终于有一天，一个衣衫褴褛的痴呆老者来到这里，他正是约翰失踪了三个月的父亲!

父亲实在太棒了。小时候，我是十万个为什么，别的人总是被我问住，最后不知如何回答我的问题，可父亲总能给我答案。像什么“河马是什么类型的动物”“头发长的人更容易产生灵感吗”各种稀奇古怪的问题，父亲总是微笑着轻松地回答，我就高兴地看着父亲，一脸的崇拜，还不忘找小伙伴炫耀：你们还没找到答案吗，我爸爸告诉我了，让我告诉你们吧！

后来，我不再有那么多为什么，也不再什么都问父亲。直到有一次一道数学难题让我冥思苦想了两天，还没有结果，我有些沮丧，甚至对询问的母亲耍起了小脾气。父亲看着一脸愁苦的我，主动请缨：“儿子，爸爸也来看看。”爸爸在书桌旁坐了一个下午，不知道他试了多少种方法。天暗下来的时候，父亲微笑着说：“儿子，过来看看，应该是这么回事了。”我举起大拇指为父亲点赞，暗自却想：父亲怎么也需要这么长时间呢。

第二天，奥数班的老师终于讲起了这道题，原来是一道有争议的难题。我的脑海里浮现出父亲伏案沉思的情景，不禁为父亲的渊博自豪起来。回到家，跟父亲说起，父亲淡淡地笑着说：“儿子，有一天，你终会发现，父亲知道的其实也很有限，未知的世界太广阔了。爸爸想告诉你，不知并不可怕，可怕的是我们失去了求知的勇气。”我沉思着重重点头。

是啊，父亲一直都是有勇气的人。我曾经多次见识过他的勇气。印象最深的一次是他一只手把一个小偷甩出了车门。当时，车上的人真多啊，可是没有一个人提醒那位被偷的老奶奶，更没有一个人敢去抓小偷。可父亲一个箭步冲过去抓住小偷的手，一把抢过钱包还给了那位满头白发的老奶奶。小偷恶狠狠地威胁父亲：“你找死啊，敢多管闲事！”父亲平静地说：“你，难道不是你家里的奶奶养大的，你有手有脚，却来偷老人的钱，还有人性吗？”小偷气急败坏地举起了拳头，父亲一个回合就把他摁在车门边，一边喊着司机开门，一边就把小偷甩出了车门，我看到小偷在地上打了几个滚，才定下身子。

后来，我问父亲，新闻里那么多有勇气站出来帮助别人与坏人作斗争的人往往得到的不是赞许，而是误解，为什么你从来不担心自己会惹上麻烦。父亲笑笑说：“我怕麻烦，但做的时候，却并没有时间去考虑是否会惹上麻烦。儿子，爸爸是个普通人，但爸爸是个有良知的人，我希望，你长大以后，做一个有良知的人。”

这一刻，我似乎更深刻地理解了父亲：父亲不再是童年的我眼中那个因为高大而显得强大的父亲，也不是那个什么都知道而让我无限崇拜的父亲，他只是他自己口中平凡的父亲，但在我心里，他是永远屹立的高山，那么巍峨伟岸。
