1、选好花盆。家庭盆栽向日葵需要一个约30厘米直径的花盆，盆里放一些塘泥垫底，再在上面铺一层营养泥。

2、播好种子。在春暖花开温度28度左右的时候，在花盆里挖一个4至5厘米的坑，把种子埋进去。

3、精心培养。一是由于向日葵植株高大，叶多而密，是耗水较多的植物，所以我们要每天给它浇一次水；二是因为向日葵喜欢充足的阳光，它的幼芽、叶片、花盘都有很强的向光性，所以我们每天早晨，要把它搬到阳光最充足的地方；三是由于盆栽向日葵的泥土有限，不能确保向日葵日后的营养，所以至少每一个星期要给它施一次肥。

如果想让向日葵结出瓜子儿，除了上述要求以外，还要授粉。但是家里一般都没有蜜蜂，所以家庭盆栽向日葵就只能做观赏用了。
