The third and fourth day of the Chinese New Year are generally accepted as inappropriate days to visit relatives and friends due to the following schools of thought. People may subscribe to one or both thoughts.

1) It is known as "chì kǒu" (赤口), meaning that it is easy to get into arguments. It is suggested that the cause could be the fried food and visiting during the first two days of the New Year celebration.[citation needed]

2) Families who had an immediate kin deceased in the past 3 years will not go house-visiting as a form of respect to the dead, but people may visit them on this day. Some people then conclude that it is inauspicious to do any house visiting at all. The third day of the New Year is allocated to grave-visiting instead.

Spring Festival is very important in China.We always celebrate every  year ,and everyong likes  the Spring Festival very much.

Before Spring Festival , the people often do some shopping in the shopping mall,they buy the new ciothes,something to eat  and so on.

On New Years eve, the family will get together to eat meal.

Chinese New Year is a lovely festival. So I bought some beautiful flowers. Before Chinese New Year, my family went to the shopping mall and bought a lot of things. There will be a big dinner for every family. My family eats the big dinner together. I was very happy in Chinese New Year.

The annual Lantern Festival arrived, and I came to my grandmas house with a

happy mood.

My grandmother had already prepared the lantern for me and my sister, and I

was a smiling piggy, with a lovely appearance and a little belly. Sisters is a

small dragonfly, its wings are like real, able to move back and forth. Before

dinner, grandma asked me and my sister to shine a lantern on the granary and

corner, and grandma said that the place would not be a worm in the four

seasons.

After dinner, we again outside fireworks, daddy is holding a big fireworks,

in the middle of the yard, a ignition, scratching, see flames, the fireworks

into a golden ball, flying in all directions, so beautiful, my sister and I the

excited jumped down.

Spring festival is the most important festival in China. During Spring festival, people visit their relatives, sending their best wishes for a new year. Children are the happiest in spring festival. They will receive red envelopes that contain money as new year presents. They can also play crackers and fireworks. Whats more, they are given a lot of freedom, which they have dreammed of for a whole year. During Spring festival, there will be plenty of foods. Thats why many people put on "holiday weight" after Spring festival. When it comes to food, there are many festival specialties. The world famous Jiaozi and Chunjuan(spring roll) have even been accepted by foreigners as fast foods. Spring festival usually comes in Feburary, sometimes earlier. Spring festival is on the first day of the first lunar month.Chinese people most like the Spring Festival.During Spring Festival,Chinese people like having meals with their families,playing fireworks in the open air.My sisters and I played fireworks on that day.We had many fireworks.

They were very beautiful.They were running into the sky and breaking into pieces.They looked like flowers in the sky.We were very happy and excited.After that,I made a wish.I hope that,we can have a happy and healthy life next year and everyone in my family can be happy.

will christmas replace the spring festival?

christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in china. christmas cards become popular with students. people hold christmas parties and exchange christmas girts. a lot or tv and radio programs about christmas are on. meanwhile the spring festival is less appealing (有吸引力的)to youngsters. thus some people wonder whether christmas will replace the spring festival.

this worry is fairly unnecessary. why ? one reason lies that christmas only affects christians，college students and joint-venture (合资企业)workers. another reason is that christmas is mostly celebrated in cities. few people in countryside show extreme interest in this exotic(带有异国情调的) festival. by contrast，the spring festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family.

i think，it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the west，a lot of western holidays have been gradually introduced into china. for us chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals. for centuries chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. and we will treasure the spring festival forever.
