Nowadays, there are many kinds of activities for people entertaining in their leisure time, especially in holiday, such as climbing a mountain, having a picnic, holding a party and so on. Too many cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion, accidents and fast fuel consumption, cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities. All the time, they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere. These gases are very harmful, causing disease and even death.

One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Shanghai, some of the public buses begin to run on natural gas, which does not give off as much carbon dioxide as the petrol. 人民里社区向社区居民宣讲了吸烟和二手烟的危害，告诉广大居民要养成健康的生活方式;同时，社区志愿者还在小区内张贴禁烟标语，号召广大居民为了自己和家人的健康，远离香烟的侵害，积极营造全社会支持控烟的良好氛围，为共建无烟环境、共享健康生活打下良好基础。

进一步展示人口计生工作在服务民生、推动发展、促进和谐的良好氛围，7月8日上午，湘潭市岳塘区建设路街道、计生协在霞光社区开展以“服务计生家庭、倡导健康生活”为主题的“7.11世界人口日”宣传活动。

活动通过电子显示屏、横幅、板报、发放资料等媒介向居民宣传了优生优育、全面二孩政策、流动人口服务、避孕节育、生殖保健等多方面内容;现场设立政策咨询台，由相应工作人员对居民的疑问进行解答;同时，该街道还设立了义诊台，为符合要求的居民提供孕前、产前免费健康检查。

据悉，该活动持续了2个多小时，展出板报12块，横幅2条，发放宣传品600多份、免费药具268盒，现场解答居民咨询30余人次。在倡导科学、文明、健康的生活方式的同时，为顺利开展人口和计划生育工作营造了良好的舆论氛围。

5月31日是 “世界无烟日”2007年无烟日的主题是“创建无烟环境”，旨在提醒公众认识烟草烟雾对被动吸烟者和环境的危害。

自20世纪50年代以来，全球范围内已有大量流行病学研究证实，吸烟是导致肺癌的首要危险因素。为了引起国际社会对烟草危害人类健康的重视，世界卫生组织1987年11月建议将每年的4月7日定为“世界无烟日”，并于1988年开始执行。自1989年起，世界无烟日改为每年的5月31日。

香烟中含有1400多种成分。吸烟时产生烟雾里有40多种致癌物质，还有十多种会促进癌发展的物质，其中对人体危害最大的是尼古丁、一氧化碳和多种其它金属化合物。一支烟所含的尼古丁就足以杀死一只小白鼠。香烟烟雾中大量的一氧化碳同血红蛋白的结合能力比氧大240—300倍，严重地削弱了红细胞的携氧能力，因此，吸烟使血液凝结加快，容易引起心肌梗塞、中风、心肌缺氧等心血管疾病。更为严重的是，吸烟者还严重妨碍他人健康。研究结果表明，吸烟者吸烟时对旁人的危害比对他自己还大。

9月26日上午，为进一步提高育龄人群的安全避孕意识，东刘集镇在镇综合文化广场开展“9·26世界避孕日”主题宣传咨询服务活动，活动向群众宣传计生法律法规、全面两孩政策、免费避孕药具发放政策，对育龄群众发放避孕药具、宣传资料，并现场解答群众咨询避孕知识、健康保健相关问题，让群众了解避孕药具、避孕常识，掌握自我保护的方法。

此次活动，共发放健康宣传资料300余份，接受咨询和免费发放避孕药具70余人次。

It is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. Land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. It is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.

Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if peoples lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution ?

不可否认环境恶化已成为当今世界最大的问题。土地资源在不断减少,因为水土流失。废气污染着我们呼吸的空气。河流和湖泊被工厂的 倒出来的废弃物所污染。这可以毫不夸张地说,环境质量的恶化威胁着人类的生存。

有些人认为环境问题是我们因为经济发展而必须要付出的代价。但我不认为这种观点是有效的。毕竟,经济增长的重点是什么?如果人们的生活环境被日益恶化、被严重污染了，那还有什么意义?

Some students like to participate actively in after class activities. They think after class activities are an integral part of school life.

By going in for such activities, they can learn what they cant learn from books, which will be beneficial to them in the future.

Others, however, dont like after class activities at all. They think that a students work at school is learning theoretical knowledge and nothing else. Taking part in after class activities is a waste of the valuable time at school.

In my opinion, every student should engage in some after class activities because from these activities we can learn many valuable things that we wont learn in classrooms.

School is not just a place for learning the difference between "lie" or "lay", or what caused the hours of the daily schedule.

Finally, after class activities broaden our circle of acquaintances. No amount of ordinary school work can take the place of friends acquired in the informal familiarities of activities.
