今年的国庆节和往年的国庆节不一样，因为今年爸爸妈妈带我去北京旅游了。

首先，我们参观了天安门广场。导游介绍说，天安门广场是世界上最大的广场。广场的东面是毛主席纪念堂，南面是人民大会堂，西面是天安门，北面是国家博物馆。广场的中央是人民英雄纪念碑，上面有毛主席亲笔题写的“人民英雄永垂不朽”八个大字。站在天安门广场上，我望着在空中飘扬的五星红旗，我的心中充满了对我们伟大祖国的热爱之情。

接着，我们又参观了故宫。导游说，故宫是明朝时期建的。故宫由外朝和内庭两部分组成。外朝是皇帝平时上朝的地方，而内庭是皇帝和妃子们居住的场所。我和爸爸妈妈参观了外朝三大殿中的太和殿。太和殿是皇帝上朝和举行典礼的场所。太和殿外面的广场的地上有许多白点，它们排成了一个八字形。导游说，官员是按照不同的级别站在不同的白点上，而且导游还说了，文官是站在东面，武官是站在西面的。参观了故宫后，让我对中国的历史有了一些了解，我也越来越喜欢中国历史了。

The Forbidden City is divided into two parts. The southern section, or the Outer Court was where the emperor exercised his supreme power over the nation. Until 1924 when the last emperor of China was driven from the Inner Court, fourteen emperors of the Ming dynasty and ten emperors of the Qing dynasty had reigned here. Having been the imperial palace for some five centuries, it houses numerous rare treasures and curiosities. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace Museum is now one of the most popular tourist attractions world wide.

Construction of the palace complex began in 1407, the 5th year of the Yongle reign of the third emperor of the Ming dynasty. It was completed fourteen years later in 1420. It was said that a million workers including one hundred thousand artisans were driven into the long-term hard labor. Stone needed was quarried from Fangshan, a suburb of Beijing.
