Christmas is amazing looking forward to day, especially kids. We held a Christmas party at school, many of my friends to come to the party. Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. No one knows the exact date of Christs birth, but most Christians observe Christmas on December 25. On this day, many go to church, where they take part in special religious services. During the Christmas season, they also exchange gifts and decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe, and Christmas trees. The word Christmas comes from Cristes maesse, an early English phrase that means Mass of Christ. The story of Christmas comes chiefly from the Gospels of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew in the New Testament.

The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back to the early Mesopotamians.

Many of these traditions began with the Mesopotamian celebration of New Years. The Mesopotamians believed in many gods, and as their chief god-Marduk. Each year as winter arrived it was believed that Marduk would do battle with the monsters of chaos. To assist Marduk in his struggle the Mesopotamians held a festival for the New Year. This was Zagmuk, the New Years festival that lasted for 12 days.

The Persians and the Babylonians celebrated a similar festival called the Sacaea. Part of that celebration included the exchanging of places, the slaves would become the masters and the masters were to obey. The ancient Greeks held a festival similar to that of the Zagmuk/Sacaea festivals to assist their god Kronos who would battle the god Zeus and his Titans.

The Romans celebrated their god Saturn. Their festival was called Saturnalia which began the middle of December and ended January 1st. With cries of Jo Saturnalia! the celebration would include masquerades in the streets, big festive meals, visiting friends, and the exchange of good-luck gifts called Strenae (lucky fruits). The Romans decked their halls with garlands of laurel and green trees lit with candles. Again the masters and slaves would exchange places.

Jo Saturnalia! was a fun and festive time for the Romans, but the Christians thought it an abomination to honor the pagan god. The early Christians wanted to keep the birthday of their Christ child a solemn and religious holiday, not one of cheer and merriment as was the pagan Saturnalia.

Some legends claim that the Christian Christmas celebration was invented to compete against the pagan celebrations of December. The 25th was not only sacred to the Romans but also the Persians whose religion Mithraism was one of Christianitys main rivals at that time. The Church eventually was successful in taking the merriment, lights, and gifts from the Saturanilia festival and bringing them to the celebration of Christmas.

Families with firecrackers, people wear new clothes, preparing New Year, before the Spring Festival, people go out, if met good friends, always mouth dont forget to say: "the streets!"

The Spring Festival, the children will get up early, to mom and dads room, the traditional New Year ceremony. The children of parents said some lucky though, my parents brought out New Years money, let the children happily. Everybody hope this year to luck, a thriving business.

Some friends and family together, taste the wine, talked some happy message. And the most happy is, we can take off to save money, and then happy running up the street to buy a lot of fun things, such as cars, buggies, toy guns, football, etc., and as long as our mouth sweet a bit, say more blessed penis, that can make a lot of money!

People have been playing late into the night, his mouth eating delicious fruit, setting off firecrackers fireworks in his hand... Adult children singing and dancing, potter to play with!

盼啊!盼啊，眼看春节就快到了，想到这，我不由得笑了起来，在春节前，

春节前，家家户户都灯火通明，家家都把房子打扮得别具一格，各有各的个性。他们把买来的年货放得满地都地。买来的年画怎么贴法，那就各有自己的风格和喜好了。有的正着贴，有的倒着贴，还有的歪着贴，各有千秋。人们把买来的菜全部都弄好了，只等春节一到，就可一饱口福了。家家备有鞭炮，人们穿上新衣服，准备迎新年，在春节前，人们一出门，如果遇上了好朋友，总是口中不忘说一句：“上街啊!”

人们杀猪宰羊，忙碌地准备着春节大吃大喝一番。

春节到了，小朋友们便早早起床，来到爸爸妈妈的房间，开始了传统的拜年仪式了。小朋友们对父母说着一些吉祥话儿，爸妈就拿出压岁钱，让小孩子们高高兴兴。大家都希望今年能够吉祥如意，招财进宝。

一些亲朋好友欢聚一堂，品尝着美酒佳肴，谈着一些开心的话儿。而最高兴的则是我们，可以大把大把地攒取压岁钱，然后就欢天喜地跑到街上去买很多好玩的东西，如小汽车、四驱车、玩具枪、足球等，而我们只要嘴巴甜一点，多说些祝福的话儿，那可就大赚一笔了!

人们一直玩到深夜，嘴里啃着美味水果，手里燃放鞭炮烟花……大人小孩们载歌载舞，忘情地玩个痛快!

Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, is credited with being responsible for introducing the custom of the Christmas tree to the British public by decorating the first English Christmas tree at Windsor Castle in 1841 using candles, sweets, fruit and gingerbread.

The popularity of the Christmas tree grew in Britain during the first half of the 20th century, with trees becoming bigger and more elaborately decorated with bells, baubles and tinsel. However, the onset of the Second World War resulted in a ban on cutting down trees for decoration and people resorted to having small, artificial tabletop trees bearing home made decorations. These were often taken down into the air raid shelters when the sirens sounded to provide a bit of Christmas cheer!

This all changed following the war, and large trees were erected in many public places to celebrate Christmas. The most famous of these is the tree in Trafalgar Square, London which is an annual gift from the Norwegian government to give thanks for the help they received from Britain during the war.

Today is December 25, Christmas.

Early in the morning, father, mother and I said: each other "Merry Chrismas!" Dad said, do they observe Christmas day in western countries like our Chinese Spring Festival. Mother immediately open a computer access to the "Christmas", "Christmas tree" and "Santa Claus" history and legend. I feel very curious, is also very interesting!

In the afternoon, my mother took me to square grain transportation by buying a Christmas tree. What a lot of people there! 今天是12月25日，圣诞节。

一大早，我和爸爸、妈妈互相说：“Merry Chrismas!”爸爸说，西方国家的人过圣诞节就像我们中国人过春节那样热闹。妈妈立刻打开电脑查阅了“圣诞节”、“圣诞树”和“圣诞老人”的来历及传说。我觉得很好奇，也很有趣!

我拿出了几天前悄悄地做给爸爸、妈妈的心爱的礼物。爸爸高兴地连声说：“Thank you! Thank you!”还把我抱起来了呢!我开心极了!

下午，妈妈带我去漕运广场买圣诞树。那里的人真多呀!妈妈给我买了许多礼物，有会唱“Jingle bell”的玩具圣诞老人，有传说中神奇的魔术棒……虽然妈妈没有给我买圣诞树，但是我已经很满足了。

回到家后，我把礼包打开，把圣诞老人放在地上，只见他边跑边唱“Jingle bell，jingle bell……”我们都被逗乐了。爸爸提醒我说：“礼物要好好珍惜哦!”我说：“好，一定!”

今天，真是一个快乐的圣诞节!

Christmas is a time for miracles.It is also a time when the dull things of daily life and the forecast of human hature gives way to a spiritual awakening.Allow me to share with you one truly wonder of Christmas.

Our miracle story comes from an incident that occurred in Flanders, Belgium, at the dawn of World War I. On December 24th ,1914, German and English troops faced each other from the relative safety of their ditches across which no man’s land lying between them. Suddenly, the silence was broken, not by gunfire, but by the strains of Silent Night arising from the German position. It wasn’t long before the English troops responded with a Yuletide hymn of their own. Then an amazing sight surprised the eyes of the English soldiers. A German soldier holding a small tree arranged with lighted candles began to walk across the land toward the English lines. This miraculous scene occasioned the declaration of a truce followed by English and German troops greeting one another, exchanging small gifts and singing songs of Christmas. Word of this incredible phenomenon reached the High Command of both sides.

On Christmas Day, both armies moved from their positions to engage in the killing of war at other battlefields. However, on Christmas Eve 1914 on a field in Flanders, there was Peace on Earth.

Christmas is a truly amazing phenomenon. The day and season perpetuate a miraculous, historical event as an annual presence that challenges an often rough, cruel, and egotistical creature — the human being — to become open and amenable to their Creator’s vision. The great miracle of Christmas continues in the performance of humane acts, moral honesty, and in the spiritual awareness of millions struggling to lead a life of grace.

It was Christmas Day yesterday. We had a Christmas party at school. Many friends of mine came to the party. After we said"Merry Christmas", we began to sing Christmas songs, such as Edelweiss, andso on. Then we told some Christmas stories, such as Christmas Father. rise and shine on christmas morning! the children are always the first ones to wake up, some even do at four. present wrappers everywhere! they look into their presents with a big smile on their face and oh dear….i hope no one’s disappointed. i feel sorry for anyone that got pink underwear. children play while dinner is prepared by the adults. the christmas dinner are usually eaten together by relatives. the tradition of christmas pudding and roosters are usually eaten with deserts afterwards. the rest of the day is usually games and fun before the good days all come to an end.

My winter vacation

我的寒假

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 o’clock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 o’clock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

寒假期间，我的生活没有什么不同的。我每天十一点醒来，洗完碗后，与我的父母吃丰盛的午餐。之后我玩电脑游戏，玩到吃晚饭的时候。晚餐后。我继续玩游戏玩到凌晨两点，然后去睡觉了。这就是寒假我暗淡无光的一天生活。

But I haven’t bored all the time. Sometimes I read the books, sometime I listen to the music or the radio in the bed，because it was very cold outside and snowy all the day. And I also meet some of my good friends during the vacation ,we have a very long talk about the life of each other in the past year and play table tennis tegether .And I watched the spring festival party of the CCTV in the last seconds of the 2011 year! I think this is the thing most people of china doing at that time.

但我不是所有的时间都是那么的无趣。有时候我读书，有时我听音乐或在床上听收音机，因为外面很冷而且一整天都在下雪。寒假的时候我也会跟我一些好朋友见面，我们会聊各自在过去一年里的生活，一起打乒乓球。我会在2011年的最后一秒钟看中央电视台春节联欢晚会!我认为这是中国的大多数人会做的事情。
