《老人与海》讲述的是老渔夫桑地亚哥在大海上捕鱼，为了生计与大海、鲨鱼搏斗的故事。在前期的84天捕鱼中桑地亚哥一无所获，第85天他孤身一人前往深海，经过努力，终于捕到了一条大马林鱼。在返回的途中，遇到了群鲨的袭击。桑地亚哥与群鲨搏斗，用尽了仅有的工具和力气，成功赶走了鲨鱼，可他捕到的大马林鱼却被鲨鱼吃光，啃得只剩下鱼骨。

读着读着，我的脑海中不时浮现老人捕鱼过程的搏斗场景。想想自己为了一点小失败、小问题、小困难，而气急败坏，不能坚持到底的样子，我很惭愧。文中的老人虽然没有成功地保住自己的成果，但他面对种种比自己强大得多的困难，能够迎难而上，没被困难吓倒，坚持到了最后。他是一个生活的强者，一个让我敬佩的强者！

细想自己，在生活中、学习中常有畏难的情绪，遇到一点点困难就想绕着走。如我的坐位体前屈一直没有进步太大，是因为自己忍受不住平时锻炼的疼痛。在数学学习中遇到难题，总以各种理由来安慰自己，觉得自己没有学过奥数，不懂就不懂，或者觉得自己其他科目都很优秀，小小短板并不会给自己在班里的名次带来影响。总是等父母来指导我，缺乏自己专研，克服难题的那股韧劲。

还记得那段时间，我的心情非常低落，似乎一切都在与我作对。我以为自己已经很努力了，可考试还是连连失利，于是我变得闷闷不乐了，总会搞砸一些事情——不是走路时摔跤，就是不小心打翻水杯。我无数次想过放弃我那不可能的目标，就在这时，我读了《老人与海》。一时间，我被这书中的老人给深深地感动了，他是多么的勇敢——在疯狂的马林鱼面前，他没认输;在恐怖的鲨鱼面前，他没认输;在厄运面前，他也没认输。而我只是遇到这么一点点小挫折，我怎么能认输呢?于是我又一次振作起来，朝着我的目标不断前进着。

这让我不由想到了老舍写的《骆驼祥子》中的主人公祥子，他与老人是多么的像啊，同样有梦想，同样有坚定的信念，却都遭遇了种.种不幸，但他们在命运面前都不曾放弃过，不曾认输过。

虽然，老人和祥子都只是在作家笔下构造出来的人物，可是想想：人类不一直在和自己的命运做着斗争，他们不愿只听从上天的安排，于是他们不断地创新、发展，不断探索大自然，走出了非洲大陆。
