facilitate our life with all kinds of newly invented products, such as computer,

digital camera and so on. The technology products indeed brings us convenience,

the old way of doing things has been challenging. Before, people like to write

The world is not only hungry,but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earths surface is covered with water. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. A limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture and industry. Let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. Did you know that to produce a single ton of steel, it takes about 91, 000 liters of water?

We all have to learn how to stop wasting our precious water. One of the first steps we should take is to develop ways of reusing it. Experiments have already been done in this field, but only on a small scale. For us, the systems are as important as the spacecraft.

周日，我和表弟、表妹一起在姥姥家楼下玩游戏，个个都玩得满头大汗、面红耳赤。为了让我们消暑解渴。姥姥从冰箱里捧出一个大西瓜，这西瓜又圆又大，青青的，条纹呈碧绿色。姥姥熟练地把西瓜切成一块一块，在楼上大声喊：“快上来，吃西瓜喽!”看着那一块块红瓤黑籽的西瓜，十分诱人。我们顾不上玩，连忙“噔噔噔——”地跑上楼。“哇，抢呀!”我大叫着扑了上去，表妹、表弟也蜂拥而上，如同一匹匹脱僵的野马，奔驰在“战场”上，我还差点被拌倒。大家都抢到了西瓜，狼吞虎咽地吃了起来，就像饿了三天三夜的乞丐一般。

舅舅也被我们这帮小馋猫的吃相给逗乐了，他说：“你们三个来个吃西瓜比赛好不好?”“好啊!好啊!”大家一致赞成。于是，我们围在一起商量比赛规则，妈妈来当裁判。“预备!开始!”妈妈一声令下，我便迫不及待地奔跑到桌前，选了一块的西瓜拿起便啃，瓜肉凉凉的，瓜汁甜甜的，让人回味无穷。不一会儿，一块西瓜便已被我啃得精光。我正想举手示意，只听表妹大喊一声：“我吃完了!”我大吃一惊，回头一看，不禁哈哈大笑：只见表妹的腮帮上沾着几粒瓜籽，嘴上满是西瓜汁，活像一个“花脸猫”。表弟由于求胜心切，忙中出错，没啃几口，西瓜就掉在地上摔成两半，只得再重拿一块啃了起来，错失了良机。最后，表妹荣登冠军宝座，我荣获亚军，表弟只好屈居第三。

比赛结束了，桌上瓜汁横流，瓜籽瓜皮一片狼藉，我们打扫完后，开始颁奖，表妹获“吃瓜高手”称号，我是“吃瓜能手”，表弟获得了“吃瓜失手奖”。“哈哈哈”在一片欢笑声中，“吃西瓜大赛”降下了帷幕，也为这个火热的暑假增添了无限乐趣。

今天，我们好不容易挨到了下午的综合实践课，迫不及待地想知道这堂课的内容。胡老师说：“我们的第二课堂活动又开始了，今天的活动内容是去杭州市建设博物馆——红楼参观!”胡老师的话音刚落，我们就又惊讶又高兴地欢呼起来。

烈日炎炎的太阳下，我们的队伍正浩浩荡荡地朝红楼走去。领头的班级就是我们三(5)班。

到了红楼，我们从一展厅至三展厅陆续参观。我很在意红楼的古代模样和用处。红楼以前是审判点，然后成了法庭，最后才变成了杭州市建设博物馆。国为它的墙是红色的，才被称为红楼。以前这儿有710平方米，现在只有496玉米了，原来这地方以前被拆了一块。

回来后，胡老师给我们说了韩国小朋友的身份。她二年级，是女孩子，而且就坐在我前面，她挤得我只有一点空间坐。

今天很特别，我把它写在日记里，这样就不会忘记它了。

Nowadays, many families have a dog or a cat as a pet. Some people think

that pets are good and helpful companies. Some of them even go so far as saying

that animals are as good as humans, and their rights should be respected .Senior

citizens are especially fond of keeping pet because they are always feeling

lonely at home and they see the cats or dogs as their partner.

But some other people do not like pets. They say that animals are noisy,

dirty and dangerous. They think laws should be made to forbid people from

keeping pets in cities and towns.

In my opinion, pets are loyal friends that will never betray us. Staying

with pets, we shall enjoy happiness and feel relaxed. Most important of all,

keeping pets helps people to reduce loneliness and forget their unpleasant

things for the time being.
