The Moon Festival is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It is one of the traditional Chinese Festivals.

On that day, the Chinese usually have a special family dinner. Each member of the family, even from far away, will go back home to have the dinner. During the dinner, they eat a lot of delicious food, watch TV programmes and chat about everything happily. They also eat moon cakes.an important kind of food of the Moon Festival. Moon cakes are always round like the moon. There is bean paste, egg-yolk, ice cream or some other nice fruits or food in them.

After the dinner, all the family members go out and enjoy the moon and the moonlight. They talk about the stories about the moon and laugh a lot.

They say there is a fairy maiden named Chang E with her rabbit and a sweet osmanthus tree on the moon. Is that true? It is just a legend. But the legend is so wonderful that we would rather believe it, right?

从前的我是一个不讲文明，不爱护环境的小女孩。

记得有一次，我和妈妈去逛街。那时正值炎热盛夏，我一出门，便看见火球般的太阳把大地炙烤得滚烫烫的。不一会儿，我就热得满头大汗，汗珠不断地从脑袋瓜里冒出来。即使我不断用手绢把汗水擦干，但还是没能止住。妈妈似乎看穿了我心思，立即给我买了一根大大的冰棍，正准备塞进了我那干燥得快冒烟的嘴巴里。一见冰棍，我不管它三七二十一，就狼吞虎咽地吃了起来。不一会儿，那根甘甜可口的冰棍就给我消灭，只剩下一片小木棍了。走着走着，我看到路边有一个垃圾桶，便随手把小木棍抛向了垃圾桶。不料，我的技术太差，小木棍撞到垃圾桶边缘后随即掉了出来。我可没理会它，装作什么事情也没有发生，继续跟着妈妈走。哪知道，从身后传来了一阵奶声奶气的喊声：“不许走，把垃圾捡起来”，我回头一看，原来是一个幼儿园小男孩。他见我停了下来，向我挥手说：“姐姐，你不能丢垃圾。”听了这话，我心里想：这小不点，真是乳臭未干，居然管起来我来了。哼!不理他。于是，我又向妈妈那儿跑去。那个男孩见我没理他，便一屁股坐下，大声嚷道：“姐姐坏，姐姐坏嘛!老师说不能乱丢垃圾。”话讲完，他站了起来，把小木棍捡起，扔进了垃圾桶。看到这情景，我心里感到万分的羞愧：李茵茵呀，你连一个幼儿园的小孩也不如，亏你还是各少先队员呢!

从那以后，我再也没有乱丢垃圾了，因为我知道：文明应该从身边做起，我们应该用心为东莞文明加分!

the exact origins of duan wu are unclear, but one traditional view holds that the festival memorializes the chinese poet qu yuan of the warring states period. he committed suicide by drowning himself in a river because he was disgusted by the corruption of the chu government. the local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fishes to prevent them from eating qus body. they also sat on dragon boats, and tried to scare the fishes away by the thundering sound of drums aboard the boat and the fierce looking dragon-head in the front of the boat.
