My experience of the winter vacation

The winter vacation goes by unconsciously. I experienced a lot and learned a lot both about subjects and life. And I want to introduce a new member of my family to you. It’s a pot of flowers.

“I still remember the flowers we buy last year. The flowers blossomed really amazing. So I buy another one this year!” as I heard my mum’s voice, a pot of flowers appeared in my house. Since then, it became the apple in my mum’s eye. But the bud didn’t open yet, so it didn’t interest me at all.

Unwittingly and quietly, New Year’s Eve came.When all of us were watching TV, these flowers already blossomed gorgeously and exudes a light fragrance. All of us stopped from watching TV to appreciate the flowers. “See, how wonderful it is!” My mum said approvingly.

It was a hot day during my summer holidays in 2003. My mother and I got on the bus which would take us to the village where my grandma lived. It was so hot that I felt very thirsty. It took us one more hour to get there. When we walked into the house, Grandma was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen. I hurried to wake my mother up. We took her to the hospital in a hurry. But it was too late to save her. My beloved grandma’s heart stopped beating when we got to the hospital. You’ll never imagine how sad we felt then.    Grandpa was very well all the time. I had never imagined that she would leave us so soon. That evening I lay in bed alone. My eyes were full of tears. I prayed and prayed, wishing she would be ableto come back.

Chinese people eat rice for every meal, but I don’t like rice because I think it is tasteless! We eat meat, fish and vegetables. My family eats noodles and congee. My favorite is noodles.

I often play computer games because I like it so much. I often watch Japanese cartoon movies with my parents on the weekends. On long holidays we take trips, too.

Every year, the thing I expect the most is the Spring Festival. My parents

work far from home and they come back one or two times a year. The Spring

Festival is the time they come home. Every time they come back, they bring mangy

things to me. When I was little, they bought me toys, new clothes and shoes.

Now, they often buy me books. They say more reading is good for me. They hope I

can learn more. The time spend with them is always happy but short. They only
