My biggest change is not the appearance but in mind. I have become much more mature. I don t always think about going out to play instead of focusing my attention on study. I start considering my future. I try my best not to quarel with my parents as I know what they do is for me. I know I should filial my parents. What s more, I don t bully my younger sister and brother any more. I have changed a lot, because I have grown up.

我的家乡是个小小的平原，平原上除了几条纵深到七个生产队里的沙石公路和一幢幢长长的红房子外，一年四季几乎就是一个绿字和黄字。绿的棉株，还有绿的黄的水稻，小麦，油菜。当大地披绿的时候，我心怡然着。当大地呈黄时，正是夏天麦子成熟和早稻垂穗的时候，我心浮躁着。 农村的生活简单明了，可单调的日子也不少。好在生产队大多沿着那条小河而居，每到夏季，那河水涨得快齐着河堤面了，那河面马上宽阔起来，一下子拉开了湖北与湖南的距离（河的对岸是湖南省），那条小河就成了我们孩子游戏的乐园。

夏天上午的九点左右，男孩子们就扑通跳进河里。会游泳的几个男孩子相约着游到河的对岸，在湖南的河堤上来回走一下，看他们田野。可他们胆小，从不敢到他们的村口张望；几个刚学会游泳的孩子，在近岸扑通几下，就马上站在岸边休息一会；那些不会游泳的孩子们用双手抓住石码头突起的青石，或河边的青草，双脚一阵阵地乱扑腾，身后腾起一个个美丽的水花。

我们女孩子都要帮家里人洗衣服，那时家家人口多，大多八口之家，那衣服多且不说，仅是大人裤腿上的泥就够我们搓的了。那时，几乎家家没有洗衣粉或肥皂，村里也没有皂荚树。母亲们在出工前用一片旧纱布过滤一点草木灰，就把一切扔给我们。从草木灰中过滤出的一点碳酸类物质是很难洗干净衣服的，所心，事后少不了母亲们的责骂。虽然如此，当女孩子们在河边清洗衣服的时候，往往也是一天中最快乐的时候。

一件件衣服在河水中摆几下，浑浊的泥水就被流动的河水冲干净了。很快，一大桶衣服就会清洗干净了，且毫不费力。然后，我们几个女孩子相视一笑，一步一步地走下码头。当河水漫过我们腰际的时候，哗哗的水仗就开始了。我们用手掌击打着水面，水面上立即腾起一条条白龙向对方凶狠的扑去。女孩们享受着河水从天而降的惊喜，所有的酷热，所有的劳累都被柔柔的河水带走了。当门前的光阴快要接近门槛的时候，男孩女孩急忙上岸，在阳光下晒干衣服，然后回家做饭。当大人们劳作了一个上午回到家的时候，我们的饭已熟了。

中午，大人们在家午睡，我们这些孩子们是睡不着的。有的去沟渠里捉鱼，有的在河边钓鱼。我们一般在河边树阴下坐着，把鱼钩甩得远远的，然后等着鱼儿上钩。只要那鱼浮标动一下，我们就快速地拉起鱼线。阳光下，一条银色的小鱼在长长的丝线下不断地扭动它的腰身。我们小心翼翼地收住鱼线，取下鱼，用一根长长的狗尾巴草穿过鱼鲜红的腮，然后用脚踩住狗尾声草的一头，另一头放在水里，那鱼就又在河水里游了。不大一会儿，长长的狗尾巴草上穿满了小鱼，在那些贫穷的日子里，它是我们餐桌上一碗佳肴。

做完晚饭，大人们还没回家，我们女孩子都站在河堤上，看太阳在湖南田野的尽头落下，然后把一件硕大的霓裳抛向西边天。男孩子们又跳进河水，与湖南的孩子们游在了一起，有的双脚一边踩着河水，一边操着各自的方言，拉起了家常。

一家家吃完晚饭后，大大小小，老老少少，扛着竹床上了河堤。大家坐在或躺在竹床上，听老人们讲古老的故事，其中也不乏鬼故事，让我们这些小孩子看着黑黑的河水发悚，生怕有一个水鬼从水中探出头来。孩子们一个个悄悄地溜下河堤，来到堤下的篮球场上捉迷藏，堤上传来大人们的欢笑声，不知他们是听到了一个开心的故事，还是被孩子们的胆小样逗得开怀大笑。

夏季的小河成了我儿时美丽的记忆！
