I love reading, which enriches my knowledge and helps me know more about

the world. I love the school atmosphere. Students study together here and make

progress gradually. My favorite place here is library. I can read many books

here. Once I have some questions, I can find a lot of information. We fight for

the goal and plan details in the library in group task. I have so many good

memories to study here, which makes me so happy. No matter which school I am in,

I will always find this quiet corner and study what I like. I love the feelings

there.

There are many different beliefs about the origin of the Lantern Festival.

But one thing for sure is that it had something to do with celebrating and

cultivating positive relationship between people, families, nature and the

higher beings they believed were responsible for bringing/returning the light

each year.

One legend tells us that it was a time to worship Taiyi, the God of Heaven

in ancient times. The belief was that the God of Heaven controlled the destiny

of the human world. He had sixteen dragons at his beck and call and he decided

when to inflict drought, storms, famine or pestilence upon human beings.

Beginning with Qinshihuang, the first emperor to unite the country, all the

emperors ordered splendid ceremonies each year. The emperor would ask Taiyi to

bring favorable weather and good health to him and his people. Emperor Wudi of

the Han Dynasty directed special attention to this event. In 104 BC, he

proclaimed it as one of the most important celebrations and the ceremony would

last throughout the night. They clean it all up in the morning.

Another legend associates the Lantern Festival with Taoism. Tianguan is the

Taoist god responsible for good fortune. His birthday falls on the 15th day of

the first lunar month. It is said that Tianguan likes all types of

entertainment, so followers prepare various kinds of activities during which

they pray for good fortune.

Yet another common legend dealing with the origins of the Lantern Festival

speaks of a beautiful bird that flew down to earth from heaven, which was hunted

and killed by some villagers. This angered the Jade Emperor in Heaven because

the bird was his favorite one. Therefore, he planned a storm of fire to destroy

the village on the 15th lunar day. The Jade Emperors daughter heard of this

plan, and warned the villagers of her father’s plan to destroy their village.

The village was in turmoil because nobody knew how should they escape their

imminent destruction.

However, a wise man from another village suggested that every family should

hang red lanterns around their houses, set up bonfires on the streets, and

explode firecrackers on the 14th, 15th, and 16th lunar days. This would give the

village the appearance of being on fire to the Jade Emperor. On the 15th lunar

day, troops sent down from heaven whose mission was to destroy the village saw

that the village was already ablaze, and returned to heaven to report to the

Jade Emperor. Satisfied, the Jade Emperor decided not to burn down the village.

From that day on, people celebrate the anniversary on the 15th lunar day every

year by carrying red lanterns on the streets and exploding firecrackers and

fireworks.

There are many stories on how this festival was created. One other story is

about a maid. In the Han Dynasty, Mr. Eastern was a favorite advisor of the

emperor. One winter day, he went to the garden and heard a little girl crying

and getting ready to jump into a well to commit suicide. Mr. Eastern stopped her

and asked why. She said she was a maid in the emperors palace and her name was

Yuan-Xiao.

She never had the chance to meet her family after she started worked at the

palace. She missed them so much every 12th lunar month. If she couldnt have the

chance to show her filial piety in this life, she would rather die. Mr. Eastern

promised her to find a way so she could reunion with her family. Mr. Eastern

left the palace and set up a fortune-telling stall on the street and disguised

himself as a fortuneteller. Because of his reputation, many people asked for

their fortunes.

But every one got the same prediction - a severe fire accident on the 15th

lunar day. The rumor spread quickly. Everyone was worried about the future and

asked Mr. Eastern for help. Mr. Eastern said, "On the 13th lunar day, the God of

Fire will send a fairy lady in red to burn down the city. If you see a lady in

red wearing green pants riding a black horse on that day, you should ask for her

mercy." On that day, Yuan-Xiao pretended to be the red fairy lady. When people

asked for her help, she said, "Im the messenger of the God of Fire and came to

check on the city and Im going to set up fire on 15th. This is an order from

Jade Emperor. He will watch from the heavens.

I will give you a copy of the imperial decree from the God of Fire. You

should go to ask your emperor to find a way out." After she left, people went to

the palace to show the emperor the decree which reads "The capital city is in

trouble. Fire burns on the palace, and fire from Heaven burns all night long on

the 15th." The emperor of Han Dynasty was very shocked. He called and asked Mr.

Eastern for advice. After pondering for a while, Mr. Eastern said, "I heard that

the God of Fire likes to eat Tang-Yuan (Sweet dumpling). Does Yuan-Xiao often

cook Tang-Yuan for you? On the 15th lunar day, let Yuan-Xiao make Tang-Yuan.

Your Majesty will take charge of the worshipping ceremony and you will give

an order to every house to prepare Tang-Yuan to worship the God of Fire at the

same time. Also, deliver another order to ask every house in the city to hang

red lantern and explode fire crackers. Lastly, everyone in the palace and people

outside the city should carry their lanterns on the street to watch the lantern

decoration and fireworks. If everything goes this way, the Jade Emperor would be

deceived.

Then everyone can avoid the fire accident." The emperor happily followed

the plan. Lanterns were everywhere in the capital city on the night of the 15th

lunar day. People were walking on the street. Fire crackers kept making lots of

noise. It looked like the entire city was on fire. Yuan-Xiaos parents went into

the palace to watch the lantern decorations, and Yuan-Xiao made a big lantern

and wrote her name on the lantern. They happily reunited together after her

parents called her name. Everybody was safe during the night. The emperor of Han

Dynasty had a new order that people should do the same thing every year. Since

Yuan-Xiao cooked the best Tan-Yuan, people called the day Yuan-Xiao

Festival.

Young people were chaperoned in the streets in hopes of finding love.

Matchmakers acted busily in hopes of pairing couples. The brightest lanterns

were symbolic of good luck and hope. As time has passed, the festival no longer

has such implications.

Those who do not carry lanterns often enjoy watching informal lantern

parades. In addition to eating tangyuan (simplified Chinese: 汤圆; traditional

Chinese: 湯圓; pinyin: tāngyuán), another popular activity at this festival is

guessing lantern riddles (which became part of the festival during the Tang

Dynasty), which often contain messages of good fortune, family reunion, abundant

harvest, prosperity and love.

1995 I went into taizhou junior middle school.Totally we had 7 classes,I

was in class 4.The head-teacher of the class was a middle age woman.she was so

strict with us.for example, i was catched when i ate a big rabbit sugar during

class time,she asked me to buy that bland sugar one peice for everyone.in my

opinion ,she hated everyting except study,everyweekend ,she asked us to study in

school,sunday afternoon was just the free time for us.when she saw we played

football,she must get the ball back to her office.someone who was to be in love

was found by her,he would be punished just like a shit.luckyly,i was not found

by her.i liked the girl who was my Elementary school schoolmate during my junior

middle school.i didnt know she konwed or not.it ended when we graduated.but i

liked to talk with others during class time,everytime i was found by her,she

asked me to write 3000 words to explain why and how to do in future. nowadyas

every time i remeber what happened in my junior middle school,i deeply appreciat

her kindness.she is real a good teacher.

My junior middle school time has pasted ,but it will influece till the end

of my life.

Tomb Sweeping Day is on the April 5th every year. Its a day to show our great respect to our deceased ancestors. On that day, we usually sweep the tomb of our ancestors and offer them food and drinks. We also burn paper money to them. It is believed that our ancestors in heaven will receive the money. Besides, everything in our nature takes on a new look on that day, so its the best time for spring outing. It must be fun and relaxing.

Nowadays, environmental pollution is very common. Resource waste is also

seen everywhere. In order to protect the environment, to protect our earth, we

need to live a low-carbon life. I usually go to school on foot, sometimes by

bike. If I need to go to the other city, I will choose the public transportation

and not ask my parents drive me there. If I am the last one to leave classroom

or home, I will make sure all the lights are off. I always will save the water

after washing clothes. And then use it to wash the toilet. Our earth is in our

own hands.

As the developing of Chinese economy， the problem of protecting environment is being more and more important。 It is a crucial responsibility for us。 If we let this situation go as it is， it would be almost not a health earth for our offspring。 It sounds an alarm to us that we should execute the steps of protecting environment quickly。 Recently， a large number of problems appeared obviously， the security of food， the acid rain， the lack of water， the worse weather， all of all， it is the problem of environment in the final analysis。 The development of society should be the basic of protecting environment， we ought to protect environment by newer technology。 Meanwhile， the protecting environment should play an important role in the development of society。 Accordingly， I argue that we should protect environment in two aspects。 On the one hand， the related laws should be established by government。 On the other hand， the consciousness of protecting environment ought to be publicized in public。 I have an unshakable believe that if we put the problem of protecting environment be the first place， our society would have been developing fast and healthily。

Recently, I have seen an impressive film –Precious, which tells the growing

experiences about a pretty fat black girl, Precious Jones, a girl living in the

Harlem. The film reveals the poor and miserable life in the Harlem, but at the

same time, it encourages people to take a positive and optimistic attitude to

face it, no matter how difficult it is.

Precious is so undereducated that she can not read and write formally.

What’s worse, she is usually knocked around by her irascible mother. Worst of

all, she is sexually assaulted by her stepfather and has two children before the

age of seventeen. Owing to the situation she gets involved, she has to leave

school and is introduced to alternative school. After waging many struggles and

overcoming many difficulties, she finds the goals of life again with the help of

her teacher and classmates.

In the film, Precious insists on keeping her children all the time though

she gets involved in trouble. She has a firm belief that she can get rid of the

past life and start the new one and she really makes it finally. Her insistence

tells me that keeping positive and optimistic would make a great contribution to

achieve dream.

In life, many people are easy to feel frustrated by meeting a bit of

setback. As far as I am concerned, we need to learn to keep positive and

optimistic when facing difficulties so that we have more power to keep and

pursue our dreams.

I have a wide range of interests and enjoy doing many things during my free

time.

I am fond of reading. I often read after class. My classmates like watching

TV while I prefer to read. I read various kinds of books and newspapers that

they afford me stories and news. The book I like most isThe House on the Mango

Street. I am also a music lover. Pop music is my favorite. I often listen to the

music programs on radio and I also have an MP3 downloading all my favorite

songs. In addition, swimming and badminton are my favorites, too. They help me

build a healthy body.

In short, I enjoy my life in school very much. Reading books, listening to

music and doing sports are very helpful to my health and my studies.

Ofo has been favored by the public, even the foreign people speak highly of

it. These yellow bikes can be found everywhere, so the people who are in a hurry

can use it and then reached the destination in time. Especially for the

visitors, they can ride these bikes and then have a look at the scenery around.

It can saves them a lot of money and the most important thing is the convenience

it brings. These bikes can be placed any place, even the walking areas. I like

ofo so much. It makes me feel green, because it won’t produce bad air to pollute

Going to high school is my first time to leave home. I have to live in

school from Monday to Friday. I like to stay away from my parents for some time,

because I can make my own choice and be free to go anywhere. My friends and I

like to spend the weekend in the countryside that near the city we live. It is

the short travel that I can not only appreciate the beautiful scenery, but also

learn to be independent. The things that nature teaches me are a lot. I can see

from the color of the cloud to predict the weather and the sound of of animals

have different meanings. All of these are hard to know from the books. I have my

Last Qingming Festival,i return home to worship my grandfather.Qingming

Festival is a folk Festival.In the past,the Qingming Festival was called "Arbor

Day". But Today, Chinese visit their family graves to tend to any underbrush

that has grown. Weeds are pulled, and dirt swept away, and the family will set

out offerings of food and spirit money. Unlike the sacrifices at a familys home

altar, the offerings at the tomb usually consist of dry, bland food. One theory

is that since any number of ghosts rome around a grave area, the less appealing

food will be consumed by the ancestors, and not be plundered by strangers.

With the passing of time, this celebration of life became a day to the

honor past ancestors. Following folk religion, the Chinese believed that the

spirits of deceased ancestors looked after the family. Sacrifices of food and

spirit money could keep them happy, and the family would prosper through good

harvests and more children.

The term, friend, covers a wide range of meanings. It can be a nodding

acquaintance, a comrade, a partner, a playmate, a brother, etc. As life is full

of obstacles and conflicts, we need friends to give us supports to get through

tough times, we also need friends to give us warnings to go against danger. True

friends share not only joy but, more often than not, they share sorrow and

difficulties.

WithFriendship, life is happy and harmonious. Without friendship, life is

hostile and unfortunate. I have friends in the rank and file. Some are rich and

in power. Some are low and common. Some are like myself, working as an ordinary

teacher, reading and writing and content with the simple life. To many of my

great disaster that caused by the greenhouse effect, it just like the end of the

world, there was no way for people to avoid such great disaster. The movie

people, people have to face the disaster. It is very important to protect the

environment, people should get along with the environment.

Today, the young generation likes to stay up, because after a day’s working, they will find fun at night, so they are getting home very late and then wake up late, too. As they are wake up so late, they will ignore their breakfast and wait for the lunch, today people will call the meal brunch, it means to eat things between breakfast and lunch time. The fact is that not eating breakfast is bad for our health, our body hasn’t take in things all the night, we need to take in some nutrition in the morning time, so the body can have the energy to work. Thinking about this, how a machine can work well without electricity, and the breakfast is the electricity. As breakfast is so important, we must have it on time, so our body can work well and keep healthy.

I will soon become a middle school student, which means my life will come

to a new chapter. So I must do something different to make me stronger. I want

to be more independent, so I can make my own decision. As my parents always make

decisions for me, I want to tell them that I have grown up. From now on, I

should learn to take care of myself, such as washing clothes and helping my

mother with the house work. The most important thing is to finish my homework

without my parents supervision. I am so excited about my new life and I believe

that I can become a better person.

Should students go on further study or find a job after leaving high

school?

Time spent in campus is not always treated with gracious look, but some

parents may choose other ways for the longevity of their childrens

post-high-school period, namely, find the adolescents a job, rather than sending

them to a college. I can find myself against this act for a thousand reasons,

amongst which we can figure some strongest ones as follows:

My first con against this behavior is that education is not just a benefit

but also ones rights. Without education , as Gorge Orwell had once said ,is to

be deprived of the most precious privilege in our time as a modern man. With

college education , youngsters can choose a better way of doing thing correctly

and more efficiently. The sharp contrast between those who have received well

education and those without is not just financially, but more vitally,

spiritually.

Admittedly, we can find cases of some one achieves without college

education, but these cases are famous only because they are rare. Those people

who succeed with a college degree are so many that this would seem to be a must

and a natural part of elites. The absence of university education is hard to

imagine in our days. The prospect of those juvenile workers or businessmen would

be even dimmer than ever before .For in our age, knowledge is not only the

power, but also the know-how to solving problems and gaining a much larger

fortune.

Every child has an idol in their heart. They chase the famous star and

dream to be part of them. Look at those idols, they are young and beautiful, and

the most important thing is that they are favored by a lot of fans, so I dream

to be a star. If I were a star, first, I could make a lot of money. With these

money, I could make my parents have a better life and return their love. The

most exciting thing is to have a lot of fans. They will support me all the time.

I also could see my talents and feel so proud of myself. But being a star means

lacking of time to company our families.

Things in the world are changing. People are changing and every creature is

changing. Changing is a neutral word. We can’t judge it is good or bad in

general, because every coin has two sides. But sometimes we need to change,

because it is good for us. Sometimes we will meet some difficult or

uncomfortable situation. When we are not able to change it, we need to change

ourselves. If both of us refuse to budge, the problem would not be solved.

Sometimes we need to change our life attitude; sometimes we need to change our

views of seeing things; sometimes we need to tolerant; sometimes we need to be

strong. Changing ourselves according to the specific situation is good for

us.

Another new term comes again,so i should have a study plan to promot

myself.

Firstly,i descide to finish my homework more carefully than before.And pay

more attention to the knowledge which i didnt know it clearly.

Secondly,i will do a lot of read to widen the range of my knowledge.and try

to combine thoery to practice.

Finally,i will learn to adjust, to be more positive and more helpful.

The animal is the friend of our human beings. We live in the same earth.

Animals and human beings can’t be separated from each other. But some animals

are getting less and less. So it’s necessary for us to protect animals,

especially wild animals. Some people kill wild animal because of money. It’s

illegal. Beside, because of the development of society, human needs more space

to live in, so we explore the forest. Animals have less space to live in. The

number of wild animals decreases year by year. It’s high time to take actions to

protect wild animals.
