小说的素材来自于真正的故事：桑提阿果爷爷独自在海上打鱼，他已经有好久没钓到一条鱼了，有一天，一只大鱼咬住了他的鱼钩，桑提阿果爷爷想把它拉上来，可拉不动，那条鱼带着桑提阿果爷爷一直游啊游，大鱼游得精疲力尽了，桑提阿果爷爷把大鱼的鱼头和上半身绑在小船边上。但是桑提阿果爷爷在回去的路上遇到了鲨鱼，老人使出了浑身力气和鲨鱼搏斗，鲨鱼把能吃到的鱼肉都吃了，回到家时，大鱼只剩下不到一半，却还有800磅左右。

这本书让我受益匪浅。桑提阿果爷爷不被任何困难所压服，尽自己最大的努力与生活中的磨难做不屈不挠的斗争。他说：“一个人并不是生来就要给打败的，你尽可以消灭他，却不能打败他。”这种永不言败的硬骨头精神深深地刻在了我的心上，有也要像桑提阿果爷爷那样，永不言败。

孝敬长辈是我们中华民族的传统美德，我们作为新时代的小学生，同样也要孝敬长辈，我就是这样去做的。

“香九龄，能温席;孝于亲，所当职”。虽然这个年代冬季都有电热毯了，用不着孩子去替妈妈暖被窝了。但这种孝敬长辈的美德时时鼓励着我，让我在平常的生活中关心和关爱着自己的长辈。

一次，吃完晚饭，妈妈的腰酸背痛的老毛病又犯了。我二话没说，就把妈妈扶到床上，让她先躺着休息一下。接着，我把碗收拾到厨房，用热水洗刷碗、筷。虽然有点油腻，看上去有点恶心，但我还是把它们洗得干干净净的。最好还把餐桌擦了，把地上我不小心掉下的饭粒也拣起来了。哎，这时我才发现，也许就是我平时太爱掉饭在地板上，妈妈弯腰次数多了，才腰疼了呢，我心里一阵内疚。干完家务事后，我就到房间给妈妈捶腰和背了，我先用双拳捶妈妈的腰部，然后用双掌重叠在一起慢而有力地揉着，直到妈妈感觉疼痛有所缓解。捶完腰以后，我又开始给妈妈捶背了，这下我拿出我的拿手好戏――用脚后跟捶背，这可是我妈妈最觉得舒服的捶背方法。我的脚像打小鼓似的不停地捶动，虽然有的累人，但看见妈妈的病疼有所好转，我的心却是甜滋滋的。

还有一次就是今年去二爷爷家过年，晚上要睡觉时，看见我的祖母颤颤踮踮地拿着盆子去打水洗脚，她可是已经89岁高龄的人了。我赶紧去帮她端水，然后坐在小凳子上给她洗脚，我先把祖母的脚丫子洗干净，然后又给她搓脚心，还一边一洗，一边给她讲我们学校发生的趣事，乐得我的祖母合不上嘴，直夸我是一个懂事的孩子呢。

虽然这些只不过是生活中点点滴滴的小事，但我希望孝敬长辈这个传统美德能继续发扬光大，并且以身作则，从我做起，从身边的小事做起。

听妈妈说，九年前的今天，我出生于宿松县华阳河总场的三司医院。当年妈妈为了生我，产后大出血，在医院里昏死过去八个多小时，我差一点就没有妈妈了。至今为止，她身患罕见的怪病——席汉氏综合症，还是依靠服用激素药物来维持生活。爸爸也因此而丢了工作。

每当我看到妈妈虚弱疲惫的身体，为我们姐弟俩忙这忙那，而不懂事的我们经常为了饭菜的不合口味而大呼小叫时;每当我回忆起爸妈为了我们读书起早贪黑忙碌的身影时;每当我们在学习上遇到困难，父母再忙都会抽下时间不厌其烦地为我们解答时;每当我在生活上开小差时，他们都会及时地当头棒喝，积极地引导我们怎样做人时，……，心里不由自主地升起一种莫名的感慨，愧疚万分。

今天是我的生日，我们一家人开心地吃着面条。自今天起，我又长了一岁了。这个生日虽然没有蛋糕没有礼物，但是我觉得特别有意义!因为在这个特别的日子里，让我明白了许多许多，我一定要以崭新的面貌迎接新的一岁，做一个让父母放心、开心的好孩子!
