I have got a lot of interesting scientific knowledge from the books of National Geographic Reading Expeditions, some of which are about life, physics. I really can’t help losing myself in the colorful pictures and clear words in the books. After reading the books, I have been considering a question: What if we lived without science? Great changes have taken place in the world with the help of science. In the past, life was nasty, brutish and short. It is hard to imagine how our forefathers could do without so many conveniences that modern science brings about. Back then, only a small group of people enjoyed the very few comforts. But the majority of people didn’t even have sufficient food, let along their privilege to be educated. Anyway, it is science that changes the world and makes people’s life better and better, although it also leads to some bad aspects at the same time.

From the discovery of the gravity to the first step on the moon, we human beings have experienced a long process of developing science. And now, this process is still continuing much faster. New organisms are already being engineered, and new genetically modified crops promise benefits from higher yields and less use of harmful chemicals and so on. A lot of examples are showing this point. In the future, changes are likely to be even much greater as science reaches out to shape life itself. Maybe one day, the possibility that life existed on Mars billions of years ago will be potentially one of the greatest discoveries of our time. It is the force of the competition, we human beings’ inquiring mind and initiative that bring about the non-stopped development of science. Therefore, it is difficult and impossible to prevent science from changing the world and our life as well.

At present, we are in two minds about science. On the one hand, we are enjoying the sweet life as a result of the evelopment of science, and expect it to continue. And we are showing our interests into some scientific expeditions, such as the astronomy, the alien civilization, etc. On the other hand, we are distrustful of it, due to the lack of understanding of science. Some people thus far are still very superstitious, and they would even believe in superstitions rather than believe in science.

Stephen Hawking, one of the most remarkable scientists in the world, once said, “In a democratic society, the public needs to have a basic understanding of the science, so that it can make informed decisions and not leave them in the hands of experts.” This has reminded me of Professor Alan G. MacDiarmid from America, the person who got the Nobel Prize for chemistry in the year of XX. In his lecture at Peking University this year, he put forward that science is people. He also expounded the importance of the basic science for the public. Evidently, every one of us does need science, or we can’t live without it.

Now that everyone needs science, why not take advantage of some means to give the public the right basic scientific knowledge? So when they face the problems such as acid rain, the greenhouse effect, nuclear weapons, environment destruction and some other problems, they can also make informed decisions on these subjects, just as what Hawking said. One aspect relies on what is taught in schools. But science is often taught in an uninteresting way and most students just learn it by rote to pass examinations. However, the final goal of learning science is not to pass examinations or to get a higher score; instead, we should try to make full use of it to change our world and life. While learning, we should try to ask more questions and we should have the courage of suspecting the knowledge in the books, as some of the scientific conclusions are likely to be corrected in the future. Who knows. So not only must we change our attitude towards science, but also the way of teaching and learning science.

那是中世纪的法国，一位叫埃斯梅拉达的吉卜赛姑娘吸引了来往行人的目光，她长得美丽动人，舞姿也非常优美。 巴黎圣母院的副主教克罗德?弗罗洛疯狂地爱上了她。于是命令教堂敲钟人，相貌奇丑无比的卡西莫多把埃斯梅拉达抢来。结果法国国王的弓箭队长法比救下了埃斯梅拉达，抓住了卡西莫多。他把敲钟人带到广场上鞭笞，善良的吉卜赛姑娘不计前仇，反而送水给卡西莫多喝。卡西莫多非常感激埃斯梅拉达。天真的埃斯梅拉达对法比一见钟情，两人约会时，弗罗洛悄悄在后面跟着，出于嫉妒，他用刀刺伤了法比，然后逃跑了。埃梅斯拉达却因谋杀罪被判死刑。卡西莫多把埃斯梅拉达从绞刑架下抢了出来，藏在巴黎圣母院内，弗罗洛趁机威胁吉卜赛姑娘，让她满足他的情欲，遭到拒绝后，把她交给了国王的军队，无辜的姑娘被绞死了。卡西莫多在把弗罗洛推下教堂摔死后，自己也拥抱着埃斯梅拉达的尸体死去了。

这是对灵魂的拷问，这是对美好的追求，只是对光明的期盼，这是现实与梦幻的交织，这是美与丑的对比，这就是《巴黎圣母院》。

我在周日看了一场电影名叫巴黎圣母院，里面讲的是18世纪法国一场伟大的杯具性感情。它的女主角名叫爱丝梅拉达，在这个可怜的以卖艺为生的她竟被黑心的教堂副教主弗罗洛给盯上了，而最后却被丑陋的敲钟人卡西莫相救。最后的结果却是那么的悲惨。还好，弗罗洛最终遭到了报应，被卡莫西亲手推下高楼而死!我真为她感到可怜。看电影时我不禁留下了悲哀的眼泪。

这部伟大的中世纪感情杯具，是由吉卜赛姑娘爱丝梅拉达引起的，当她在街边卖艺了来维持生活时，正好被有一颗恶毒心肠的教堂副教主弗罗洛给发现了。于是接下来便发生了一系列蜿蜒曲折的故事。爱丝梅拉达错误的爱上了弓手队队长弗比斯。弗罗洛却千方百计地想把爱丝梅拉达占为己有。为了正义，卡西莫毅然被背叛了他一向信奉入神的副教主。这是一种反抗，一种对当时残暴统治的反抗!

爱丝梅拉达斯死后，卡莫西抱着她的尸体死去，也算是得偿夙愿了。

电影中总是有太多让我们感动的东西，少女的热情和纯美，残疾的身体和善良的心灵。看完这部电影，我反复回想着那美丽壮观的场面，我要把卡西莫德美永远印在脑海中，以填补我那时对美肤浅的认识。

在那美丽而神圣的教堂中，竟影藏着如此丑恶的故事，更体现了当时社会歪斜扭曲的一面。巴黎圣母院是一部经典之作，它所蕴含的道理是无穷的，它的价值更是无穷的…………

汤姆虽然顽皮、淘气，但他也有一颗善良的心，他很勇敢，也非常机智。就拿书上的第二章来说吧。汤姆充分的显示了自己的聪明才智。为了能让别人帮他刷墙，他故意表现的很有意思，让他省了不少功夫，还让别人心甘情愿的给他东西，作为酬劳。而在他和哈克相遇的那天晚上，两人一起目睹了一场凶杀案，为了主持正义，不畏强暴的汤姆站了出来，揭发了印第安乔的丑陋面目，解救了波特。这点让我觉得汤姆是个勇敢的孩子。

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

I was experiencing the feeling of paradox after reading the book. I felt my eyes wet when I read his stories, about how Mr. Jobs was able to overcome the challenges in life. These are challenges that I, you, and a lot of us will never encountered, but I understand how it must feel to be in the middle of the situations, and how it must feel being hopeless. This understanding has led me to the being moved by Steve Jobs’s bra一veness and persistence. The power of his dream had proved beyond anything, illness, unfairness and death. the novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman when alone goes to sea in one fishing fished one big fish actually did not pull. the senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold although knew perfectly well very difficult to win but still did not give up. afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food but the old person still did not hope like this to give up finally highlighted encircles tightly returned to the big fish belt the fishing port lets other fishermen not admire already.

when i read " the senior fisherman think: here to the seacoast really was too near perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place... Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus, she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue, the spacious square or tall buildings.

Far more different from other heroines, Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white, nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer, nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.

What attracted her most, after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries, fashion shoes, smart handbags displaying in the shop windows, the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day, she could wear all of these, jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration.

And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy, even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However, anything she got, anywhere she reached, had not come from her ambition. Things happened, and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done — just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However, she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.

That was Carrie, a girl had her own desire, a human being just like many others in the realistic world.

There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted, when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely, man will no longer vary.” However, how many people can go that further.

I have read some parts of this nover when I was about thirteen years old,but the book was really too thick for me to read over patiently.It’s a pity that I haven’t finished it till now.But fortunately, I have watched the movie “Pride and Predudice”directed by an American film studio several months ago.

The simple but pure plot,the wonderful song,the classical custume, the luxury ball,the scene full of amorous feelings from the British country,the beatiful and stubborn actress,all of these moved me deeply.Mr. Darcy,the actor of the nover,a nobleman from the uper-classes in England,because of this , he has an inborn superiority that he looks down at every person from the lower-classes .

He don’t like neither their life style nor their way to think.Elizabeth,the actress of the nover,an obstinate,wise young girl from the lower-classes of the country.She dosen’t like anyone who is constumelious,she hates the spurs from the pride men. By these, you know,there’er lots of conflicts between them,but at last,Darcy and Elizabeth,the two different even opposite youngsters fall love .That’s very incredible.

In fact,we are always pride and think something in our mind but not right,we assess the others only depend on their background or their color of skin , we hide our true heart and pretend ,we dispise the others without any reason……But why don’t we ask ourselves in our heart or mind: what do we feel in fact? What do we need in fact? What do we hate and love in fact? Why not express our real feelings at once?Why not chase the happy we really want ?

If we can go through the hindrances that set by ourselves,if we can express the true feelings we have and say it out loudly and clearly to somebody we want to tell with, if we can give up the contumely and spurns which block us to get long well wigh the others wo love,if we can live together harmony and sincere, if ……If that day really comes,the love will come too.
