A man may usually be known by the books he reads as well as by the company

he keeps; for there is a companionship of books as well as of men; and one

should always live in the best company, whether it be of books or of men.

A good book may be among the best of friends. It is the same today that it

always was, and it will never change. It is the most patient and cheerful of

companions. It does not turn its back upon us in times of adversity or distress.

It always receives us with the same kindness; amusing and instructing us in

youth, and comforting and consoling us in age.

Men often discover their affinity to each other by the mutual love they

have for a book just as two persons sometimes discover a friend by the

admiration which both entertain for a third. There is an old proverb, ‘Love me,

love my dog.” But there is more wisdom in this:” Love me, love my book.” The

book is a truer and higher bond of union. Men can think, feel, and sympathize

with each other through their favorite author. They live in him together, and he

in them.

A good book is often the best urn of a life enshrining the best that life

could think out; for the world of a man’s life is, for the most part, but the

world of his thoughts. Thus the best books are treasuries of good words, the

golden thoughts, which, remembered and cherished, become our constant companions

and comforters.

Books possess an essence of immortality. They are by far the most lasting

products of human effort. Temples and statues decay, but books survive. Time is

of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh today as when they first

passed through their author’s minds, ages ago. What was then said and thought

still speaks to us as vividly as ever from the printed page. The only effect of

time have been to sift out the bad products; for nothing in literature can long

survive e but what is really good.

Books introduce us into the best society; they bring us into the presence

of the greatest minds that have ever lived. We hear what they said and did; we

see the as if they were really alive; we sympathize with them, enjoy with them,

grieve with them; their experience becomes ours, and we feel as if we were in a

measure actors with them in the scenes which they describe.

The great and good do not die, even in this world. Embalmed in books, their

spirits walk abroad. The book is a living voice. It is an intellect to which on

still listens.

There are many arguments about the advantages and disadvantages of examinations. Some people think that examinations can help them review the lessons regularly, while others maintain that too many examinations have frustrated them.

To me, I think an examination is a good thing for both teachers and students. Teachers can find out how much the students have grasped and then improve their teaching; students, on the other hand, will learn what their weak points are and then study even harder.

All in all, we should not waste time arguing whether examinations are good or not. What we should do is to try to improve the exam system and try to adjust it to our different requirements.

Currently, some cities are considering a food ban on subways, which has sparked heated discussion. Some people say food should be banned because of the trash and rats they attract. And, garbage from discarded food can cause track fires. Beyond sanitary and mechanical concerns, food can also cause fights, as was discovered last week by one passenger who criticized a woman eating steamed stuffed bun on the subway.

However, some others are opposed to the idea. They argue that people like eating in the train in the morning because they dont have enough time to eat at their houses or restaurants. Sometimes that may be the only time or meal a transit rider may be able to eat especially when traveling long distances. Besides, there are people, for example diabetics, who do require food at various times to maintain blood-sugar levels.

Personally, Im against the ban because of the huge inconvenience it would cause to commuters, and the expense involved in enforcing it. Still, I believe we should have a little common courtesy. I think we all have responsibility to try to treat our subway system and fellow riders with respect, and that extends to food as well.

当我睁开惺忪的眼睛，看到雨住了，天晴了，太阳出来了。我赶紧推醒妹妹准备快速离开这里。可是当我们准备走下树屋的时候，惊呆了，简直不敢相信自己的眼睛，昨天我们经过的草地，我们曾经走过的路已经无影无踪，取而代之的是一片深水。昨天的雨下的太大了已经看不到来时的路，连雨林中的草地也全部被淹没，水看样子已经很深了。于是我和妹妹一起动手，准备做一条小船，离开这个是非之地。我们在绑在树上的梯子上，又加了许多树枝，在树枝上铺上芭蕉叶，做成了一个简易的小船，又用树枝当桨，就这样坐上自制的小木船上朝着太阳的方向向雨林外面划去，正当我们满怀希望，觉得即将离开这片雨林的时候，看到的一幕又把我们吓得魂飞魄散。原来，在水中，我们看到了一群食人鱼向我们的小船游来，在慌乱之中，想起了背包中还有熟肉，于是我快速的把背包中的肉拿出来用力扔向远处，食人鱼好像闻到味道一样，向肉的方向游去，我们趁着这个间隙，奋力地划船，快速离开了这片是非之地。终于，我们在筋疲力尽的时候，离开了这片雨林，来到了那片我们看到的宽阔的海滩，最终回到了熟悉的，温暖的家。

这次探险真的是一波三折，又惊险又刺激呀!

I like to listen to music so much, because music can smooth my mood. My favorite singer is Leehom Wang. He is not only very handsome, but also very smart. He graduated in the top school and he is a music genuis. His great talent in music attracts me a lot. I will always stand by his side, he is an excellent music artist.

放学后走在回家的路上，夕阳拖着我长长的影子，天空都是灰蒙蒙的，鸟儿的叫声也有气无力，就连路上的石子都硌脚疼，心里别提多难受了。

一个人的角度，改变他的观念，不同的角度看问题，我们所想的也就自然不同，通常，人都是站在自我为中心的角度观察世界、理解世界、要求世界，被各自的利害关系所束缚，于是看到的多是对立、纷争和迷惑，感到的多是不满、沮丧与痛楚，这是因为被私欲遮蔽了双眼，颠倒了自我与世界的关系，将自我从世界中分隔出来，执著于自我而难以融入世界，在自己狭小的视野里自然也就难以把握世界的真相。要改变，就先改变看事、看人的角度，将心比心，推己及人，换位思考，角度变了，观念才能更加全面，更加接近真实。站在高山上，我们能纵观全局，置身入世中，我们能细致入微。

米尔顿说过一句发人深省的话：心，乃是你动用的天地，你可以把地狱变成天国，亦可以把天国变成地狱。人生一世，有时当我们刚跨出那一步还来不及准备就走了过去。有的无伤大雅，有的却大煞风景，有的成全了好事，也有的酿成了大错。无论人生遇到什么样的机遇，始终存在着两个机会，一个好机会，一个坏机会。阴差阳错本身并无善恶好坏之分，问题是阴差阳错中的你怎么对待这个机会，用什么样的眼光、什么样的高度、什么样的视角去对待。

站在高处，我们会体会到天地的开阔，置身人群，我们会品味到人事冷暖。

People seem to cant live without computer and smart phone, once they dont have smart phone at hand for a while, the seem to be lost and feel something miss in their life. When I talk to my friends at table, I find them always play smart phones or check on the text all the time. Though we sit face to face, the distance between us is so far. The high technology brings isolation between people. Some people dont often visit their parents and friends, for they believe that a call can solve all the things. 两个月的暑假，就这样飞快的结束了。假期里，爸爸妈妈带我去了很多好玩的地方，留下了许多美好的回忆!我们去了五龙河、大峡谷、野外探险等等.令我印象最深的就是大草甸.

我们一路经过了三个小时的颠簸，来到了壮观的“韩婆婆瀑布”，这里的河水清澈见底，一股股清泉从山间飞流直下，瞬间让我想起了李白的一首古诗;飞流直下三千尺......炎热的午后，河岸边的阴凉处，坐满了游客，我也挽起裤脚，踩在凉爽的河水里玩耍.因为时间原因，我们又匆匆赶往大草甸，顺着公路直达山顶，远远望去，蓝天白云，天空中还有几只正在自由飞翔的小鸟，山坡上柔软的草丛里盛开着各种不知名的小花，一片片绚丽的风景，美极了!我迫不及待地躺在草坪上，享受着这里的鸟语花香!

爸爸、妈妈搭完帐篷，我们一起来的晚会现场，在主持人的要求下，我积极参与了表演，跳了一段街舞，还得了小奖品.和小朋友们一起在舞台做了有趣的游戏.我特别的高兴.文艺晚会结束了，篝火晚会又开始了，大家围着火堆，尽情的跳舞，我也拉着我的好朋友一起和大家跳了起来.美好的时光总是过得很快，夜深了，大家伙都玩累了，回到帐篷里，唯独我还兴奋的睡不着，躺在爸爸的怀里，望着天空数着星星......

今年的暑假，我觉得特别的快乐、难忘!

每当回想起外婆对我无私的爱，我心里便涌起满满的愧疚。

六七岁的我正是活泼好动的年纪，每天在院子里“上房揭瓦”，比起当年大闹天宫的孙悟空，真是有过之而无不及。

一天早晨，下起了小雨。小院的地面被打湿了，走起路来一滑一滑的。爸爸妈妈上街买东西去了，顽皮的我在院子里快乐地追着一只无家可归的花蝴蝶。突然，我一个没注意，脚下一滑，“啪”的一声摔在了地上。也许是因为没追到花蝴蝶，也许是摔得有些疼，我坐在地上哭个不停!可能是我的哭声吵到了外婆休息，原本因养病一直躺在床上的外婆重重地咳了几声。

调皮的我见外婆醒了，哭得更加厉害。外婆慢慢地从床上爬起来，来到我的身边，从背后变魔术般地掏出来一个可爱的不倒翁，用手轻轻地摇了一下，说：“阳儿，你看，小小的不倒翁不论怎么摇摆不定，自己也能站起来，你也是一样的哟。你一定能克服困难，坚强地站起来。”听了外婆的话，我停止了哭泣。我瞧了瞧面容枯黄的外婆，又瞧了瞧那张大了嘴巴大笑的不倒翁，我好像一下子懂得了什么，自己站了起来……

外婆耐心地等我爬起来后，替我擦干了眼泪，又回屋找来了衣服，给我换上。后来，外婆因为本来就生病了，又淋了雨，病情加重了，又一次住进了医院。也就是那一次，外婆再也没有回过家，她永远地离开了我们。

天在下着大雨，雷声震耳欲聋，我哇哇大哭了起来……

如果时间可以倒流，我一定不再那么贪玩了，我一定会守在外婆的床前精心照顾她。可是如今，一切成了我心头抹不去的愧疚!
