护城河的污染成为了荆州人的心中之痛。在广大市民的期盼下，市政府对护城河进行了彻底的治理。经过清淤、补水、截污、绿化……护城河面貌焕然一新。

如今的护城河碧波荡漾，波光粼粼。护城河宛如一面绿色的大镜子，映出了蓝天白云和古老城墙的美丽倒影。几只鸭子在水面上嬉戏，几条小船在小河上悠闲地驶来驶去，真可谓“舟行碧波上，人在画中游”。河岸上杨枊依依，与古老的城墙交相辉映，美不胜收。
