Taking away basic aid status and slashing our school budgets is a recipe for

educational disaster in our school. The future lies with our children. They must

have access to high quality educa1ion.

My husband and I have worked hard to be able to live in a school district

that provides high quality education for our children. Cutting funding in

districts like ours will have a negative impact on property values.

The school that my daughter attends is hardly wha1 I would describe as a

"rich" school. Parents are asked to pay for books for all the classes, science

supplies and for their students to participate in the performing arts among

other items. If our school is to remain a world leader in technological

development, cutting our school funds is the worst possible choice to make.

Education funds should not be diverted away from education.

对于中国考生来说，英文写作一直是最为头疼的事情之一。那么考生为什么会畏惧英文表达呢？为什么有些考生背了一两万个单词却仍然写不出好的文章呢？找到了这一系列问题的答案，就真正抓住了提高写作能力的关键。

英文写作困境可以归纳为三类：

困境1：面对一个题目，根本无话可说，即便用中文，也写不出内容。

面对一个话题，考生之所以无法写出连贯的文字，是因为缺少写作素材。那么素材是什么呢？其实也就是我们所说的“言之有物”中的“物”。无论是四、六级写作，还是考研写作，或是雅思、托福、GRE、GMAT、SAT写作，考生之所以无法取得高分，根本原因在于其日常积累的英文论证素材以及论据素材过于贫乏，根本无法将零星散落于大脑各个角落不成体系的素材组合起来，形成一篇逻辑严密、语言优美地道的文章。因此，英文素材的积累和素材库的建立可以真正帮助中国英语学习者和广大英语考生提高写作能力，走出英文表达困境。

正如前面所提到的，英语写作素材包含两类：一类是论证素材，即对于论点进行理论分析的素材。例如：论证竞争机制的重要性、论证环境保护的必要性、论证艺术的价值等。一类是论据素材，即可支持论点的相关事例。例如：“钻石教父”雷维夫与DeBeers公司的竞争促进了整个钻石行业的发展这一事例，可用来支持“竞争机制的重要性”的论证；引用美国政府参与环境保护的例子可佐证“环境保护的必要性”；贝多芬、巴赫、凡高的例子可说明伟大的艺术家们的艺术作品是如何推动人类文明发展的，并用以例证“艺术的价值”。

其实，只要多掌握适用于写作测试的英文写作素材（论证素材+论据素材），就已经为写出有理有据的文章打下了良好的基础，这也是写作的前提。因为，任何语言学习，或者说任何学习过程，都遵循“输入—输出”模式。如果没有输入，则永远不可能有输出；若没有好的输入，则永远不可能有好的输出。因此，语言学习有一条永恒不变的真理：不听永远不会说，不读永远不会写。这里的“听”和“读”就是输入环节，“说”和“写”就是输出环节；只有输入了好的英文素材，才能在需要的地方进行输出。

In the Spring and Autumn Period, a farmer in the State of Song was one day working in the fields when he saw a rabbit bump into a tree stump(树桩) accidentally and break its neck.

在暑假时，我种下了向日葵的种子。它像一颗小小的饱满的瓜子，过了好几个小时，一颗矮矮的小幼苗!难道是小幼苗萌发了吗?真不可思议。

这一天，向日葵的茎又长高了一些，在最上面有两片小小的叶子。觉的好可爱呀!小小的、圆圆的摸起来滑滑的，好像擦了一层面膜一样。

在一个阳光明媚的早晨，突然，我忘记给向日葵浇水了！我赶紧跑到向日葵面前，一看向日葵还好好的，没有什么变化。

今天，我再次去观察我那株向日葵，惊奇的发现：我的向日葵竟然已经有19cm高了，叶子也一起变大了，现在已经有10cm了。它的枝干上已经长出了细毛，摸上去痒痒的。可是茎的下面是紫色的，上面是绿色的。我得上网查查。

今天，我的向日葵长到30到50厘米高了，茎长得很粗，而且有五株长出了小小的花蕾，花蕾就像一朵绿色的莲花，里面是黑黑的籽，被绿色的外衣包裹着，好像一个黑人盖着绿被子睡觉呢！一想到过一段时间就要开花了，好兴奋哦！

许多人都不喜欢向日葵。它没有桂花那样的清香，没有荷花那样的朴实，也没有牡丹那样的华丽。我一开始也是这样认为的，不过经过了那一次的事情后，我似乎明白了些什么。

一天，母亲弄来了一些葵花籽。

一开始我看母亲拿了一把瓜籽，还以为她是拿来吃的呢。她后来往我这里走过来，把瓜籽轻轻地递给我，让我把它放好。我奇怪地问：“为什么不把它们吃了，把它们放好的话会潮的。”母亲没说什么，只是一再地让我去把它们放好。我也就依了她，把它们放在一个麻布袋子里。

过了三两天，母亲让我把那些瓜籽拿出来。我便将一个麻布袋子给了她。她走到了后面的那块地里，用耙子挖了一个又一个小小的坑，便把瓜籽仔细地撒了下去。

母亲说：“记得，你要每天给它们浇水。”

反正天也会下雨的嘛，还每天浇水？我心里喃喃道。

所以最后我还是没有去给它们浇水，甚至在近几个星期内我看都没有去看它们一眼。令人郁闷的是近几个星期居然连一颗雨都没有下。直到几个星期后，我才突然想起来了那些向日葵。我知道，它们算起来，一定是死在我的手上的，我如何向母亲交待呀。不过，我还是壮了壮胆，马上跑到地里……

奇迹确实总在不经意间发生。

向日葵竟然已经长到我的腰上了。在最中间的那一朵，居然已经结了很大的果实了——这真是让我震惊万分的一幕呀！

我突然凝神静思起来：原来向日葵坚强求生的欲望是多么的可贵，而我们拥有如此美好的一片蓝天，享受着丰富的阳光与雨露，怎么就不该像向日葵那样去生活，去拼搏，去迎接更加美丽的明天呢？
