A great change is now taking place in higher education throughout our country。 Teachers are being held responsible as never before for how well they serve their students。 It has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students。 In some universities students＇ rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness。

I think students＇ rating of their teachers is necessary， but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers＇ performance。 Instead of rating the teachers＇ knowledge on the subject， students should be asked to estimate what they themselves have leaned in a course， and to report on such things as a teacher＇s ability to communicate with students， his relationship with students， and his ability to arouse interest in the subject。

A number of people will exert aprofound influence on children’ character-training, mental growth and future life. Parents, of course, are our first and foremost teachers. On balance, however, the irreplaceable role of teachers should not be ignored.

To my certain knowledge, instructors play an increasingly critical role in children’ academic study and impose a far more significant impact on social development compared with parents. First of all, students need teachers who would teach them logic, mathematics, literature, foreign language etc.. More importantly, as for them, because the majority of time is spent in the campus, teachers will impose a subtle impact on their cultivation of study habits or learning methods. Mr.Shine, let us say, is such a teacher, who not only imparts knowledge to their students but also helps them to cultivate good study habits. My high school headteacher teaches my English. He is handsome.  And he is very thin for hardwork. He is about forty years old. He looks serious. But in fact, he is kind, nice and warmhearted.

On the one hand, he is serious on study. Whoever doesn’t finish the homework or cheat in the exam, he will punish him or her badly. Sometimes he will let those students do doble homework or have  another exam. Sometimes he will ask those students write reports on that behavior. But when teaching us in class, he is so patient. All in all, we love our headteacher, though sometimes he is serious. We like his responsibility. We also appreciate his spirit to work for students heart and soul.

窗外的鸟儿在欢唱，伴着我“唰唰”的写字声和应老师的讲解声。

“colour，green，smart……。”又是一次听写，可这次，我有了应老师亲身传授的听写宝典，终于破了我的记录，拿了听写的第一个一百分！拿着听写本时，我的耳边好似又响起应老师给我认真的讲解声。

应老师在我的脑海中不只是英语王，还是一个“百科全书”。

在上课的前几分钟，应老师总会来和我们“谈谈人生”，“八婆八婆”。就拿最近几次的英语课来说说吧。
