The generation gap is unavoidable in almost every family, which brings

about a number of conflicts in a family. In my opinion, to limit the bad effects

of the generation gap, each family should use the following three methods:

First of all, it is important that family members discuss openly about

their pleasures or sadness in childhood in family gatherings. This activity does

not only create a close relationship but also help build up understanding among

all members. For instance, once children are aware that their grandparents and

even their parents did not have a good upbringing during their hard childhood,

they will stop complaining about the previous generations’ obsoleteness. In the

meantime, once old people realize young people are nurtured in a new modern way,

it is easy for them to be tolerant of young people’s new habits or hobbies.

Secondly, people of each generation should not develop a very high feeling

about themselves. In order to do that, they should not think that they are the

only right people in their family because each person has his or her own

limitations. Teenagers would realize that their parents have to struggle with

pain to support them financially, and they would stop rebelling their

strictness. Parents would realize that their children’s new style does no harm

to their studies and stop imposing their own unsuitable standards on their

children.

Finally, the generation gap and its bad effects can be limited if all

members cooperate to build up a close-knit family relationship and a harmonious

atmosphere in which they are open and tolerant of each other. I strongly believe

that each family, by doing that, can enjoy a cozy atmosphere with minimum

interference by the generation gap.

Confidence is essential for everyone. Onlyestablishing confidence can we accomplish our goal. Nevertheless, many peopleespecially teenagers are lack of confidence. What a serious problem! How todevelop confidence?

Since we went to school, we have been educated to be polite, no matter to

Should Examination Be Abolished (取消)?

The examination system has come to be the main theme (主题)of modern education. One should take an examination andsucceed in passing it before he could be admitted， promoted or graduated. As it plays so important a role in the realm of education (教育的领域) it is under much criticism (评论) as to its validity (有效性) . People who are in favour of it try to develop this system more; those who are against it believe that such a system should be abolished. Should examination be abolished? In my opinion it should be.

Many people think that an examination is the only means to test knowledge， but， in fact， that is not true. A few questions given in an examination could by no means cover the whole field of the subject. Thus those who are able to answer them may be the poorest of the students and yet happen to know just a few points about that subject.

Id like to say that， because of the existence of the examination system， students pay so much attention to gaining high marks， that they often forget the chief purpose of education. The so-called clever students devote (贡献) themselves to the study of textbooks only. They， of course， know nothing but the skeleton (梗概) of knowledge. The end and aim of education， however， is to enable students to learn how to live. To do this， students must get themselves to do all kinds of training， physicalas well as mental. The present examination system has discouraged students from making such an attempt.

Moreover， since the students try so hard to put their lessons into memory in as short a time as possible， psychologically (心理上来看)， they soon forget the whole subject as soon as the examination is over. Surely this is one of the greatest wastes ever made in the history of civilization.

每个人对幸福的定义不同，所以对幸福的体会也不同。列夫·托尔斯泰曾说过，幸福的家庭家家相似，不幸的家庭各各不同。家庭不一样，体会到幸福的原因也不相同。有的家庭认为，老有所依，幼有所养，这也是幸福。有的认为，衣可蔽体，食可果腹也是幸福。

有一点，幸福是奋斗出来的，不是等出来的。无论贫穷或富有的家庭，幸福都是奋斗出来。勤勤恳恳工作为家挣出来幸福，抛头颅洒热血为国家换取和平安宁的幸福。

幸福看似像泡沫，其实却溶于我们的生活点点滴滴。关心父母，给父母做一顿饭，父母感到幸福；恋人之间无论异地恋，还是就在身边，那一个实际行动对对方来说就是幸福；对陌生人无意之间一个温暖行动对他们来说也是幸福。

幸福不是仅存于那些明显可见的事，也体现在细微之处。不可进行比较，每个幸福都是独特的，人与人不一样对幸福概念的体会不同。

所以，我们要体会人生幸福，奋斗实现人生幸福。

古人云：“有得才有失。”每个人在生活中总会有得失，当面临得与失时，我们最重要的是需要一种坦然的态度，这样才能乐观地面对生活中的种种挫折，最终取得成功。

《岳阳楼记》中说：“不以物喜，不以己悲。”此中的“物”指的是物质，当人们面对物质得失时，最不能把握的便是自己的情绪，因为小小的得失就会大喜大悲。然而范仲淹却能够超脱世外，他收获的是精神食粮，如果我们能够拥有“不以物喜，不以己悲”的精神，那么无论有什么困难，都能够冷静面对。相反，如果我们过于在乎得与失，就会变成患得患失，《论语·阳货》：“其未得之也，患得之；既得之，患失之。苟患失之，无所不至矣！”患得患失的结果就是影响我们的性格，我们会变得优柔寡断，从而一事无成。所以，在得失面前，千万不能患得患失。

荀子的《鱼我所欲也》：“如使人之所欲莫甚于生，则凡可以避患而有不为也，如使人之所欲莫甚于死者，则凡可以避患而有不为也。”得与失是衡量一个人价值观的标准。不同的人在决策同一件事时，都会有很多种结果。根本原因不同的人对于得与失的把握有所不同，通常只有认为得大于失，那么才会去做这件事。如果得失不能得到平衡，那么只能放弃。如果是一位战士，那么他首先考虑到的肯定是战争的胜利；如果是一位教师，那么首先想到的是采用什么方法把学生教育成为一个大写的人；如果是一位商人，更应该会注重得失，得大于失才是他赚钱的基础。不同的人有不同人生观、价值观、社会观，而如何决定得与失才是一个衡量一个价值的标准。

“得之我幸，失之我命。”这是一种面对得失的乐观态度。在一定程度上，得与失是不由人控制的；如果遇到天灾，得与失也是上天注定，在这时，拥有一种乐观积极向上的态度显得尤为重要。《塞翁失马》又何尝不是如此，塞翁因为失去了马，之后又引发生了一系列悲喜之事，但不管周围的人对他是怎样的态度，有怎样的评论，他都是坚持自己的观点，面对得失泰然处之，最终使他的儿子免去了一场兵灾。道家宣称”无为而治”，“无为”并不是真正的没有作为，它说的是人们在遇到得与失问题时，能够用一种平常心去看待，冷静地去思考问题，从而最终解决问题，走向成功。

得与失本就没有那么绝对，保持本心才是面对得失的王道。

罗曼·罗兰曾说：“一种理想就是一种力。”理想，是人类心灵世界的核心，理想信念对我们的理想起着指导性作用。我们应该追求远大理想，坚定崇高信念，因为远大理想是我们健康成长、成就事业并开创未来的精神支柱和前进的动力。

树立远大理想，能够让我们目标清晰。 “大志与良谋，大志是个首要条件。”这是著名的军事家与文学家曹操所言。这里的大志也就是我们今天说的远大理想，不但可以指引我们前进，还会帮我们塑造高尚的人格，甚至形成伟人一般的毅力，就有动力与勇气去完成我们需要完成的事情。有远大理想的人也会得到别人的尊重与爱戴，因为他们散发出一种光像太阳可以给人正能量。他们胸怀的目标会让他们有一种“争取做个莎士比亚，其余的事由命运决定!”他们会一直努力，无论达到与否，都能使生活有意义。

Last Sunday, I went sightseeing with my friends in the Fairy Lake Park. I was appreciating the beautiful lake when a scene that didn’t go with its harmony came into my eyes. A couple were cheering loudly on a boat, letting out the noise disturbing all the visitors around. They even threw litter and spat into the water, completely ignoring the sign nearby “No throwing litter into the lake!”

How could they lack public morality so much? I felt sad about them. And I was totally against what they did.

Every individual should think about others’ feelings and avoid polluting the environment while they are enjoying the beautiful scenery; otherwise the Fairy Lake Park would not be fairy at all and lake might be a pool of dirty dead water some day. Dragon Boat race Traditions

At the center of this festival are the dragon boat races. Competing teams drive their colorful dragon boats forward to the rhythm of beating drums. These exciting races were inspired by the villagers valiant attempts to rescue Chu Yuan from the Mi Luo river. This tradition has remained unbroken for centuries.

Tzung Tzu

A very popular dish during the Dragon Boat festival is tzung tzu. This tasty dish consists of rice dumplings with meat, peanut, egg yolk, or other fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The tradition of tzung tzu is meant to remind us of the village fishermen scattering rice across the water of the Mi Luo river in order to appease the river dragons so that they would not devour Chu Yuan.

Ay Taso

The time of year of the Dragon Boat Festival, the fifth lunar moon, has more significance than just the story of Qu Yuan. Many Chinese consider this time of year an especially dangerous time when extra efforts must be made to protect their family from illness. Families will hang various herbs, called Ay Tsao, on their door for protection. The drinking of realgar wine is thought to remove poisons from the body. Hsiang Bao are also worn. These sachets contain various fragrant medicinal herbs thought to protect the wearer from illness.
