1910

The Socialist International, meeting in Copenhagen, established a Womens Day, international in character, to honour the movement for womens rights and to assist in achieving universal suffrage for women. The proposal was greeted with unanimous approval by the conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, which included the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament. No fixed date was selected for the observance.

1911

As a result of the decision taken at Copenhagen the previous year, International Womens Day was marked for the first time (19 March) in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, where more than one million women and men attended rallies. In addition to the right to vote and to hold public office, they demanded the right to work, to vocational training and to an end to discrimination on the job.

Less than a week later, on 25 March, the tragic Triangle Fire in New York City took the lives of more than 140 working girls, most of them Italian and Jewish immigrants. This event had a significant impact on labour legislation in the United States, and the working conditions leading up to the disaster were invoked during subsequent observances of International Womens Day.

1913-1914

As part of the peace movement brewing on the eve of World War I, Russian women observed their first International Womens Day on the last Sunday in February 1913. Elsewhere in Europe, on or around 8 March of the following year, women held rallies either to protest the war or to express solidarity with their sisters.

1917

With 2 million Russian soldiers dead in the war, Russian women again chose the last Sunday in February to strike for "bread and peace". Political leaders opposed the timing of the strike, but the women went on anyway. The rest is history: Four days later the Czar was forced to abdicate and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. That historic Sunday fell on 23 February on the Julian calendar then in use in Russia, but on 8 March on the Gregorian calendar in use elsewhere.

Since those early years, International Womens Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international womens movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations womens conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point for coordinated efforts to demand womens rights and participation in the political and economic process. Increasingly, International Womens Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of womens rights.

The Role of the United Nations

Few causes promoted by the United Nations have generated more intense and widespread support than the campaign to promote and protect the equal rights of women. The Charter of the United Nations, signed in San Francisco in 1945, was the first international agreement to proclaim gender equality as a fundamental human right. Since then, the Organization has helped create a historic legacy of internationally agreed strategies, standards, programmes and goals to advance the status of women worldwide.

Over the years, United Nations action for the advancement of women has taken four clear directions: promotion of legal measures; mobilization of public opinion and international action; training and research, including the compilation of gender desegregated statistics; and direct assistance to disadvantaged groups. Today a central organizing principle of the work of the United Nations is that no enduring solution to societys most threatening social, economic and political problems can be found without the full participation, and the full empowerment, of the worlds women.

Good morning， everyone! I am glad to be here for this interview. First， let me introduce myself to you. My name is Li Ming. I was born on April 23， 1981. I am a local person. I am graduating from University this June. I major in Chinese literature. I hope I could get the opportunity to finish my postgraduate courses in Peking University which I have desired for a long time. I have the confidence because I have such ability! I am a girl who is fervent(热情的)， outgoing and creative. At the same time， I think I am quick in mind and careful in everything. I am looking forward to my postgraduate studies and life. The spring festival is Chinese most traditional festival every 365 days. Each Chinesepay much attention on it. Every year about 15 days before spring festival， themigrate works and white-collars are beginning crowded home-returning.

But， in recent years， with the development of the world， many different attitudes between the young and the old towards the spring festival come forth. The old are still pay more attention to the spring festival， but the young gradually change the mode to spend their spring festival holiday， such as travel overseas.

When I am a childhood， I celebrated the spring festival with my family about amonth in my winter vacation in traditional way， such as helping cleaning our houses， putting red couplets on gates， setting off firecrackers， and wear new clothes. Now， I spend only 4 or 5 days at home with my parents in celebrating thespring festival， then I will hurry back to work. Maybe in the near future， I will have no time celebrating spring festival hometown， and my parents have to cometo stay with us in the city.

Whether or no， I like the spring festival. It is one of the most important part of our Chinese culture. However busy I am， I will try my best to celebrating it with thetraditional way to protect those our ancestor has leave behind.

我，是一个活泼、爱搞恶作剧的男孩，一个还不满14岁的男孩，转眼间就上初中了。

记得13岁生日那天，我高高兴兴的在楼下和小伙伴们玩耍，一双冰冷而又有力的大手把我拽回了家，一顿唠叨：你不能再玩了，你已经长大了，已经……

难道我真的长大了吗?难道我的童年就在这唠叨声中结束了吗?

现在的我，已经背上了沉甸甸的书包，在中学里上学，随着年级的增加，学科也在一科科的增加。

我呢，在平时也喜欢搞一些恶作剧，来放松一下绷紧的脑细胞。

下课了，我和我的朋友商量好，这时，我向后瞄了一眼，嘻嘻，人不在，开始动手。于是，便把他的英语书藏起来，等他来时，他便东窜西找，翻遍了整个教室，也没有找到，最后，他便气喘吁吁问：“我的英语书呢?”我装做若无其事的样子回答：“没看见。”我又问朋友：“你看见了吗?”“没有啊!”朋友配合我说，“你再好好找找。”这时，我和朋友便在后面偷偷地笑，他又在东窜西找，当他趴下桌子下面四处寻找时，我见时机以到，便把书迅速的放到他的桌子上，当他看到英语书时，四周的同学便哈哈大笑起来。

我自从上了初中后，爸爸妈妈对我的期望越来越高，这给了我不少压力，幸好我还能放松一下，不然的话，我会无聊死的。

这就是我，一个活泼又喜欢搞恶作剧的男孩，希望你们能认识我，好了时候不早了，我驶向“题海”的船马上就要起航了!

Today is Sunday.Its sunny today.I go to the zoo with my mother.I can see many animals.There are tigers,lions,pandas,snakes and many more.Look!The pandas are over there.Theyre from China.Look at the baby panda!Its climbing trees. How cute it is!I love pandas.

Next,we go to see the lions.The lions are so strong.Their mouths are too big.The tigers ae next to them.They are from Asia.They are yellow.At last,we go to see the monkeys.Some are climbing moutains,some are eating bananas.THeyre so much fun!

I see many animals at the zoo and Im so happy today!

The Spring Festival  the most important festival in China.People usually decorate the doors and windows with red papercuts.becouse red means good luck.People usually clean house too.becouse they want to sweep away bad luck.Children can get some new clothes or presents from their parents and grandparents.On New Years Eve,family always have a big dinner.Everybody are watch TV and talk.In the midnight,there usually fairworks.On New Years Day,people usually put on their new clothes and vit their femily and friends.They usually say Happy New Years Day. The Spring Festival finhes at the Lantern Festival after two weeks.People usually eat a kind of rice dumpling called yuanxiao.It can take people good luck all the year round.

春节那天晚上，随家人一同漫步在回家的路上，身边一朵朵绽开的“花”，不禁为之驻足。

春节的热闹时刻不免想到了自己统考的成绩。于是心中便常常是阵喜针忧。望望高黑的夜空，又瞥见了天空伶仃挂着的月，大概就更显寂寥了吧！

不知什么时候，妹妹惊呼起来，我顺着她的手指望去。只见一束光笔直地飞向天空，在墨色的天空中划出一道闪烁的金光。又在金光的顶端停滞了几秒，像一颗晶莹的星，努力地抓住天空的帷幕。

也许就在这短短的几秒钟，我前进的脚步停了下来。端正地站立着，仰望天空哪颗星。哪颗星跳跃着欢乐着，在几乎坠下的一瞬，猛地爆开了，忧带着一股坚实的力量，随着一声浑厚有力的声音，将金色的光向墨黑的天空开拓而去。

呵！正像一朵美丽的花，炫耀着自己金色的驱，开在一片贫瘠的土地上，却因此显得格外美丽。就像秋风中的菊花，将自己针状的花朵稍稍弯曲，定格在空中。礼花零零散散的触角好像探过了月亮，月的光芒又刹那间消减了一般—为这短暂而永恒的光。

我的脚因此而动弹不得，因为心已经被它深深地迷住了。看着它仅有的余光划落在漫黑的天空中，又像是一朵终于凋谢的花，但竟是在生命的最后一刻，也能散发出星星点点的唯美之光，在天空留下淡淡的痕迹，仿佛正预示着什么。

在我的脑海中，那朵美丽的花绽发的一刻已经久久烙印在我的心头。我为之而驻足，我为礼花短暂的美却也要在夜空瞬间绽放的精神而驻足。礼花，礼花，不正像我们一样吗？在慢慢黑夜中，不管怎样也要将自己的光留在天空，尽管短暂，却也能引人驻足。这还不够。

在时间的长河里，纵然会有人生的黑夜，只要我们有礼花的精神，不管多么短暂，也要绽放出人生至美的花，将自己最美的光划在天空，让人驻足观赏，又何尝不是价值？

慢慢向前走，家人没有留意我的内心有怎样的波澜。黑夜里，一颗闪星向上移动……
