老妈从单位退休下来，负责家里每天的采购工作，去菜市场买菜，她从不使用塑料袋，而是用自己缝制的布兜或菜篮子，每次上街前都准备好自己的装备。平时出门她很少打车，一般情况下，她不用代步工具，能步行决不骑自行车，能骑车决不坐公交车，她总说步行是最简单最方便的锻炼身体方式。

日常她很少使用家用电器，尤其是洗衣机和空调。每次我嗔怪：“手洗衣服多累啊?”我总是回答：“洗衣机洗得不干净!”三伏天，我回家，老妈关着空调摇扇子。“妈，大热天怎不开空调?”我催促。“吹空调又费电，对身体又不好。”她又有说辞。

妈妈的生活方式在我们看来很老土，但她仍然坚持自己的原则，看完电视、用完抽油烟机等电器后，不仅关掉开关，而且永远是要拔掉电源;洗衣服时很少用洗衣粉而是用肥皂，她说肥皂在排放后很容易被降解;洗菜刷碗时，水龙头的水总是拧得细细的，象线条一样;水池下排水管总接着一个水桶，为冲水马桶储备用水;淘米水从不舍得倒掉而是留着浇花;常吃素食而很少吃肉食……

几十年如此，她的“低碳”生活为我们营造了一个健康和谐幸福的家庭氛围，使我也耳濡目染地感受到节能减排给生活带来的益处。
