Dogs are not always well thought of, however. In recent years dogs in the city have been in the center of controversy. Some people have criticized dog owners for allowing their pets to soil sidewalks and lawns, although in some cities laws oblige owners to walk their dogs along street curbs. In turn, dog owners have argued that the animals serve as protection against vandals and burglars and thus protect their detractors as well as their owners.

When a person decides to own a dog, he should be prepared to care for it properly. For a dog to stay healthy it must be correctly fed and adequately groomed, and its medical needs must be met. Still others, such as the collie and the Welsh corgi, can herd farm or range animals. Each of the dogs just mentioned is a purebred. A mongrel dog, however--one with many breeds in its background--can just as easily fit into family life.

Dogs have been with humans since prehistoric times. Over the years they have performed various services. They have pulled sleds over snowy tracts. They have delivered messages, herded sheep and cattle, and even rescued persons trapped in the snow. Dogs have served as a source of food, too. The ancient Romans are said to have prized certain kinds of dog stew. The Aztecs of ancient Mexico raised tiny dogs, thought to be the forebears of the chihuahua, to feed the large carnivores in the private zoos of the Aztec rulers. In the past dogs have even been worshiped as gods. Recently, they have been used in drug research, medical experimentation, and space science. Soviet scientists launched dogs into space to test the ability of mammals to survive the rigors of space travel before people were sent up.

Dogs are trained as guard dogs in peacetime by the United States Army and other military services. Because of their keen sense of smell, dogs are used by police at times to track down escaped prisoners. Law enforcement agencies also rely on the dogs acute sense of smell to uncover illegal drugs. And specially trained dogs serve as the "eyes" of the blind, guiding the steps of their sightless masters around obstacles and hazards.

As far as I am concerned, something must be done to stop this illegal

action. We believe "no buying, no killing". First, we must make concerning laws

to protect these animals in danger. Second, we must take some measures to

protect animals effectively. Animals are our friends and part of our

environment. Third, we should raise peoples awareness to protect animals and

our environment. In this way, we can build a harmonious society and ensure a

sustainable development.

Animals are our friends.But how to protect them? government is working to protect all animals in danger,and has made lots of plans to save animals. On the other hand, we shouldn’t eat wild animals.We should keep them away from our dinner. That way,there will not be wild animals on sale. I think the hunters and killers will become fewer and fewer.

Last, we should protect the environment.We should stop people from cutting trees down. Without trees, wild animals will lose their home. And we will lose our animal friends. All of us should try our best to protect animals.

We need to protect animals better.We should give them fresh water to drink.We should make the forests bigger for animals in danger to live in.We should advice people not to kill animals beacause they are our friends!

Some people think that human needs for farmland, housing, and industry are more important that saving land for endangered animals.

Do you agree or disagree with this point of view? Why or why not?

In the past, there have been many endangered animals. Now they are extinct. Does it matter? Has our environment been affected by their absence? Has the quality of our own life been changed? The answer to these questions is “Yes.”

Yes. It does matter if we destroy an endangered species habitat to develop more farmland, housing or industrial parks. There is a delicate balance of nature. If one small part is removed, it will effect all the other parts.

For example, if certain trees are cut down, bats will have no place to roost. If they cannot roost, they cannot breed. If there are no bats, there will be no animal, or bird to eat certain insects that plague our crops.

Yes. Our environment has been affected by the absence of certain animals. Certain flowers are pollinated by butterflies, which migrate from Canada to Mexico.

Some of the breeding grounds of these butterflies were destroyed. Now these flowers are disappearing from certain areas. We will no longer be able to enjoy their beauty.

Yes. The quality of our life has been changed America used to be covered with giant trees. Now we have to visit them in one small park.

Rain forests around the world are being cut down to make room for humans. We will never be able to see or study this fragile ecosystem.

I would encourage us humans to look for other alternatives for our farmlands, housing, and industries. We have alternatives; the animals do not.

保护动物，与自然和谐

曾经，我就被一部有关动物的电视记录片深深地吸引。并不是因为难得见到这些凶猛的大型野生动物的新鲜感，而是那在莽原旷野中，驰骋天地间的自由与彪悍，是那捍卫生命、繁衍生息的勇猛搏斗和艰辛觅食的生命意志。

曾经，我见过一位摄影家从西藏拍摄的一幅照片，并为之振奋。那是雪地里一只双目凝视着远方的狼，那双在雪地里所独有的眼睛，坚定、深邃、英气逼人、摄人心魄。它的双目积聚着强大的力量，我想再奋勇无畏的人面对如此一双血腥的眼睛都会畏惧三分。它蓄势待发，随时攻击觅食或者反应攻击，捍卫自己生命的存在和尊严。不为别的，只为生存。

曾经，我观看过徐悲鸿的画展。一幅奔马图让人印象深刻。地面上扬起的尘土更突出了雄浑壮阔与豪迈。在铅灰色的乌云映衬下，越发荡起人潜在的一股力量，很莫名，只感到全身的血液在沸腾，就如同波涛汹涌，一发不可收拾。生命的存在，使它们凭籍着对生存的强烈渴望和不屈的生命意志，大范围地迁徒，艰苦地寻找水源和草场，在充满危险的静谧中顽强地生活着，构成茫茫草原上跳动的生命旋律，成为美丽草原上的生命风景线。

欣赏，是必然的。因为我们毕竟生活在钢筋水泥构筑成的空间里，有时感到很压抑，潜在的想宣泄一番，爆发出野生动物似的英豪气度。在无数次挣扎后，我们常常被这种野性的激情感染，渴望如它们一样盎然的生机勃勃，激扬奔放，不受任何束缚地去做回自我;聆听着它们强劲的生命节拍，在心灵深处回荡起强烈的回应和信念，终于领悟了人生。

正是由于自然界的包罗万象，有如此之多生灵尤其是野生动物的存在，才使人类在这个世界中不再孤独。它们不仅仅是人类的朋友，它们更是世界中与人类一样的平等的生命，有个性、有灵魂，更有无限的激情为自己生命的尊严而怒吼。自由、自信、奔放、激昂，生命本该如此。如果没有了野生动物，我们将与自然隔绝，到那时，我们该何去何从?人类的道路又会有多远?生命的真正含义该如何获取?我茫然了，无助袭上心头。只为人类自己的所作所为而感悲哀!

对于自然而言，每一个生灵都是平等的、自由的。自然界充满了残酷的竞争：有骄傲的胜利，有惨烈的失败，更有无情的死亡;有甘甜，更有艰辛和苦难;但是无论如何，不能也不会没有生命的激情。

自然竞争是残酷的、野性的，然而整个自然界是和谐的、完善的。人类来到世界，也是自然界的一个组成分子，向往野性，回归自然是人类内心深处埋藏着的本性。所以，我们更该约束自己，善待生灵，敬重生命，保护自然。地球上不能只剩下人类自己，地球也不只为人类而存在。

一幅画面在我眼前展开，一群充满野性的动物在呼唤!

在这个瞬息万变的世界里，有太多的冷漠与无助，然而，从小便穿梭在钢筋水泥筑成的石头森林的你，是否曾将自己扔进那片奇妙无穷的大自然，抛开所有的世俗与功利，去真切地体会一下生命最原始的精彩?

春天，万物复苏，百花争艳。朋友，你是否因为早春的寒冷，把春天紧紧地锁在了门外?不，你需要为自己打开一扇窗，去呼吸大自然苏醒时的气息!拨开枝条上覆盖的春雪，去寻找那一丝新绿!撩开心头的愁云，去享受那一缕缕明媚的阳光!你尽可以让那一片片绿养养你的眼睛，让那一阵阵泥土的芳香熏染你的鼻子，让一颗颗野果塞满你的嘴巴，让那一声声鸟鸣充满你的耳鼓。你可以抛开一切让你烦心的事，拽着风筝的线，在草地上尽情地奔跑;你可以避开一切让你不开心的人，蹬上运动鞋，在野外采摘一朵朵美丽的野花;你可以……

夏天，大自然开始昌盛起来。朋友，你是否因为夏日的酷暑，而遗忘了那一轮明亮的圆月?不，你需要走出房门，抬起头，去观赏眨眼的星星!靠近墙角，去聆听那不知名的虫儿的歌声!赤着脚走进欢快的小溪，去感受那淙淙的流水从你指尖滑过!当然，你还可以折一枝柳条编成环，再插上几朵花儿，把自己幻想成一个花仙子。

秋天，对许多人来说，是伤感而哀愁的。朋友，你是否因为害怕哪一片凋零的树叶触及你不堪回首的往事，而拒绝感受那金灿灿的秋天?不，你需要为自己珍藏一片火红的枫叶，纪念那燃烧的青春，哪怕是痛苦也好沉沦也罢，青春终归无悔!对了，我们可不能忘了那些沉甸甸的果实，它们在这个收获的季节里笑得正欢呢!你看，它们那胖胖的身体已压弯了枝条，迫不及待地要跌落下来!还有那“晴空一鹤排云上，便引诗情到碧霄”的秋天，正是文人墨客吟诗作赋的季节……是的，朋友，秋风吹来的不再是伤心的往事，而是那沉沉的希望与无尽的豪情!

冬天，冰雪裹住了世界。朋友，你是否因为冬日的严寒，而收起了那个银色的梦?不，你需要解开大衣，在自家小院里，做一个红鼻子的雪人，让它打开你记忆的门，回到天真烂漫的童年，你可以观赏那一棵棵挺拔的劲松在大雪中昂首挺立，你可以走近那一株株不畏寒冷的腊梅，看它静静地在寒风中微笑……

With the development of economic,people now living a better life.But at the same time,many of the earths animals have already died out.

Nowdays,more and more animals lost their homes and they have no choice but to face the sorrow of missing relatives and friends.What makes it comes about?What makes their living condition even worse?The answer is human!Some people cut down plenty of trees to make fortunes,which damaged the forest and made the animals lost their home.And there are also some greedy people even hunt for animals to make money,which lead a terrible result--a number of animals are in danger.

Each anmimal especially wildlife is our friend,they play an important role in ecological balance.So,lets take action,planting trees,buliding birdhouses and so on to pretect our earth.

随着经济的发展,人们现在过着更好的生活。但与此同时,地球上的很多动物已经灭绝了。

现在,越来越多的动物失去了家园,他们别无选择,只能面对失踪亲友的悲痛。它是什么?是什么让他们的生活条件更糟糕吗?答案是人类!有些人砍伐大量的树木让财富,破坏了森林,使动物失去了他们的家园。甚至还有一些贪婪的人寻找动物赚钱,导致一个可怕的结果,许多动物都处于危险之中。

主义每个动物特别是野生动物是我们的朋友,他们在生态平衡发挥重要作用。让我们采取行动,种植树木,建筑物的鸟屋等等来保护我们的地球。

动物是人类的朋友，我们应该保护它们。

壁虎是我们的好朋友，你可千万别小瞧它，如果你因为它不起眼就小瞧它，甚至有些人嫌它讨厌就把它赶走、杀死它，那么你就大错特错了，因为它能飞檐走壁吃掉害虫。你有没有想过如果你伤害它们的话，你的周围会有更多的小虫。所以，我们要爱护壁虎！

小狗也是人类的好朋友，它总能在我们孤独寂寞时，露出它那可爱的小脸逗我们开心，陪伴我们；它还能帮我们看守门户，保护我们的财产安全；它是警察叔叔的得力助手，能协助破案揪出坏蛋；小狗还是盲人的好帮手，保障他们的出行安全。

还有人为了能穿上狐皮大衣而捕杀狐狸；为了摆阔，而猎杀大象获取象牙。人们啊！快快停止这些可怕的行为吧！如果有一天，世界上没有了动物，我们会多孤独啊！地球会多冷清啊！让我们一起保护动物吧！

人类是生存在这个地球上的生命物种之一，我们在爱自己同类的同时，也应该尊重其他生命，善意对待和爱护我们身边的小动物。

每个人在一生之中，都会与各种生命相遇：小猫、小狗、小兔子、小乌龟??这些小动物是我们的伙伴、朋友，甚至家人。每一个有爱心的人，懂得生命意义的人，都会知道怎么善意关爱自己的伙伴。

被挖掉眼球的小狗、被汽油烧焦的小猫、被恶意投毒而死的动物??当这一桩桩骇人听闻的残害动物的事件不断发生时，我心里总有说不出的沉痛，我想这是任何一个有良知、有爱心、有正义感的人所不能容忍的事情。

虽然大多数人珍视身边动物带给我们的爱和友情，但是仍有人不负责任地抛弃他们的宠物，甚至虐待它们，于是才有了这一只只的流浪动物。

绝大部分城市流浪动物的生存状况令人十分堪忧：它们被遗忘在角落的生命，不受重视；它们身体遭受病痛的折磨；它们无时无刻不在忍受着残疾带来的痛苦；它们承受未绝育带来的生殖繁育风险，小宝宝一出生就面临着巨大的死亡危机；它们经常要面对酷暑、严寒和饥饿，四处寻找躲藏之处；它们时刻面临着各种危险，每一刻都有可能惨死在街边；它们甚至还要面对一小部分人为满足自己变态的心理而做出的种种虐待和伤害??

残酷的生存环境、悲惨的生活遭遇，使得我们身边的这些伙伴的生命凋零??

真正的爱是对弱者或蒙难者发自内心的悲悯和关怀，是不假思索伸出的援救之手。在此，我郑重呼吁各界尊重生命、关爱生命的有识之士：

1. 尊重生命，尊重动物，不吝啬自己的爱心；

2. 无论自己的宠物年老、体弱、生病还是残疾，都不放弃、不抛弃它们；

3. 保证动物不受饥渴、伤害和疾病威胁；

4. 保证动物有一定的自由，让它们生活无所恐惧，能自由表达天性；

5. 有能力和条件的人，对流浪动物进行有责任感的收养、领养、寄养；

6. 依法合理、人道的利用动物；

7. 不从非法商贩处购买伴侣动物；

8. 不虐待、不伤害流浪动物；

9. 将“关爱生命，善待动物”的理念传播给身边的每一个人。
