Young volunteers

Lu Hao is a middle school student in Guizhou, who joined the “1 helps 1” program of the Youth Volunteer Community Development Project last year. Every Tuesday and Friday he visits an old man who lives alone. “Mr. Zhao is weak and cannot do much for himself, so I give him some help. I help do some shopping, do some housework, or read the newspaper to him as his eyesight is not good.” He said.

For going on with my further studies， I took the entrance examination in a Senior Middle School last week。 I still remember there were more than three hundred candidates taking part in this examination。 For the first day， in the morning， Chinese was easy。 We were required to write a composition of 250 words on "My Home Life"， and give definitions and illustrations to twenty phrases。 In the afterno on， we took an English examination。 There were dictation， sentence formation， and analysis for oral English。 In the oral examination， I was questioned about my home life， my experience in the junior middle school and my future prospects。

Childhood is often regarded as a memorable and beautiful period of one’s life and I passed it happily as a grade-school student. My grade school days were really carefree ones. On ather occasion, I punctured the tires of a  parked inside the school by ing something sharppointed, leaving the principal frightened and bewildered after he had ticed that. Such were the happy moments in my life at that school. The happiest moment, to me and to all of my schoolmates, however, was the one when the school was letting out at the last bell of the day and we were rhing home as if we would never be back. Once, on our way home, a bunch of naughty students found a crickets hole and exerted themselves to inject water into it with loud cheers. The girls were  less frantic than the boys when they were having a good time at such games as jump-rope, hopscotch and battledore and shuttlecock.

i’m a tall and lively boy. i like playing basketball very much because it’s interesting. i like nba, too. there are many famous stars in it. such as alan, iveson, tim, donken, jordan, kobe, o’neal and so on. yao ming is in the nba, too. he’s chinese. he plays basketball well. he’s a center forward. he’s our pride. all the ball stars can jump, shoot and pour in the basket. so each game of the nba is wonderful. sometimes the players can perform miracles, i think.
