The Olympic Games, which originated in ancient Greece, is the most distinguished sporting event in the world. In ancient times, no war was allowed between the cities during the Games, which was rather surprising to me since I could hardly imagine warriors actally putting down their weapons and give a break for peace. The precious tradition of peace continued: I would never fail to recall the scene of the opening ceremonies when North and South Korean athletes entering the stadium with their hands held together. The two neighboring countries that used to be enemies are no longer enemies during the Games. Instead they became friends. Speaking of the XX Athens Olympics, perhaps most people would have the same opinion that the most noable part of the opening ceremony arrived when Iraqi and Afghan representatives showed up. These two unfortunate nations, the people of which have undergone innumerable wars, are coming back again to take their own responsibility in world sports after recent invasions by America. The fearless people of Iraq and Afghanistan are once more sharing the spirit of the Games with people from the rest of the world.

There is another story in this book that makes me deep in thoughts. There is no doubt that the most unusual Olympic Games ever in history is the 1936 Olympics held in Germany, which was then ruled by the Nazi Party. Led by Adolf Hitler, the Nazi believed that the so-called Aryan people were superior to all others in all aspects. They looked down upon Jews and blacks, the latter of which was a major constitution of the United States Olympic team. Despite the barrier that faced him, the African American Jesse Owens, who was a most outstanding runner and jumper, did all that he could and finally won gold medals for his country and went home a hero. This reveals another fact that no power on earth is able to hinder the sacred Olympic Games. For all participants, no matter what their gender, race, nationalities and backgrounds are, equality is distributed among every one who observes the Game’s rules.

At the XX Athens Olympics, our Chinese team did extraordinarily well. We ranked second on the medal lists for the first time in history. In my opinion, however, we should not only concentrate on the figure of medals; instead the strength and perseverance of those who failed to get any medals ought to be highly cherished. Whether ever success or failure, whether ever cheer or tear, whether ever medal or not, the never-gave-up spirits of athletes are always motivating us. 《追风筝的人》是朋友在网上推荐的，她说看了欲罢不能，激起她了解阿富汗的冲动，于是她又看了这个阿富汗作家的第二本写阿富汗的书《灿烂千阳》。

第一本我已经读完，第二本读到一半，有点读不下去了。作者的语言太贴近生活，两本书很相似。

其实读完第一本，我感受颇多，两个阿富汗小孩一起长大，其间经历了太多我们想象不到的事情，这些故事激发我思考"朋友的真正含义"书中真挚、细腻的语言十分生活化，让我读起来很流利;但故事却很是沉重，读完让人忧郁，也许作者就是想让读者了解阿富汗人性中抑郁产生的原因。

书中男主人公对儿时伙伴的感情，从愧疚，自责，到了解真相后冒着生命危险面对过去自己懦弱的一面，主人公的心路历程与故事的情节一起跌宕起伏。

第二本书还没读完，感觉两本书的情节很相像，只不过是刻画了两个女性的成长经历，也不知道是译者的原因还是作者刻意的结果，书中一些场景的描写都十分的相像。弄得人经常把两本书的内容混了一起。

总之，两本书让我了解了阿富汗这个陌生的国度，了解了那儿人们的生活习性，经历的灾难和他们顽强的求生精神。

one of the most interesting questions about gullivers travels is whether the houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of swifts satire. in other words, in book iv, is swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? if we look closely at the way that the houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.

first we have to see that swift does not even take gullver seriously. for instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. also, when he first sees the yahoos and they throw excrement on him, he responds by doing the same in return until they run away. he says, "i must needs discover some more rational being," even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. this is why swift refers to erasmus darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the beagle-to show how gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. but if lemule gulliver is satirized, so are the houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati. they walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. as gulliver says, "it was with the utmost astonishment that i witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a vienese waltz. to my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the lord edmund burke" . as this quote demonstrates, gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. for instance, the leader of the houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of charles dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the kings and queens of england up to george ii. swift subtly shows that this houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of queen elizabeths husband.

swifts satire of the houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. one of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that guenivre has brought with him to the island. first she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. but when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: "as i watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than mr. pope being fitted by a clothier. she dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. my horse sniffed the creature and turned away." it might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. but it makes more sense if we see that swift is being satiric here: it is the female houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century england. the houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress gullivers horse. gulliver imagines the horse saying, sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held mr. pope on her back makes me queezy .

a final indication that the houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the houynhms visits lilliput, where he visits the french royal society. he goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at gallilee). the scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: "the creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door" .

he has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed. swifts clear implication is that even though the houyhnhmns are smart, they do not know how to use that knowledge for the benefit of society, only for their own prideful agrandizement.

throughout gullivers travels, the houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong. though their intent might have been good, they dont know how to do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. they mislead gulliver and they even mislead themselves. the satire on them is particularly well explained by the new born houyhnhm who, having just been born, exclaims, "with this sort of entrance, what must i expect from the rest of my life!" .

Main Characters: The little prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, the snake, etc.

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

这是一个关于亲情、友情、爱情、责任的故事。偷窃、救赎、成长，是贯穿全文的三个词语。“为你，千千万万遍”是书中最打动人的一句话，它代表忠诚，真挚的友谊，还有不变的奉献。这本书叫《追风筝的人》，这是一个讲述爱与救赎的故事。

书中讲述了阿富汗富家少爷阿米尔与他父亲仆人的儿子哈桑之间的友情故事。阿米尔和哈桑是好玩伴，阿米尔生性懦弱，为了赢得爸爸的好感在风筝大赛中勇夺冠，哈桑保证追到第二名的风筝，在途中被阿塞夫等人围困在角落里施以暴力与侮辱，阿米尔目睹了一切，但只是蜷缩在阴暗的角落里默默注视。为此，他惭愧不已，无法面对哈桑，最后甚至栽赃他，让他永远离开了这个家。后来，苏联入侵阿富汗，爸爸带着阿米尔逃到白沙瓦，把家留给拉辛汗照看。多年后，阿米尔在美国上大学，毕业后成为了作家并结婚。几年后，身患绝症的拉辛汗从巴基斯坦打电话给阿米尔，让他去救哈桑的儿子索拉博，并告诉了他一个惊人的消息——哈桑是阿米尔爸爸的私生子。阿米尔得知哈桑竟是自己同父异母的兄弟时，他不顾危险，前往家乡阿富汗，得知了哈桑的死讯，他费尽周折找到了哈桑的儿子索拉博，完成了人性的救赎。

这是一个压抑而残忍的故事。哈桑勇敢、善良、忠诚，一直在为阿米尔奉献，但最后却没有一个好的结局——因为种族歧视而被当街枪毙。为了阿米尔能够得到父亲的赞赏，哈桑受到不堪的凌辱;面对阿米尔的污蔑，他和阿里选择离去;当阿米尔的房屋需要看守时，他又毅然选择坚守到被枪杀。但这一切，换来的只有阿米尔无声而懦弱的回避。

这也是一个美丽而充满温情的故事。无论是阿米尔的父亲勇敢地挺身而出，救出差点被敌人欺侮的女同胞，还是为了救出哈桑儿子索拉博而被阿塞夫毒打的阿米尔，抑或是一生默默无闻不求回报的阿里，当然还有忠诚勇敢的哈桑。哈桑的无私、忠诚，爸爸的血性、仁爱，阿米尔的感恩……书中的人们，在战火纷飞的年代，告诉我们人性的珍贵和伟大。

《追风筝的人》译者李继宏曾说：“对阿米尔来说，风筝隐喻他人格中必不可少的部分，只有追到了，他才能成为健全的人，成为他自我期许的阿米尔。”当阿米尔费尽周折，将饱受凌辱的侄子索拉博带回美国，他已经追到了那只风筝。结局并不完美，但这是新的开始，索拉博因精神伤害完全失去感情，唯有说起风筝，才会不自觉地笑起来。曾经，哈桑为阿米尔追风筝，“为阿米尔，千千万万遍。”而现在，阿米尔为哈桑的孩子追风筝，“为哈桑，千千万万遍。”

“我追。一个成年人在一群尖叫的孩子中奔跑。但我不在乎。我追，风拂过我 的脸庞，我唇上挂着一个像潘杰希尔峡谷那样大大的微笑。

”故事的结尾是温馨而唯美的，看着它，我们似乎可以看见为索拉博追逐风筝的阿米尔，似乎，也可以从他的微笑中，窥探到那寻求爱与救赎的心。

每个人生命中都有一只风筝,义无反顾地去奔跑、追逐，在幸福与痛苦的交替中感悟生命的真谛。

The novel opens with the famous line, "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.". and ends with two marriages: Jane and Bingleys, as well as Darcy and Elizabeths. Both couples are assumed to live happily ever after.

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet is the core of the family. Elizabeth is the second of Mr. and Mrs. Bennets five daughters, and is an intelligent, bold, attractive twenty-year-old when the story begins. In addition to being her fathers favourite, Elizabeth is characterized as a sensible, yet stubborn, woman. Misled by his cold outward behaviour, Elizabeth originally holds Mr. Darcy in contempt. However, she finds that Mr. Darcy improves on acquaintance, more so than she would expect.

Fitzwilliam Darcy (commonly known as Mr. Darcy) is the central male character and Elizabeths second love interest in the novel. He is an intelligent, wealthy, extremely handsome and reserved 28-year-old man, who often appears haughty or proud to strangers but possesses an honest and kind nature underneath. Initially, he considers Elizabeth his social inferior, unworthy of his attention, but he finds that, despite his inclinations, he cannot deny his feelings for Elizabeth. His initial proposal of marriage is rejected because of his pride and Elizabeths prejudice against him; however, at the end of the novel, after their relationship has blossomed, he is happily engaged to a loving Elizabeth.

This winter vacation, I read one of the world famous book called one thousand one night. It is also called Arabian Nights，This is an ancient book, there are many old stories about people in Arabia.

Once upon a time, there was a king, he married a woman every day, but the next morning the king killed his wife. After three years, he has killed more than one thousand women. Once, the prime minister’s daughter thought of a way to prevent the king’s cruel killing. Then, the girl asked the king to marry her. Every night, she told a wonderful story to the king, and when the king want to kill her, her story was getting into the most exciting part, so the king has to give up. Night after night, the girl told about one thousand one nights, and finally, it affected the king to change his mind about her. This is the origin of one thousand one night.

In this book, there are a lot of very strange story, the story of the fisherman and the devil , fisherman and four-color fish story, the story of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and so on, some stories tell about the brave spirit of adventure, and some praise people’s brave daring to fight with the evil forces. there are humorous, sad, interesting, horrible, tragic and all sorts of stories.

Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:

We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.

We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side.

We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.

We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…

When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.

This book is simply wonderful. The tales involved are tales of the Persian Gulf, of Bagdhad, Arabia, and tales that we as adults should revisit for some enjoyable light reading that will make us smile and wonder at the old folklore of the Arabian Peninsula.

Sinbad the Sailor is in there, as is Aladdin in its original form, and the story begins of a king who is so upset by his wifes unfaithfulness that he will now only accept virgins for one night and then have them killed. A smart virgin begins her night with the infamous king by telling him stories, and she so fascinates him and enthralls him with her tales that the tales turn into folklore for readers of the ages. I wont tell you what happens in the end to the virgin princess, but you will find humor, enchantment, wisdom and fantasy for those times when stress becomes a factor in your life.

I highly recommend the tale of "The Historic Fart" as a both funny and inspiring tale of human nature. Please buy this book and remember to become a nine -12 year old again as you read with curiosity and wonder at the fabulous enchanting, lively stories. I was beginning to wish my children were a bit younger so I could read these to them. Any child would enjoy these stories, and any adult will find them simply relaxing and a reflection of medieval Islam.

The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

《追风筝的人》是朋友在BLOG上推荐的，她说看了欲罢不能，激起她了解阿富汗的冲动，于是她又看了这个阿富汗作家的第二本写阿富汗的书《灿烂千阳》。

第一本我已经读完，第二本读到一半，有点读不下去了。作者的语言太贴近生活，两本书很相似。

其实读完第一本，我感受颇多，两个阿富汗小孩一起长大，其间经历了太多我们想象不到的事情，这些故事激发我思考"朋友的真正含义".书中真挚、细腻的语言十分生活化，让我读起来很流利；但故事却很是沉重，读完让人忧郁，也许作者就是想让读者了解阿富汗人性中抑郁产生的原因。

书中男主人公对儿时伙伴的感情，从愧疚，自责，到了解真相后冒着生命危险面对过去自己懦弱的一面，主人公的心路历程与故事的情节一起跌宕起伏。

第二本书还没读完，感觉两本书的情节很相像，只不过是刻画了两个女性的成长经历，也不知道是译者的原因还是作者刻意的结果，书中一些场景的描写都十分的相像。弄得人经常把两本书的内容混了一起。

总之，两本书让我了解了阿富汗这个陌生的国度，了解了那儿人们的生活习性，经历的灾难和他们顽强的求生精神。

《追风筝的人》中两个主人公哈桑和阿米尔是童年一起吃同一奶长大的，两人在一起玩，哈桑认为阿米尔是他永远的朋友，但阿米尔从没有把哈桑当成朋友。因为他们有着等级。阿米尔是少爷，哈桑是他们家仆人阿里的孩子。可是这种社会关系的哈桑却受到了阿米尔父亲的真心对待，给阿米尔买什么哈桑也一起会有什么，哈桑什么都不缺。这让阿米尔内心非常难过，所以他才有了撵走哈桑的心理。他把自己的手表藏在哈桑的褥席底下，来污蔑哈桑，可是令人不解的是哈桑竟然承认是他偷得。而且从那一天起，阿里准备带哈桑离开。虽然阿米尔的父亲再三挽留，但他们主意已定。

读到这里，我流下了眼泪，为哈桑的善良，为哈桑的永远为阿米尔着想，曾经哈桑为阿米尔来保驾护航，让阿瑟夫痛恨在心，他觉得值;曾经他为阿米尔追风筝追到一处角落，痛挨阿瑟夫的毒打，他觉得值，他说：为你，千千万万遍。可是身为少爷的阿米尔却从没有把哈桑当朋友，有人和他玩的时候，他不叫哈桑参加;没人玩的时候，才去和他在一起。阿米尔受气的时候，哈桑为他独当一面，可是当哈桑面临危险的时候，他却选择了逃离。他现在又设计出这样的陷阱来让哈桑跳，哈桑从容地跳，他有时用石榴使劲痛打哈桑，可是哈桑从没有还手。就这样，默默地，哈桑为阿米尔，千千万万遍。

故事的情节跌宕起伏。当他们都成为成年人。阿米尔知道了父亲的罪过。也为自己的罪过而产生救赎的心理。原来哈桑与他是同父异母的兄弟。他的父亲之所以一再地建恤孤院，行善事，就是在救赎自己，而成年的阿米尔也开始了自己的救赎之路。阿富汗发生战争，人们民不聊生，有许多让人痛彻心扉的事，有的人为了吃饭，竟然出卖自己的腿，施政者竟然在光天化日之下用石头砸死人。阿富汗的孩子缺少父亲，是战争夺取了一切幸福。当然哈桑也永远地离开了人世，留下了孤苦伶仃的孩子索拉博。阿米尔选择去救索拉博，在那一天，他被打得体无完肤，终于救出了索拉博。他把索拉博带回美国过幸福的生活。可是索拉博却变得抑郁，没有言语。最终故事的结尾，已是成年人的阿米尔为索拉博——哈桑的儿子追风筝，哪怕只是为了看到他的不易发觉的一丝微笑，结尾的文字很美，春天总要先融化冬天的第一片雪花。阿米尔的坚持让我看到了人性的美好。想到他当孩子的时候犯下的错误，我在心里对自己说：他还是个孩子!

谁也会犯错，可贵的是有的人能够反省，并从此多做好事。每一个人都不完美。但每个人在成年之后要学会面对自己的人生。

读《追风筝的人》我感到了一种极为可贵的忠诚善良，那是哈桑带给我的。自始至终哈桑都以最完美的品质出现，虽然他并不完美，但他总是带给别人完美的生活。

读《追风筝的人》我感到了一种极为可贵的勇敢，那是阿米尔的父亲带给我的。在发生战争出逃之时，守门之人提出非分的占有别人妻子的想法，他父亲挺身而出，保住了那位妻子。他说：哪怕挨一千颗子弹我也要站出来，我也不能眼睁睁看着这样的丑事发生。世间如果多一些这样的为正义站出来的人，坏人将无处生根。

读《追风筝的人》我读到了等待的美丽。那是小说的结尾告诉我的。索拉博说，有些事情就像酸苹果，是需要等待才能带来幸福的，多么美丽的比喻。而最后阿米尔的改变，也让我感动。为索拉博他付出了很多，其实最终也是完成了对自己的救赎。他要付出全心的努力来融化第一片雪花。

小说读来令人荡气回肠，它让我们了解了阿富汗发生战争的那段残酷的历史，让我们了解到那里的观念，那里的习惯传统，让我们认识到人性的矛盾，人性的复杂，让我们深刻地体会自我救赎的必须。

Reading this book, like to set foot on a boat trip, can roam the world, you can look at flags, can feel happy. I also want to Alice, for life is full of beautiful yearning to do a good boy!

世界就是我们现在看到的这个样子吗?植物们永远默默无语，动物们没有思想和感情，食物只能填饱我们的肚子……

那可不一定哦!只要你愿意，他完全可能变成另外一种样子：星光洒满每一个角落，小动物们和你一起玩耍，坐在自己的房间里，就可以飞天入地，转瞬间，你以漫游万里……想到这个世界去漫游，一点也不难，只需要一些好奇心和一些幻想。

爱丽丝就做到了这一点，故事是这个样子的：在一个让人昏昏欲睡的下午，爱丽丝在河边追逐一只穿着背心的会说话的兔子而掉进了兔子洞，从而来到了一个奇妙的世界，在这个奇妙的世界里发生了许多奇怪的事情，直到爱丽丝与女王发生冲突，才醒过来，发现自己依然躺在河边。

当我阅读完这本书时，我体会到了读书的乐趣与想象的快乐。这本书把我带到了一个奇妙的世界里去漫游，同时也给我留下了深刻的印象。

阅读这本书，犹如踏上一只旅行的小艇，可以漫游世界，可以仰望旗帜，可以体会快乐。我也要向爱丽丝一样，做个对生活充满美好向往的好孩子!
