The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice(糯米)wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves) and racing dragon boats.

The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes. Thisregatta(赛舟会)commemorates the death of Qu Yuan , an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. Qu was a minister of the State of Chu situated in present-day Hunan and Hubei provinces, during theWarring States Period(475-221BC)(战国时期). He was upright, loyal and highly esteemed for his wise counsel that brought peace and prosperity to the state. However, when a dishonest and corrupt prince vilified Qu, he was disgraced and dismissed from office. Realizing that the country was now in the hands of evil and corrupt officials, Qu grabbed a large stone and leapt into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. Nearby fishermen rushed over to try and save him but were unable to even recover his body. Thereafter, the state declined and was eventually conquered by the State of Qin.

The people of Chu who mourned the death of Qu threw rice into the river to feed his ghost every year on the fifth day of the fifth month. But one year, the spirit of Qu appeared and told the mourners that a hugereptile(爬行动物)in the river had stolen the rice. The spirit then advised them to wrap the rice in silk and bind it with five different-colored threads before tossing it into the river.

During the Duanwu Festival, a glutinous rice pudding called zong zi is eaten to symbolize the rice offerings to Qu. Ingredients such as beans,lotus seeds(莲子),chestnuts(栗子), pork fat and the golden yolk of a salted duck egg are often added to the glutinous rice. The pudding is then wrapped with bamboo leaves, bound with a kind of raffia and boiled in salt water for hours.

The dragon-boat races symbolize the many attempts to rescue and recover Qus body. A typical dragon boat ranges from 50-100 feet in length, with a beam of about 5.5 feet, accommodating two paddlers seated side by side.

A wooden dragon head is attached at the bow, and a dragon tail at thestern(船尾). A banner hoisted on a pole is also fastened at the stern and the hull is decorated with red, green and blue scales edged in gold. In the center of the boat is a canopied shrine behind which the drummers,gong(铜锣)beaters andcymbal(铙钹)players are seated to set the pace for the paddlers. There are also men positioned at the bow to set off firecrackers, toss rice into the water and pretend to be looking for Qu. All of the noise and pageantry creates an atmosphere of gaiety and excitement for the participants and spectators alike. The races are held among different clans, villages and organizations, and the winners are awarded medals, banners, jugs of wine and festive meals.

What’s the purpose of life ? What are we seeking for in our short lives ? For privilege,for money ,or just for enjoyment ? It’s the problem that everyone wants to explore. As a matter of fact , everybody needs a proper purpose in order to struggle against life . A clear purpose not only guides us but also gives us hope and energy . When unknown challenges stop our steps toward the dream, our purpose will help us overcome the difficulties . Because of purpose and our efforts , we become useful for the world . Those who travel in life without direction sometimes turn confused and even lose their confidence . Considering the benefits of living a life of purpose , we seem to should establish our purpose as soon as possible . But we need to be careful to choose the purpose that will be suitable enough for ourselves .In my opinion ,the purpose of life must include two necessary aspects——Work and Love . Work is the basic purpose of our life . As a youngster,you are supposed to try your best to find the job which you love from the bottom of your heart. Then you may dedicate yourself to it with all your enthusiasm. Charles Moyers explains these :“Make sure the thing you’re living for is worth dying for . ”

On the other hand , only work is not enough to lead a life of purpose .Loving our families and taking care of friends are also indispensable parts in our life. When people really love their families ,they will surely find the purpose of life.In other words , our emotions can be surely content when we stay with our families and friends. One’s life without love is like the sky without sunshine. Work and Love play the most important two roles in the purpose for which we seek throughout our life . But other aspects such as devotion and learning knowledge also have an deep influence on our life . These things affect our behaviour and values more or less ,even though most of us can’t realize it clearly . As the saying goes :“When we do good , we feel good , and we are good.” Set the correct purpose of your life now , And you will make a difference to your life.

农历五月初五，便是端午。我是不大爱过节的，去年这时，有朋友向我祝端午节安康，我本想回个同乐，但也不太想总这样敷衍，便回了句“端午节快乐”，结果对面就和我争论起来，说端午节应当说“安康”。安康，平安健康，是个好词，可怎么就不能是快乐呢。

有关端午来历的说法不少，但就我个人而言，我并不多感兴趣，祭龙祖也好，纪念屈原也好，真假都不是我能够说得算的事情。至于安康和快乐，我想也不必要去计较，遇上我这种不爱过节的，说什么都是白搭。可端午就在那里。

碰上我这种无趣味的人，大概都是要躲着走的，结果朋友家做多了粽子，就往我这送了好几个，味道也是豆沙的，肉的，白的都的，个头不大，串成串有些可爱，还有着叶香。这粽叶可比外头卖的好，毕竟是朋友的老家带来的，他们家好过节，虽知道我的性子，但大约从没信过我的话，去她家做客时，阿姨也总是热情的很，起初我觉得十分的不自在，毕竟在家也不见得有这样温情，久了也知道阿姨和朋友都是一个性子，也就适应了。我虽不过端午，但我却不想没有朋友，于是只好收下了。我大概是要过个端午的，不，不是的，我只是不好拒绝，粽子平日里也是可以吃的。我将粽子小心的放在冰箱里，算计着是当早饭还是当午饭，要不要同妈说一声，她若是也买回来了可怎么办。不，这不干我的事，我是不过端午的。

没等我消息发出去，妈就回来了，家里没什么人爱吃粽子，家里也不怎么兴过节，妈却拿了艾叶回来，说是近来天气热，用来洗澡的，我却觉得她这钱花得冤枉。现在什么沐浴露，风油精都可以用味道驱蚊，薰艾是件麻烦事，不值当的。谁说要薰艾?我大概是逃不过端午了。

端午还可赛龙舟，今年大概是没有这项活动了，纵然有，大概也找不到屈原。端午有驱邪防疫的说法，倒是很有必要。今年特别，过个端午大概也是应该的，就大大方方等着端午来，哪怕下场端阳雨，也是要怀着希望过日子，借龙舟水洗洗。

我们又迎来了一年一度的端午节啦!真的是太开心啦!yes!我想对你们说，平时过的端午节是在快快乐乐的包粽子，赛龙舟，而我却过着不一样的，端午节!

我们家今年过端午节啥都没干。

待在家里都快要闷死啦!妹妹、妈妈在玩玩跳跳，爸爸一边玩的手机，一边看着电视。玩手机也玩得全神灌注，看电视也是哪样?嘿嘿，在爸爸玩手机玩的特别起劲时，我拿起遥控换了台我喜欢看的电视，正在这时，爸爸又抬起头来看电视，发现电视被我“调换”了，把我狠狠骂了一顿。唉!时间怎么这么折磨我呀!

没事干，没人陪我，我就走上楼，去看了看有没有什么新玩样，能给我玩儿会儿。这时爸爸可能也觉得家里待烦了，就和妈妈一起带着妹妹出去玩。他们在干嘛我都不知道，我还在楼上呆愣愣的找着东西，后来他们关门时才发现已经丢下了我自己出去玩了。我更加生气。在楼下看电视，抢我的电视，我什么都没得干。去楼上找东西，哼他们三个又偷偷溜走，也没带上我就我一个人孤零零待在家中。我还以为他们去玩不了多久，没想到从一点出去一玩就玩到了四五点才回来，回来时我问妈妈怎么回事，去了这么久，妈妈竟然跟我讲他们回奶奶家包粽子去啦?真是个，不快乐的端午节!

也不能说是很不快乐，很不快乐，爸爸妈妈晚上还是带我去沙滩逛了一圈，但我觉得还是不快乐呀!又是看电视又是出去玩都是他们做的是最快乐的人了!我待家里，电视电视没得看，他们出去，我又没得干，最容易被欺负的人就是我啊!他们好像就是把我当个傻子一样呀!

多么不快乐的端午节发生在我身上，我真的是一个传说中的“倒霉鬼”啊!唉!

前两天在学校，和老师、同学们提前过了一个独一无二的端午节。大家每一个同学都带了粽子，大伙一块推荐，非常高兴。粽子各不相同，什么味道的都有，有蜜枣味的、山药味的、板栗味的、肉粽子、紫薯味，还有水果味的等等，香味扑鼻而来，非常是诱惑!

老师还给大家看了有趣的沙画影视片。它告诉大家有关端午节的起源，楚国一个爱国诗人叫屈原，深受楚王的溺爱，有几个大臣很嫉妒，就背地里在楚王面前说屈原的不是。终于，楚王不再相信屈原，并且把他流放到其他地方。不久楚国灭亡了，屈原还是非常爱我们的国家，最后在5月初五那天跳进了汨罗江。大家为了纪念他，就在每年的5月初五，都会苇叶包着的饭团，也就是大家说的粽子来纪念他。看完这个影片，老师还向大家介绍了粽子的形状，各种各样。有塔形的、三角形的、长方形的……

今天，我还在家过了端午节。大家一家相聚在奶奶家，一块包粽子、做糖包、包菜角、做油条……我参与了包菜角，做糖包的工作。刚开始，我包的菜角非常歪，装的馅儿还少，还有裂开的，母亲还做了特制的补丁给补上了。大家有说有笑，可有意思了!

下午，我还去了科技馆参加了端午节活动，由于我抢答问题正确，获得了手工制作香囊DIY的活动名额。现场给大家发了一个三角形的硬纸片，让大家自己往上面画自己喜欢的作品，我画了爱心、茶杯、鲜花等，然后主持人发给大家胶条，把硬纸片的几条边相互都粘在一块，形成了一个立体的三角形。最后由下而上串过一根五彩丝线，最下面有个线坠子，好看的五彩香包就做好了。大家还一块合了影留念，非常高兴!

今年我的端午节真是丰富多彩!有趣极了!

It was the third day of our winter holiday. Today, there are many business in my mother’s netpany. So my mother told me to help my uncle who is the manager of my mother’s netpany. I sat in my mother’s office and help her answer the telephone.

While I was free, I was writing my homework. Although I also have a lot of time to do my homework, I still do it. Because in my mother’s office, I had nothing to do. If I did nothing, I was wasting my time and my life. I can’t do the foolish thing. We should take good use of our time.

端午节在每年的农历五月初五，他在不同的地方名字也有变化，有的地方称为端阳节，有的称为龙舟节，还有的称为诗人节等。

端午节是为了纪念大诗人屈原而设立的，关于节日的由来，就让我来跟大家说说吧。屈原是战国时期楚怀王的大臣，其倡导举贤授能，富国强兵，联齐抗秦，遭到贵族子兰等人强烈反对，屈原在被赶出都城流放的情况下，写下忧国忧民的《离骚》和《天问》、《九歌》等不朽诗篇。公元前278年，秦军攻破了楚国京都，屈原始终不舍自己的祖国，于五月初五在写下绝笔作《怀沙》之后，抱石投汩罗江。传说屈原死后，楚国百姓哀痛异常，纷纷涌到汩罗江边去凭吊屈原，渔夫们划起船只，在江上来回打捞他的真身。他们争先恐后追至洞庭湖时不见踪迹，之后每年五月初五划龙舟以纪念之，借划龙舟驱散江中之鱼，以免鱼吃掉屈原的身体。

端午节也有很多习俗哦，挂艾叶就是南方必不可少的习俗，古人用艾草代表招百福，认为它是一种可以治百病的草药，插在门上祛除各种毒害，可以使人身体健康。吃粽子，赛龙舟也是端午的重要习俗之一。

除此之外，端午节还有很多美食，比如粽子和五黄，粽子是家家户户都会包的，准备一张粽叶，先将粽叶卷一卷，成一个漏斗型，根据粽叶的大小往里面放入糯米，然后将粽叶翻过来压下去，两边收口，再剪去多余的粽叶，最后用粽绳绑好，美味的粽子就包好啦!而五黄呢，分别是黄鳝，黄鱼，黄瓜，咸蛋黄和雄黄酒，五黄可以更好地驱毒辟邪。

这就是端午节的由来和习俗，你们知道了吗?
