永和九年，正值癸丑，暮春三月上旬的巳日，我们在会稽郡山阴县的兰亭集会，举行禊饮之事。此地德高望重者无不到会，老少济济一堂。兰亭这地方有崇山峻岭环抱，林木繁茂，竹篁幽密。又有清澈湍急的溪流，如同青罗带一般映衬在左右，引溪水为曲水流觞，列坐其侧，即使没有管弦合奏的盛况，只是饮酒赋诗，也足以令人畅叙胸怀。这一天，晴明爽朗，和风习习，仰首可以观览浩大的宇宙，俯身可以考察众多的物类，纵目游赏，胸襟大开，极尽耳目视听的欢娱，真可以说是人生的一大乐事。

人们彼此亲近交往，俯仰之间便度过了一生。有的人喜欢反躬内省，满足于一室之内的晤谈;有的人则寄托于外物，生活狂放不羁。虽然他们或内或外的取舍千差万别，好静好动的性格各不相同，但当他们遇到可喜的事情，得意于一时，感到欣然自足时，竟然都会忘记衰老即将要到来之事。等到对已获取的东西发生厌倦，情事变迁，又不免会引发无限的感慨。以往所得到的欢欣，很快就成为历史的陈迹，人们对此尚且不能不为之感念伤怀，更何况人的一生长短取决于造化，而终究要归结于穷尽呢!古人说："死生是件大事。"这怎么能不让人痛心啊!

每当看到前人所发的感慨，其缘由竟像一张符契那样一致，总难免要在前人的文章面前嗟叹一番，不过心里却弄不明白这是怎么回事。我当然知道把死和生混为一谈是虚诞的，把长寿与夭亡等量齐观是荒谬的，后人看待今人，也就像今人看待前人，这正是事情的可悲之处。所以我要列出到会者的姓名，录下他们所作的诗篇。尽管时代有别，行事各异，但触发人们情怀的动因，无疑会是相通的。后人阅读这些诗篇，恐怕也会由此引发同样的感慨吧。

一定就有人问：“为什么呢？”

敏，乃勤奋也。好，乃喜爱也。所谓“笨鸟先飞早入林，”你勤奋好学终会有所成就。当你学习时，必有不懂的问题，向别人请教是必然的，有何“耻”可言。通过勤奋学习，会增长见知，提升自我；不耻不问，又会进一步地升华自己。因此，能做到它是十分重要的。况且，对于社会来说，每个公民谦虚而优秀，那么这个社会也就将得到无限的发展。对自己，对社会都有好处的事，何乐而不为呢？

那又怎样去做到“敏而好学，不耻下问”呢？说起来简单而又复杂。

第一，敏。即是勤奋。要在心里暗暗地下定决心，努力去工作、学习。当然要付诸行动，嘴上清谈有什么意思呢？还要能坚持，有恒心和毅力。

当然需要不是外界环境的干扰，仍旧能继续学习。像毛泽东少时不顾家里的反对，克服贫穷，毅然出门求学。没有读书的环境，就在繁闹的街边读书，丝毫不影响他学习。也就在这嘈杂中成就了一位伟人。

像汉代孙敬读书的“头悬梁”，战国苏秦读书的“锥刺股”，都是敏而好学的体现。喜爱学习，乐于学习，勤于学习，不止只有学生当如此，工作中的人也是这样。

对于“敏而好学”也许有不少人都能做到，而“不耻下问”呢？能有多少人？向不如自己的人请教问题，这可不仅仅是好不好学的问题，而且牵涉到自尊心、虚荣心的问题在内。人的天性往往不可思议。有的人位卑才低，求教于位尊者，才高者，那似乎没什么，不以为耻；一旦反过来，以位卑求教于位卑，以才高者求教于才低。往往会觉得别扭，也许会感觉不光彩，耻于开口了。

这种感觉多半来自于心理压力，我们当然要克服它。你可以进行自我暗示：“问个问题有什么嘛？”“他也许比我强呢！”“别人才不会这么在乎我呢，何难堪之有”？？？。。。。。。在自我暗示下，可以尽快地调整自己的心态。在不久之后，定会有显着效果。还有一个方法，就是人前人后都保持谦逊的作风，忘却自己造成的思想上的尴尬，久而久之，习惯了，也说真实了。
