However, advertising is not always truthful. A product is often misrepresented. The advertiser exaggerates the benefits of the merchandise he wants to sell. Thus, he misrepresents the truth. All agree, however, that the word Nian, which in modern Chinese solely means year , was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year.

One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one bite. People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said, I hear say that you are very capable, but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents? So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.

After that, the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god. Now that Nian is gone and other beasts of prey are also scared into forests, people begin to enjoy their peaceful life. 这时，我用“炮”吃了“卒”，又掉出“马”来吃“车”，对方赶紧出“车”，我乘胜追击，一口气吃了“马”和“炮”。正当我高兴之时，对方突然用“车”吃了我的“马”，接着又消灭了“炮”。我很沮丧，感到没有机会了，就退回老家。而对方则用“连环车”和“炮”，一连干了“马”、“相”、“兵”。

My Opinion on Cheating in Examinations 我对考试作弊的看法

It is known to us all that some students cheat in examinations at school.

As students, we often take examinations at school, but sometimes we have too many examinations which are too difficult for us. On the other hand, some of us are lazy and dont work hard at their lessons. So when taking examinations, they sometimes cheat in order to get better results to please their parents and teachers.

In my opinion, it is wrong to cheat in examinations because it breaks the rules of schools. We students should be honest and try to get good results by studying hard instead of cheating in examinations. Whats more, we should improve our study methods and get well prepared for examinations.

Everyone has their own habit. I have some living habits. I will take off my

shoes and put on the slippers when I arrive home. And I get used to drink some

soup before having dinner. What’s more, I have to keep my room light on until I

fall asleep. If I am forced to change anything about this, I will be very

uncomfortable. For example, if I don’t wear slipper at home, I will be very

uncomfortable. If I can’t drink soup before dinner, I can’t eat anything. And I

can’t fall asleep if the light is off. This is my living habit. Maybe I will

change it one day, but now I can’t receive any change about them.

With the development of our society， energy in the world bees more and more

limited， so it is quite important for us to save energy and to protect our

environment。 As a student， there are a lot of methods we can do to save energy

at home。 For example， first， we can turn off the light as well as other

appliances when we are not using them。 Second， recycle the waste water， paper

and other waste so that we can reuse them。 Whats more， it is suggested to use

public transportation more instead of private cars.

Above all， everyone can make a great contribution to our environment。 I

hope I can learn more to develop new and clear energy， like energy from the wind
