雾霾，看似与雾有“血缘关系”，但它却和雾截然不同。雾，是由浮游在空中的小水滴或冰晶组成的水汽凝结物。有时雾出预报晴，有时雾出预报雨，似乎混乱不堪，但是只要掌握了辐射雾、平流雾的特征，多方观察，仔细分析，就能准确地抓住雾与天晴、落雨的规律，以便预测天气。这对于农业、交通、航天、航海都有用处。而雾霾就不一样了，它是由空气中的灰尘、硫酸、硝酸、有机碳氢化合物等粒子所组成的小灰粒。
