我心中充满了喜悦，简直水泄不通。又有七八根树倒下，又有七八群鸟儿吓飞。我欣喜若狂。

正当我在砍第十棵时，一只啄木鸟从树上飞了下来，停在我头上，拼命啄，一边还自言自语：“这段木头里一定有虫……”

我被啄得皮开肉绽，把啄木鸟赶到了树上。

“你干什么?”我质问道，“坏我的好事。”

“是你在乱伐树!”啄木鸟应道。
