Lying at the center of Beijing, the Forbidden City, called Gu Gong, in Chinese, was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now known as the Palace Museum, it is to the north of Tiananmen Square. Rectangular in shape, it is the worlds largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. Having been the imperial palace for some five centuries, it houses numerous rare treasures and curiosities. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace Museum is now one of the most popular tourist attractions world wide.

Construction of the palace complex began in 1407, the 5th year of the Yongle reign of the third emperor of the Ming dynasty. It was completed fourteen years later in 1420. It was said that a million workers including one hundred thousand artisans were driven into the long-term hard labor. Stone needed was quarried from Fangshan, a suburb of Beijing. It was said a well was dug every fifty meters along the road in order to pour water onto the road in winter to slide huge stones on ice into the city. Huge amounts of timber and other materials were freighted from faraway provinces. Ancient Chinese people displayed their very considerable skills in building the Forbidden City. Take the grand red city wall for example. It has an 8.6 meters wide base reducing to 6.66 meters wide at the top. The angular shape of the wall totally frustrates attempts to climb it. The bricks were made from white lime and glutinous rice while the cement is made from glutinous rice and egg whites. These incredible materials make the wall extraordinarily strong.

Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family, it is the dominant color in the Forbidden City. Roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles; decorations in the palace are painted yellow; even the bricks on the ground are made yellow by a special process. However, there is one exception. Wenyuange, the royal library, has a black roof. The reason is that it was believed black represented water then and could extinguish fire.

为了能拍到夕阳西下的美景，我们下午三点多抵达响沙湾沙漠旅游景点，检票后，经过水泥小道，前面就是缆车站。

这里的缆车是开放式，一辆车只能坐两位，听导游说这里的缆车路程是中国之最。随着缆车缓缓开动，沙漠美景就呈现在我们的眼前，在金灿灿的阳光照射下，举目四望，连绵不断的沙丘高高低低一直铺向远方，一望无际，让人仿佛置身于波涛起伏的金黄色海洋之中，远处的蒙古包像朵小蘑菇在那里自由生长着，沙漠之舟的骆驼远远望去像一群忙碌的小蚂蚁在运送“粮食”。我兴奋的难以言表。

最好玩的要算是坐沙车了，一会儿上沙坡，一会儿下沙坡，好像玩过山车一样，我们和风儿一起唱呀，！呐喊呀！开心地乐不可支！我们的欢笑声和广阔无垠沙漠融合在一起。

最刺激的是滑沙，在差不多五层楼那么高的陡峭沙坡上，坐在一个滑板，从坡顶滑下来，当我坐上滑板往下冲时，我觉得自己像雄鹰展翅一样。飞流直下。看着大人们一个个紧张的样子更可笑，但每个人还是勇敢体验了一会。

时间过得特别快，夕阳染红天边，我们迎着晚霞离开好玩的响沙湾！

今天虽然是去旅游（以往旅游的前一天晚上，我都高兴地睡不着觉），但我还是有点不开心，还不是因为有件事……

来到学校没多久，我们就坐上了开往东江纵队纪念馆的大巴车，这是我们第一次上车。学校给每个班都配了两个导游老师，我们班的这两个是超级亲切的，我们都很喜欢他们。可能老师们都是对女生好点的吧，上体育课，老师也是这样：跑步女孩子跑两圈，男孩子跑三圈。所以，这次的男的导游老师先让女生上了车。

我们一上车，就专挑前面的坐，男生都坐在了后面。差不多要到东江纵队纪念馆的时候，坐在后面的男生们很多都呕了，后面的座位就变得好脏啊！看着我也想呕了。

参观完那里后，我们又上了去龙凤山庄的车，这是第二次上车。但导游老师有说这次男生先上，他们把前面的座位抢了，把后面的座位“让”给了我们……第三次上车就是回家了，这次又到了我们上车。不过，这次上车并不是那一片片狼藉的模样，而是那一排排整齐的座位上没有一点儿脏东西，也没有那种难闻的味道了，这让我“欣慰”了许多。

算了，我还是说点开心的事吧。

我们去的龙凤山庄，它的大门里边，有一座“城堡”，可漂亮了！不过它在装修，有点“损”它的风采。我们还在那里玩了许多游戏：飓风飞椅、幽灵城堡、海盗船……

这次旅游可真是让我“难忘”啊！

坐了两小时的车程，终于来到了深圳的世界之窗。一下车，首先映入眼帘的是法国的罗浮宫，罗浮宫上面是江泽民爷爷题的四个字——世界之窗。听导游介绍，世界之窗是全世界名胜古迹的缩影。我们先到亚洲区旅游。我们看见了泰国的泰王宫、韩国的景福宫，它们那迷人的缩影，吸引了许多游客照相留念。特别是泰王宫，虽然是小小的模型缩影，但也充分地表现出泰国的风情，泰王宫的门，雕刻着一些泰国女郎，每个女郎的神情也各不相同，有的欢畅大笑;有的挤眉弄眼;有的舞动着身子……

My Summer Trip

I went to three cities to play during last summer holidays. They are Beijing, Dalian and HuHehot.

I went to Beijing more than eight times. Beijing is the capital of China. Its a big city. I am very familiar with Beijing. It takes an hour and forty minutes from Nantong to Beijing by plane. There are many tall buildings in Beijing. Its a modern city. My family visited the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Palace Museum, the Beihai Park, the Space Museum, etc. I went to the countryside of Beijing to go boating and fishing. It was very interesting. I went shopping in WangFuJing. I bought lots of souvenirs and other things. I like eating Beijing snacks. They are delicious. Dont mithe Beijing Duck. It is really nice.

Dalian is a beautiful city. Dalian is close to Beijing. I spent 5o minutes on the plane. Dalian is near the sea. I smelled the salty taste in the air. The roads are clean. There are lots of trees and flowers near the roads. There are many esplanades and Japanese buildings. There are some fountains in one of the esplanades. Some people flew kites and walked on the esplanades. We went to see the beach and the sea. The sea is blue. There were many swimmers in the sea. I lay on the beach to see the sky.Dalian is a very nice place to live.

Huhehot is in Inner Mongol. There are lots of large grasslands. The grasslands are endless. The sky is bright blue. There were a lot of horses and sheep. They were running or eating grass. I rode a horse on the graland. I picked some colourful flowers. We drank the tea with milk. There is a small desert, it was very hot when I walked on it. The sand could sing.

On the day of National Day, its sunny, I happily follow mom and dad to play in the taixing.

Lets go to the first department store. Into the door, we just like into another world. Mall flag and hang lanterns everywhere, wonderful music ringing in the ear, added to the National Day celebrations. We first shopping in a circle on the ground floor. When mom and dad to buy scissors, I asked his mother for a $1 COINS to walk to a large of doll before the game, the cast of a yuan of coin, then was a sweet music from the console rang I skillfully manipulate the remote controller, my eyes are eyeing near the hook caught a doll is a beautiful girl, its a pity that didnt catch. I see no holding, stamping a waste, the mouth said "boring!" And then go to mom and dad.

Its time for lunch, dad smiled and said to my mother and I; "You must be hungry? Today lets go to the a eat hot pot,?" "Good!" Im happy to jump three feet high, and urged mom and dad go quickly.

Last summer vacation，my family and I went to Qingdao by train.There was always sunshine and fresh air，which made us so fortable.We went to the seaside，the sea was as blue as the sky，and bathing in the sunshine on the beach， was really an enjoyable thing.I also picked up a lot of colorful shells with my little sister.There we bought many interesting souvenirs，I was planing to send them to my friends.We ate many tings there，such as fish，prawn，and so on.They are very delicious.Then we lived in a clean and tidy hotel，and the price was not so expensive.I like Qingdao very much，and if I got a chance，I hope to e here again，it is such a beautiful and interesting place.

Hi, This is Kankan. I reported these things. First, I went boat riding. Some of the Dams were Parker and Hoover. I saw a sunset, a dog rock and an elephant rock. I slept in a hotel called Quality Inn. It was a fantastic day!

Today, I went to Oatman to fed donkeys. They are wild ones. I bought a bag of donkey food. I fed a baby that was brown. I fed a white mom. I just loved it. It was a good day!

Today, we went to Petrified national park. We went to a trail called Crystal Forest. We saw Petrified wood. They are like gems. By the continental drift, it was hard for plants to survive. How they turned petrified was, they fell in a river and they got covered by ash and they waited to be petrified. I enjoyed the day more than anything.

Today, I visited Hopi land. It was a Hopi village.There were three Dormitories: First Mesa, Second Mesa, Third Mesa. I visited a man named Ernie. He has a workshop. In his workshop are all amazing local jewels. He gave me a Opal. It was violet blue. There is fire in it. Today is a stupendous day!

Today, I went to drive in Monument Valley. We almost bumped our butts off. We made our own monument. We went in Monticello to go tothe restroom. It was a science lab. I copied a wolf on a computer. I also used handles to control tarish liquid that has iron in it. I also also did was control a ball. Last, I made a rose for mom and much more. Today is a supertastic day!

Today, I hiked on a trail in Arches national Park. It was the longest trail I ever hiked on. It was a rocky and dangerous mountain. I was extra exhausted. When I was at the top, WOW! It was an arch called Delicate Arch. It looks like Athena looking over everybody’s eyes to see if they are obeying rules. How can a loose little arch stand so high. So today was a miracle.

Today is Lunar New Year. I spent it at Las Vegas. We went on a super fast roller coaster. It was funny. We went backwards lots oftimes. We felt good. When we got off, our legs were very wobbly. As you can see, I grew up.

《不用电的空调》

世界上怎么会有不用电的空调呢？你一定感到惊奇吧！不用着急，且听我为你慢慢道来。

这个不用电的空调，是在大自然的鬼斧神功下完成的，它是一个神奇的山洞，位于花垣县长乐乡跃马卡村，它有个神奇的名字，叫犀牛洞。

这一天，在老师的组织下，我们来到了犀牛洞风景区。刚到犀牛洞，映入眼帘的是青山绿水，荷花成片，阵阵晨风迎面扑来，给人一种心旷神怡的感觉。但我没有忘记此行的重要目的，就是进犀牛洞看看，因为早就听说里面的景更是美不胜收！

在老师的组织下，很快我们就准备进入犀牛洞了，我的心情既兴奋又有些紧张，记得来之前老师特意嘱咐我们多带件衣服，我想这大热天的，为什么还要多带衣服呢，想必这犀牛洞定有特别之处。这时，洞口的门开了，一阵寒风顿时迎面扑来，我不禁打了个寒颤，仿佛一下进入了冬天。跟随着大家的脚步，我走进洞口，真感觉到温度一下降了下来，简直比家里的空调还是凉快。

进洞之后，眼前马上呈现出无数色彩斑斓的美景，各种奇形怪状的钟乳石在五光十色的灯光下显得格外美丽动人。特别是那“龙口银牙”，它本来是一个大石头，中间不知怎么裂了一个缝，缝中一排排坚锐的“牙齿”滴着水，在灯光照耀下，显得有些吓人，但又有种说不出的美感。往里面走，就看到“象鼻山”了，这是令我印象最深刻的一处风景，那是一块大大的石头上，长出了一根长长的鼻子，活灵活现，太像大象的鼻子了，真想摸一摸，看它会不会喷出水来？

洞里真是太冷了，还没走到一半，我就感觉自己仿佛被关在冰箱里了，好在我听了老师的话，多带了件衣服，现在起了重要的作用——让我穿着它，继续往前欣赏。同行的人们，指指点点，这里看看，那里碰碰，有说有笑。一会儿，我们又到了“趵突泉”，三个大大的喷涌出来的“泡泡”，让我感觉到特别的惊奇。还有“神笔垂挂”，仿佛一支大笔立在洞中，让我立刻想到了神笔马良，这个美丽的犀牛洞，不会是神笔马良画下来的吧？这时，听到有人说：“快看，真像！真像！”真像什么呢？好奇心驱使我赶紧走过去，一看，那个钟乳石的造型真像毛主席爷爷啊，难怪好多人往里面丢纸币，以求健康平安，祈求幸福。这真是让我大开眼界。

一路上，还看到了很多美景。这些美景之所以能一直保留下来，我想可能是与这洞的气候有关，因为冷，所以不那么容易风化，所以能凝固成各种各样的造型。这不用电的空调犀牛洞，让我深深佩服大自然这个设计师把犀牛洞设计千姿百态、如此美丽。

游览完犀牛洞，我的心被深深的震撼。由犀牛洞，我想到了祖国的大好河山。我想说，我爱犀牛洞，也更爱祖国这片土地了。
