blooms.

A dark, gothic figure, Rochester also has a heart filled with the hope of true love and future happiness with Jane.

Ironically, he has brought all his misery, past and future, on himself.

All is not as it seems at Thornfield.

There is a strange, ominous woman servant, Grace Poole, who lives and works in an attic room.

She keeps to herself and is rarely seen.

From the first, however, Jane has sensed bizarre happenings at night, when everyone is asleep .There are wild cries along with violent attempts on Rochesters life by a seemingly unknown person.

Jane wonders why no one investigates Mrs.

Poole.

Then a strange man visits Thornfield and mysteriously disappears with Mr.

Rochester.

Late that night Jane is asked to sit with the man while the lord of the house seeks a doctors help.

The man has been seriously wounded and is weak from loss of blood.

He leaves by coach, in a sorry state, first thing in the morning.

Janes questions are not answered directly.

This visit will have dire consequences on all involved.

An explosive secret revealed will destroy all the joyful plans that Jane and Rochester have made.

Jane, once more will face poverty and isolation.

Charlotte Brontes heroine Jane Eyre, may not have been graced with beauty or money, but she had a spirit of fire and was filled with integrity and a sense of independence - character traits that never waned in spite of all the oppression she encountered in life.

Ms.

Bronte brings to the fore in "Jane Eyre" such issues as: the relations between men and women in the mid-19 century, womens equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith and hypocrisy (and the difference between the two), the realization of selfhood, and the nature of love and passion.

This is a powerhouse of a novel filled with romance, mystery and passions.

It is at once startlingly fresh and a portrait of the times.

Ms.

Bronte will make your heart beat faster, your pulse race and your eyes fill with tears.

Published in 1847, Wuthering Heights was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author Emily Bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure. It was not until 1850, when Wuthering Heights received a second printing with an introduction by Emilys sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back. Today it is widely recognized as one of the GREat novels of English literature.

Even so, Wuthering Heights continues to divide readers. It is not a pretty love story; rather, it is swirling tale of largely unlikeable people caught up in obsessive love that turns to dark madness. It is cruel, violent, dark and brooding, and many people find it extremely unpleasant. And yet--it possesses a grandeur of language and design, a sense of tremendous pity and GREat loss that sets it apart from virtually every other novel written.

The novel is told in the form of an extended FLASHback. After a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from Nelly Deans, a servant who introduces us to the Earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as Wuthering Heights. It was once a cheerful place, but Old Earnshaw adopted a "Gipsy" child who he named Heathcliff. And Catherine, daughter of the house, found in him the perfect companion: wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she. But although Catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. She instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all.

Wuthering Heights is a bit difficult to "get into;" the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting. But they feed into the flow of the work in a remarkable way, setting the stage for one of the most remarkable structures in all of literature, a story that circles upon itself in a series of repetitions as it plays out across two generations. Catherine and Heathcliff are equally remarkable, both vicious and cruel, and yet never able to shed their impossible love no matter how brutally one may wound the other.

As the novel coils further into alcoholism, seduction, and one of the most elaborately imagined plans of revenge it gathers into a ghostly tone: Heathcliff, driven to madness by a woman who is not there but who seems reflected in every part of his world--dragging her corpse from the grave, hearing her calling to him from the moors, escalating his brutality not for the sake of brutality but so that her memory will never fade, so that she may never leave his mind until death itself. Yes, this is madness, insanity, and there is no peace this side of the grave or even beyond.

It is a stunning novel, frightening, inexorable, unsettling, filled with unbridled passion that makes one cringe. Even if you do not like it, you should read it at least once--and those who do like it will return to it again and again.

Huckleberry Finn was a great literary work published in 1885 and written by Mark Twain. One of the most positive things about the book would be that the reading level is not very advanced and that it shows us a glimpse of the past. Along with the reading level not being very advanced, the book itself is extremely well thought out, and brings the stories, characters, and imagery to life. One of the negatives is the amount of cursing that takes place throughout the book. This is a negative because it is at a children"s reading level and it does not add any literary value to the book as a piece of history. The ugly but I believe necessary part of the book is the use of the n-word. This is a necessary part of the book because it shows to our children and everyone the meaning behind the word. If anything it makes the reader more understanding of the troubles that the slaves when though and understand the meaning of the word a little more deeply.

This book was great, a masterpiece for the lack of words to describe how entirely wonderful it is. The book was a great classic, the only reason that I did read it is because we have to read a classic for school, however, now that I have read it I realize that it was a great book. I would read this book two or three times, and I do not like reading books again. The book was really able to portray the idea of childhood innocence and foolishness in the book, especially the end. I thought that this book was really an eye opener for people who may think that life is not worth living or maybe derpessed. Because, as you can see, Huck was a young boy who had an alcoholic father who beat him all the time, even kidnapped him after he was adopted by other people. Huck even decided to run away from his father, yet he is still a young, fun loving kid in the end, especially when Tom reveals to him how the whole trip was just a game. The only thing I have to say against the book is that it did seem a little racist with its words, however maybe this is just how they talked in that time period? Overall a great read that I highly reccomend.

The impressions of reading One Thousand and One Nights

Have you heard One Thousand and One Nights? There are many interesting sorties in this book and I like Alibaba and the Forty Thieves best.

Let’s share the story together. Alibaba found the gold that the thieves hid and knew the secret .With the help of the servant, he risked his life and used the great wisdom to kill forty atrocious thieves. He avenged his brother .Though he was poor, he did not take the gold himself and gave the gold to the poor. The poor loved him very much.

From the story, I feel the power of wisdom and value of love. In our actual life, we may meet many kinds of difficulties and lure. We should face them bravely and try our best to overcome them. In my daily life, I often felt panic and cried when I met any difficulties about my study. Sometimes, I ask money from my parents but do meaningless things. I am really ashamed.

In the future , I decide to study hard .I do everything that I can do to reduce the pressure of parents .I will try my best to be brave and intelligent. I believe I can do better.

Read "one man to cherish life", so I know life is everywhere, everywhere, life is so precious! With life, there is competition and struggle; with life, there will be happiness and sadness; with life, there is hope and ideals, with life, only to cherish life.

Jack Londons love of life tells a story about life. The works show that the strong breath of nature, brave and adventurous romantic spirit, strong will and to "live" deeply attracted me, reading people excited: a western American prospectors friend cruel abandoned was on his way back, he walked alone in the vast on the moor. The winter approached, and the cold wind caught him with snow, and he had no more food, and his legs were hurt, his shoes were broken, his feet were bleeding. He can only waiwaixiexie to stumble in the swamp covered hills, stream of wasteland, very difficult to move forward. Even at the end of the day, he had to climb forward. Just after his body was very weak and fainted, his danger came! He met a wolf who was equally hungry! The sick wolf followed him closely, licking his blood. In this way, a fierce battle between life and death began! Two dying creatures dragged their dying bodies and hunted each other in the wilderness. In order to go back alive, in order to overcome this horse he sick sick wolf, although the disease is still exhausted, hungry and exhausted all efforts in unarmed combat killed a wolf, the wolfs blood to drink. Finally, by the wilderness of ice and snow, he came to the beach and was rescued by a whale ship.

The novel clearly shows a man in the wilderness through the difficult process of survival, quietly portrays life great and powerful, is a celebration of life. "Love of life" by readers of the Blitz, is not accidental, because we can see from the face of harsh environment peoples indomitable will, dare to challenge and go beyond the limit of life, to create a miracle of life. Especially people fight in bed and illness, from which we can draw the power of life. Like the hero of the book, never give up, never give up, life strangling the throat, become a powerful life.

Ostrovsky once said: "the most precious thing is life.". Life belongs to man only once." Yes, how sacred and precious life is. However, in real life, some people lament, people complain that Life is but a dream. Born Under A Bad Sign, I do not intend to live, more people say life is painful and boring, even some people because a little small setbacks on the yield. Self abandonment, mediocrity in life.

Yeah! Life is your own, we can make it valuable, also can make it valuable, also can make it intense darkness without light. Therefore, we should be responsible for ourselves, we should cherish life, let the limited life to create unlimited glory!

I think this book is worthy to reading, it make us cherish our life.

Vivid Heroine

——On Sister Carrie

Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus, she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue, the spacious square or tall buildings.

Far more different from other heroines, Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white, nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer, nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.

What attracted her most, after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries, fashion shoes, smart handbags displaying in the shop windows, the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day, she could wear all of these, jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration.

And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy, even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However, anything she got, anywhere she reached, had not come from her ambition. Things happened, and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done — just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However, she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.

That was Carrie, a girl had her own desire, a human being just like many others in the realistic world.

There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted, when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely, man will no longer vary.” However, how many people can go that further.

And I want to quote another sentence to wind up my essay:

“In Carrie — as in how many of our wordings do they not? — instinct and reason, desire and understanding, were at war for the mastery.”

In the vast sea of books, I finally found a good book my liking, or even jiang rong, it is "the Wolf totem.

Jack Ive ever read. Londons "love life" of the tenacious struggle of the sick Wolf, I read the sidonians wang lo bo the Wolf brave brave Wolf king, "Wolf totem" is the first I see the writing of this description, the research of coyotes. This work vividly portrays the coyotes movements, the prairie Wolf is a peculiar species, wisdom and brave solidarity, it is the vertical and horizontal grassland powerful Mongolian soldiers teacher. Coyotes taught them all kinds of tactics, lifestyle and pasture breeding. If there is no the prairie Wolf, Im afraid the whole Mongolian will disappear from the world.

Today, after and breadth of Mongolian wolves, freedom through nomadic grassland has a little bit, a little gradually disappear from people in your mind. If it is not the book, once memorable coyotes, will gradually fade in our life, like dust.

"Wolf totem" is a very worthy of a look book, not only wrote a fear of wolves, wrote the beautiful scenery of the Mongolian steppe. Where beauty is like a fairyland, a flock of sheep are eating grass in the lush grass, from time to time, to drink water in the lake. Trees, flowers in full bloom. Say good landscape, trees, flowers, still have to say Mr Or write well!

Book has a very classic places: plot is vivid, kind nature. The author but not where rhetoric pile, but according to your real thoughts, natural go write, very touching. The hero - Beijing educated youth, Chen has experienced many things: he cut the Wolf pups, owned a small Wolf, Wolf had fought, and Wolf also touching, and with his dear little wolves and dogs share of suffering, pain experienced youth nomad "spirit".

Now, read this, you will have one big question mark! Dont ask me, as long as open the book, the question mark will one satisfactory solution!

There are many parts I like:"The Ugly Duckling" tells of a homely little bird born in a barnyard who suffers abuse from his surroundings until, much to his delight (and to the surprise of others), he matures into a beautiful swan, the most beautiful bird of all. The story is beloved around the world as a tale about personal transformation for the better." The Angel"?, which about an angel and a dead child gathering flowers to carry to Heaven, reminds us of the punishment which we would accumulate on the ill-use and under-use of our talents and situations.

"The Little Mermaid lifted her glorified eyes towards the sun, and felt them, for the first time, filling with tears.” The Mermaids sacrifice is not incidental, or because she made the mistake of loving a human, or because she wanted a soul, or be a complete human, or as her final rite of passage.

Obviously ,as human beings and ‘children of God’, we should possess the essential goodness. The fairy tales show us about the importance of kindness, of perseverance, of obedience which we should follow in life.

I love the theme of Andersens Fairy tales : "There is no love greater than this: That someone gives his life for his friend." It also points out the importance of wisdom in a persons life. we can see more important aspects of life.

I believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. This is definitely a book everyone can relate to.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the Mississippi River called St. Petersburg. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyers life.

Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Menace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Toms adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the adults approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.

The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

For the first time to read novels GanChangMing teacher, is a very the cause of the accident. Along the river started to sing, sing sweet teacher I heaven like a snowflake, timbre round, high bright, clean voice without a bit of noise. The passionate singing let me deeply impressed.

Teacher deep in conversation, and I learned that teacher sit compose all the year round. So I put forward to gump teacher can read book. The teacher very readily agreed. A moonlight night such as water, we are on the Banks of the river in the three gorges, yichang to continue the violin of qu yuan as the singing, the teacher coming, sit quietly drops. Waiting for you the songs medley finished, in the beautiful melody of "unforgettable tonight, say the teacher take out brought novella. I took it to browse and HangShuTi GongGongZhengZheng pen, powerful and strong. What the style is the man! After breaking up, I went home in the moonlight, leaning on the bed with orange lights, read, wanting more, absorbing read. From the bottom of exhaled a voice: its a good absorption of novels. Havent read this novel. "Looking for the lost world", the novel has a very unique book title, a story is fascinating, among them the protagonist ShuCan and Ye Li, the emotional entanglement between the Guo Shuang plot ups and downs, sharp complicated conflicts between love and interests; The conflict between traditional ideas and modern concept, is in place.

Read it again, if we could not bear, but also want to read. May be time to rush, I read not carefully, but already felt between the lines in the novel are revealed with thick life breath, the drawing account, like one of his friends, or a loved one, tell yourself in life experience, his side of the story, there is no strangeness, no proper affectation, elegant, pure and fresh, has a delicate emotions, author have read and reflection on the life, is a very good work!
