五年前我们穰东镇的环境很差。街道很窄，路面上又有很多垃圾。夏天会发出难闻的臭味，也会引来许多的苍蝇蚊子。河面上总是漂浮着一些塑料袋，瓶子，河水又黑又臭，令人不堪入目。一些工厂的废气黄烟滚滚，飘入空中，天空也经常是灰沉沉的，看不见蓝天白云。街中心的广场上坑坑洼洼，四周也没几棵树，随处都可以看见垃圾的影子。当然，也没人愿意到这儿玩。
