Last Sunday, I went sightseeing with my friends in the Fairy Lake Park. The park was full of freshness and beauty of spring, with the sun shining and birds singing. 汞是唯一在常温下呈液体的金属元素。俗称“朱砂”。汞可溶于水，空气中。它巨大的毒性令人谈之色变。它主要来源于电池等物品。据统计1970~1979年全世界直接向水体排放的汞总量达1.6万吨!排向大气的汞量也达10万吨。当水中或空气中的汞浓度过高时，会导致树木枯死，人类患上因汞摄入过高引发的病症，如日本南部九州湾有一个叫水俣的小镇，这里居住着4万居民，以渔业为生。1939年开始，日本氮肥公司的合成醋酸厂开始生产氯乙烯，工厂的生产废水一直排放入水误湾。该公司在生产氯乙烯和醋酸乙烯时，使用了含汞的催化剂，使废水中含有大量的汞。这种汞在水体中，被水中的鱼食用，在鱼体内转化成有毒的甲基汞。人食用鱼后，汞在人体内聚集从而产生一种怪病：患者开始时，只是口齿不清，步履蹒跚，继而面部痴呆，全身麻木，耳聋眼瞎，最后变成神经失常，直至躬身狂叫而死。1972年据环境厅统计，水误镇共患水误病180人，死亡50多人，就在新线县阿赫野川亦发现100多水误病患者，8人死亡。据报到，患者人数远不止此，仅水误镇的受害居民，即达万余人。

环保事业说大很大，说小很小。往大的说，可以造成成片的水域污染。往小了说，只要我们每人从身边的小事做起，人人环保低碳，环保事业也可以是一件很小的事。如果我们少用些塑料袋，少乱丢些垃圾，那么这个世界上便会少些随风飘舞的白，多些生机勃勃的绿;也会少些乌黑肮脏的河，多些碧蓝清澈的湖。
