According to a recent article on Newsweek concerning children’s’ education,

there is an increasing number of parents worrying their kids to an extreme

extent, depriving them of independence and freedom by keeping them around

parents all the time.

Some people applaud this phenomenon, suggesting that kids’ safety is the

most important. Thus, they’d better not enter the hazardous society without

supervision unless they become adults. From my point of view, some of their

opinion is correct but keeping children away from independence is a completely

erroneous decision. The reasons are as follows:

First and foremost, “locking kids” may hinder their healthy growth, both

mentally and physically. The kids who are locked may have heavy reliance on

their parents, as their comprehensive skills such as communication skills or

cooperative spirit being prevented from developing.

Secondly, what these parents fail to see is the fact that the crime rate

and accidents aren’t on a rapid rise. It is the abuse of mass media that make

crimes and violence more scary. The parents, who love their kids so much, are

completely forced to live under the illusion that our society is full of riots

or threats of accidents. Thus, kids can be allowed to have more freedom such as

walking to school by himself, for instance.

From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that

kids should be given more freedom by parents’ effort. At the same time, parents

should take many factors into consideration such as the time restriction for

children and the evaluation to kids’ maturity and capability. Only then can they

enjoy a safe and meaningful childhood.

The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually

in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

month, so he ordered to light lanterns in the imperial palace and temples to

show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a

grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central

Plains to the whole of China.

Till today, the lantern festival is still held each year around the

country. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung in the streets,

attracting countless visitors. Children will hold self-made or bought lanterns

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.

在腊八这一天，我们都要喝腊八粥，而且还有“谁家喝的粥越早，谁家明年准是大丰收”的俗语呢!除此之外，我们小孩子在这一天更是忙得不可开交。我们做的第一件事就是买好吃的糖果、果冻、瓜子等等。第二件事是我们男孩子最喜欢的事，那就是买爆竹。第三件事就是买各种玩具了，风车、口哨、气球……

腊月二十三是小年，天还没亮呢就听见别人在放炮了，害得我连觉都没睡好，第二天眼睛四周黑黑的，都成熊猫眼了。

腊月二十四必须大扫除，这一天我可累坏了，又是擦玻璃又是洗地板的，出了一身的汗。大人们则忙着备年货，把鸡肉、猪肉、鱼肉、青菜、年糕等年货准备充足。

最热闹的就是初夕，这天家家都忙着贴春联、贴年画。除夕夜必不可少的就是包饺子和放鞭炮。大人们围在一起，有的人在和面，有的人在擀皮儿，有的人在拌馅儿，有的人在准备烧火的柴火……包饺子时还要在饺子皮里放上钱和红枣。预示着新的一年日子红红火火。我则忙着放鞭炮，“霹雳”“啪啦”的声音不绝于耳。最热闹的就属晚上了，各种形状，各种颜色的烟花在天空不停地绽放，有的像一串串明亮的珍珠;有的像一朵怒放的花朵;有的像天女散花……，这些美丽的烟花刹那间把整条街都照亮了，整个村子的天空变成了五彩缤纷的世界。

大年初一是新年，这一天大家早早起来，吃完饺子就去给老人拜年，我们这儿叫串门。我可高兴了，因为从这一天开始我就可以串亲戚，可以收到长辈们送的红包。

正月十五是元宵节，这天晚上要吃元宵，我和村里其它孩子们则打着各色灯笼四处游玩，烟花又在此刻重新装点起美丽的夜空。一个个孔明灯就像天空中明亮的星星，带着人们的美好愿望消失在漆黑的夜空中。

家乡的春节在正月十五的香甜元宵中结束了，可我还沉浸在热闹、祥和的春节中。

两年后的一个晚上，他突然问我：“姐姐，我是妈亲生的吗!”当时听了，愕然了，原来在他来我家的那一刻，他根本没想把这儿当成他心里的那个家，不敢想象一个四岁的孩子，是如何承受那样的恐惧的。我迟钝了很久，回过神来看见的是一双期待的眼神：“不!不是的，你出生时我在你旁边，我可以作证的。”“那我为什么在奶奶家。”我把事情的原因如实给他讲了一便，还语重心长的劝他：“以后别再提了，妈生你不容易，以后要好好孝顺妈，知道吗?”“嗯。”

时间是爱的见证者，一直坚信这句话，几年的相处，总算是让弟弟走出了那时的阴影。这么多年了，他依然喜欢大山，那里每坐山的脾性，他还清楚的给我讲述，可我和弟弟的默契总是很少。

现在，渐渐开始过上正常姐弟的生活，偶尔打打架，吵吵嘴……挺好的。

弟弟，不久的将来，你会发现你人身中最重要的人之一——姐姐。

夏日炎炎，柏油路好像也承受不住高温要化了似得。一个陡坡上，一名工人蹬着一辆三轮车，车上满载着货物，立刻就要越过这个陡坡了，可最后短短的五六米路就像不可越过得天堑，工人依然在努力，可车就是不走了，就在车往后倒退的一瞬间，一名看上去刚刚成年，脸上还有那未去完的稚气，在车的后面推了一把，顿时，那短短的最后一段飘过去了。青年没有说什么，只是继续向前跑去，不知去做什么。至于那名工人什么也来不及说，只是看了那名青年背影一眼，眼中充满了感谢与欣赏。

公共汽车上，只有一个座位了，车到站了，依然没有人下车。有俩个看上去才十一二岁的孩子跑上车，抢着去占那个唯一空着的座位。旁边的人刚要让座就看见一个老奶奶走上车，两个孩子同时说："奶奶，坐那里!"满车人愣了一下，然后都笑了。这时有俩个中年人站起来说："别争了，你们坐那里吧!"俩个孩子坐在那里，脸上挂着笑容，满车的人带着欣赏的眼光看着这两个孩子，还有一些人看向老奶奶眼中是羡慕。

镜头三

傍晚我漫步在大街上，看着远处的那被夕阳染红的天空，这时山峰仿佛也被这美景感染了，镶上了一道美丽的红纱。这时突然听到后面有声音，我一回头，原先是一个穿黑衣服的男子将一名穿红衣服的男子撞倒了，但穿黑衣服的男子也因为惯性倒向了另一边。这时红衣男子站起来了，我想一场争吵在所难免了。但是红衣男子站起后没有我想的破口大骂，只是将黑衣男子扶起，问他有没有事。最后俩个人就忽忽离去。而我，回想着刚才的那一幕，心里有个地方被触动了。

以前我们总认为社会是完美的，所以一颗心从未受到过污染，可当我们在踏入那社会后，就发现社会是那么复杂。以前所遵守的礼貌美德统统没有，所以心就被一层雾包裹住了，于是这样过了很久，很久，最后有一天，我们发现我们的社会并不是没有礼貌美德，而是我们太忙了，以至于我们没有精力去观察发现它们。于是那一层雾消失了，我们的心又变得纯洁了。

这个社会虽然污浊，但阻挡不了礼貌美德的传播，他就在我们的身边，伴着我们一路行走。

firstly,i descide to finish my homework more carefully than before.and pay more attention to the knowledge which i didnt know it clearly.

secondly,i will do a lot of read to widen the range of my knowledge.and try to combine thoery to practice.

finally,i will learn to adjust, to be more positive and more helpful.

thats what i plant to do in a new term.

liu hua is my best friend. she is less tall than i, but of stronger constitution. she looks more like a boy than a girl and is strong willed. at college, we spent a lot of time together reading, talking,singing and laughing. whenever we were together we feel happy and carefree.

we have much in common regarding ow education, background, interests and hobbies. we often help each other andlearn from each other. once,when she was in the hospital for an operation on her appendix, i took care of her in every way possible, which made xiang song (the young teacher who shared the ward with her) envy our friendship. when i was preparing for put graduate exams, she did the cooking and urged others to help me. after graduation we parted. she went to argentine. i was still in ustc. we promised to meet in the united states. so we both worked hard at our lessons.

true friendship lasts a long time. hard work is rewarding and three years later, we me again. true to our word, we met at the place where we promised to see each other the united states of america. i received an asslstantship in ncsu and she earned enough money in argentine to support herself and work her way through college.

刘华是我最好的朋友。她个子没我高。但比我结实。她的样子看上去与其说是女孩不如说是男孩，她意志坚强。在大学，我们一起度过了许多时光，在一起看书、谈天、欢笑。

我们在所受的教育、家庭背景、兴趣、爱好等方面有很多共同之处。我们经常互相学习、互相帮助。有一次，她住院开阑尾，我想方设法照顾她。这使项松(同病房的年轻女教师)羡慕我们的友谊。当我准备考研究生时，她做饭，并敦促别人帮助我。毕业后，我们分手了。她去了阿根廷，我仍在中国科技大学。我们曾相约在美国相见，因此我们都在发奋读书。

真正的友谊地久天长。艰苦奋斗是值得的，三年后我们又相遇了。我们如愿以偿地相会在彼此相约的地方美国。我获得北卡州立大学的助教金，而她在阿根廷挣了足够钱供自己到美国来读书。

打开窗扉，阳光静静地走进来。窗外，那一片绿意，在心底缓缓蔓延。杏雨濡染的点点花红，春阳沐浴的丝丝碧纹，万物飘逸的层层葱翠。舞动的翅膀，划过蓝天，在春的梦想里幸福的织缀……

暖暖春晖，沐浴着翡青的草儿。它挺着嫩绿的身子随风摇拽，那么柔软，那么耀眼，似乎要把蓄积了一年的绿全部献出来。草儿们在窃窃私语，它们说：“我们是坚韧、顽强的小精灵。”大概野火烧不尽，春风吹又生就很好的应证了这句话吧!

春天最神圣华美的馈赠无疑是那姹紫嫣红的花儿。在这个花儿们争放斗艳的季节里，你是否愿意一睹迎春花迷人的风采?她分明是一位最可爱的小姑娘!下身着一件翡翠般、绿色丝绸般的裙子，上身穿的是金黄色的短衫。春风吹拂迎春的短衫，闪动着，大概天上那打着转儿，眨着眼睛的星星也不过如此吧!

清澈的秀水我没见过。我生长在美丽富饶的山城Fengjie，Chongqing。闲暇之时，这绿水飘摇的江水则成了我细细品味的佳茗，散发着醇香的气息。清晨，阳光透过朝霞那绚丽的色彩射到江面上，大概猴子们在水中捞的月亮也比不上这江面上的粼粼波光吧!

桃花灼灼，杨柳依依洋溢着柔情的美，高大的tree则显示出刚健的美。此时的tree已经散发出翠绿的光彩，虽没有夏日时的浓阴，但是它似乎是柔情与刚健的合成体，绿溢满全身，大概这就是春意带给人的一种温暖吧!
