Anna’s efforts finally paid off. In 1910, the governor of West Virginia declared Mothers Day a state holiday on the second Sunday in May. The following year, every other state followed suit. By 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill declaring Mother’s Day a Federal Holiday.

At first, celebrations of Mothers Day were relatively private, where children would accompany their mothers to the churches where their baptisms were held. Gradually though, Mothers Day has flourished into a significant and memorable occasion where many people express their love for their mothers through thoughtful gifts and quality time with family.

Around us there are many people environmental protection consciousness, I hope more people join the ranks of environmental protection, let the home environment is becoming more and more good.

我的老家是一个美丽的小村庄,听爸爸说，原来的老家村前村后、房前屋后到处都是树，一年四季郁郁葱葱，村东头有条小河，河水清澈晶莹，鱼翔浅底，天空湛蓝深远。

村里住着百十户人家，日子过得都还舒适，可是不知从什么时候开始，环境开始恶化了。先来说说我们的小河，她现在简直成了污水河了，岸边有家造纸厂在往河里排放废水，河面上泛着一层白白的泡沫，臭气熏天，昔日的水草和鱼儿不见了，鲜花倒影的河面不见了。爸爸说河边可是他小时候经常玩耍的地方，现在过往这里的人行色匆匆、捂嘴掩鼻。小河终日愁眉不展。

地球是我们的家园，美好的环境更是我们开心生活的前提。为了我们生存的家园能够温馨舒适，我提出三条建议：

一工业污水不要随意排放，最好能够统一处理后循环使用。

二生活垃圾要分类回收，以便再利用。号召人们爱护环境，并在一些卫生状况较差的区域贴上醒目的警示标志。

三对空气污染进行监督和治理，尤其是要对那些排量超标的烟囱限期整改。

在我们身边还有许多人环保意识淡薄，真希望有更多人加入到环保行列当中，让家乡的环境变得越来越好。

Animals are friends of human beings. An animal is dependent on the human, also, the human also cannot leave the animals.

In fact, for a long time, the behavior of the human animal cruelty has not rested, eat eat peacock, owls, monkey, red-crowned cranes, bear bile absorption, is really to the point of "all things" entrance! What do you want to, so can not cause animal angry? How can you make animals not to stand up and fought back? This is also the animal attack humans, even damage the important reason of human life.

Second, with the progress of human society, some bad behaviors of human beings, not only destroyed the earths environment, and damage to the animals living environment. Factory sewage, automobile exhaust, deforestation of forests and other bad behavior, have caused serious damage to nature, and at the same time there are opposite to the nature of the direct damage caused by animals that makes the animal difficult to live, the type and quantity less and less, destroy the balance of the ecosystem, eventually make human to destruction.

Visible, the relationship between animals and humans have come to the point where serious deterioration, at the same time, also pose a threat to the survival of mankind itself. Humans are still can such wrong-headed, impenitence? ! I think that human beings should be timely change their bad habits, to love animals, protect earths environment.

As a primary school student, we should start from me, start from now, to take care of our nature, protect the animals around us.

动物是人类的朋友。动物离不开人类，同样，人类也离不开动物。

很久很久以前，动物和人类是一对好朋友。他们互相帮助、互相依靠、和睦相处，谁也离不开谁。但是，随着时间的推移，由于人类自身的原因，造成了动物与人类的关系恶化，而且有越来越严重的趋势。

首先，人类对动物的肆意捕杀，一方面造成了动物的大量减少，另一方面也造成了动物对人类的敌意不断增强，一定程度上破坏了动物与人类的友好关系。事实上，一直以来，人类残害动物的行为一直没有停息过，吃孔雀、吃猫头鹰、吃猴脑、吃丹顶鹤、吸熊胆，真是到了“万物皆入口”的地步!您想，这样怎么能不引起动物的愤怒呢?怎么能让动物不挺身而出、奋起反击呢?这也是造成了动物攻击人类、甚至伤害人类生命的重要原因。

其次，随着人类社会的不断进步，人类自身的一些不良行为，不仅破坏了地球环境，也破坏到了动物的生存环境。工厂的污水、汽车的尾气、对森林的过度砍伐等不良行为，都对大自然造成了严重的破坏，同时也对生存在大自然的动物造成了直接的伤害，使动物生存艰难，种类、数量越来越少，破坏了整个生态系统的平衡，最终使人类走向灭亡。

可见，动物与人类的关系已经到了严重恶化的地步，同时，也威胁到了人类自身的生存。人类难道还能这样执迷不悟、不知悔改吗?!我想，人类应该及时改变自身的不良习惯，爱护动物，保护地球环境。

作为一名小学生，我们应该从我做起，从现在做起，爱护我们的大自然，保护我们周围的动物。

让我们大家一起行动起来，爱护动物，善待动物，成为动物的好朋友，为改善动物与人类的关系做出自己应有的贡献吧!

Apparently, this trend will surely in turn endanger humankind in the long run.

(On no account should we turn a blind eye to such things.//All these factors above make it crucial to take drastic measures to protect the wildlife.) Accordingly, governments all over the world are supposed to unite to work out effective measures against commercial hunting. Additionally, people should be educated from childhood to cultivate the awareness that we and the rare wild animals share the same precious planet. I do believe a harmonious relationship between the wildlife and human beings is awaiting us if we make every effort to promote wildlife protection both nationally and internationally.

On Water Shortage

No one can have failed to notice the fact that water shortage is a grave problem with which the whole world is confronted. Actually, it has become so widespread that it has severely affected peoples daily life and hindered the development of the global economy.

A number of factors could account for the problem, but the following might be the critical ones. First, with the development of agriculture and industry, an increasing amount of water is needed. Secondly, the ever-increasing population is another leading cause of water shortage. Besides, the global tendency of warming up also contributes to the problem. Whats worse, pollution and waste of fresh water aggravate the situation.In view of the seriousness of the problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is essential that laws and regulations be worked out and enforced to protect water resources. Secondly, people should enhance their awareness of saving water. With these measures taken, it is reasonable

for us to expect a brighter future.

辽阔无边的大海，烟波浩淼的湖泊，奔腾不息的江河，雄伟壮丽的冰川，潺潺流动的泉水……正是这些形形色色的水，把我们人类的家园打扮得分外美丽，给地球带来了勃勃的生机。

水，孕育了地球上的生命、人类的文明，曾听父母说过“人三天不吃饭没事儿，可是要是三天不喝水，生命可能就会出现危险。”虽然有些夸张，但是它足以说明人们的生命与生活真真正正地是离不开水呀!

还记得汶川大地震地时候，当救护人员把一位大哥哥救出来地时候，大哥哥的一句“我想喝可乐”震撼了全人类的心。难以想象，没有水的日子，世界将会变成什么模样!

人们把水看作是大自然给人类的无偿赠品，尽情的使用它、享用它。但是进入20世纪中叶以后，水开始成了稀缺品，而且是无可替代的稀缺品!越来越多的城市发出了缺水的告急声!1977年联合国水会议发出警告：水不久将成为一个深刻的社会危机，继续石油危机之后的下一个危机便是水。

我国云南等省市正遭遇着旱灾，电视上人们渴望喝到水的镜头总是历历在目：一个满脸沟壑的老爷爷双手捧着一个碗向老天求水;一群本应该天真烂漫的孩子此时却个个眉头紧锁，手提小桶排队等候在一个水并不多水井旁……这不正是对水的渴望吗?而我们却还在浪费水资源、破坏水资源，难道这不是等于在犯罪吗?

面对水的挑战，我们必须清醒地认识到：水资源是有限的，世界上没有任何东西可以代替水!历史上，有多少地方，由于水源的枯竭，绿洲变成沙漠，城市变成废墟。例如：塔克拉玛干大沙漠中的楼兰古城废墟、毛乌素沙漠中的统万城废墟就是见证。一个曾是古丝绸之路上的繁华商城，一个曾是显赫一时的夏国都城，由于没有了水，现在都淹没在流沙之中。一个地方没有了水，人们可以迁往他乡，可是如果地球上所有干净的水都被弄脏耗尽，人们又该迁向何方?

纯洁明净的水呀，让它永驻在辽阔无边的大海吧!长留在烟波浩淼的湖泊吧!涌流在奔腾不息的江河江河吧!欢腾在潺潺流动的泉水中吧……

我深信，只要我们珍惜、爱护水资源。不断广开水源，我们就不必再为缺水而发愁，世界的明天一定会更美好!
