American culture is unique because it is nurtured， formed and developed under certain conditions， which are characteristically（特性）American. The major factors contributing to the making of this new nation and the forming of a new culture are the hard environment， ethnic diversity（多民族） and plural religion， which is quite different from other nations in the world. What is more， these elements are still influencing the American culture.

1. Rough Environment

The early immigrants who were English Puritans settled down in northeast part of American. The environment there was very rough but they believed the poor land could purify their mind so they chose the place along the coast. From 1607 to 1892， frontiers were pushed further west. The American frontier consisted of the relatively unsettled regions of the United States， usually found in the western part of the country. 庭院左侧是清澈的荷塘，荷叶上顶着一朵朵盛开的荷花，荷叶下一条条小鱼在追逐嬉戏;荷花里藏着一朵朵莲子，多么想摘一朵呀!“小娃撑小艇，偷采白莲回。不解藏踪迹，浮萍一道开。”白居易笔下的《池上》浮现在我的脑海里。我多想做一次白居易笔下的小娃，去尽情享受荷塘里无边的清香。

庭院右侧是厨房，厨房后有一片茂密的竹林。蝉不知在哪里，只听见“知了，知了”一片叫声。

抬头仰望瓦蓝的天空，低头看看院落前清澈的小溪，侧耳倾听鸟儿的啼叫，真是“人在画中游”啊，家乡给人的感觉真好!
