海底的鼠鱼一旦遇到了天敌，肠子立即产生一种气体，肚子急剧膨胀，使体积增大好几倍，如同一只充满氢气的气球，迅速浮上海面，逃出敌手。

隐鱼自我保护的方式很妙，时常躲进海参肚子里，从肛门进去，从口中出来，有时海参遇到侵害，经常会丢下下半截，隐鱼就在劫难逃。大家不用为海参担心，因为这也是海参的自我保护方法之一，再过几天，海参就会长出新的下半截。
