Every Chinese, who experienced 1980s, will remember forever the day November 6th 1981 when the China National Womens Volleyball Team defeated the Japan National Team (the so-called "Toyo Women Magic") with 3 to 2 at the 3rd World Womens Volleyball Cup in Osaka Japan. The virus has brought great disaster to human beings. I want to say to you,

"come on! We have a way to deal with this virus, we will win! "

In the past few decades, our Earth has changed a lot, but to the bad

direction. Among these changes, the air pollutions resulting from a huge number

of automobiles and coal-burning is almost the severest. The severe air pollution

alarms humans of the heavy load we have exerted on Earth by our insatiable

production and usage of automobiles. However, with the deepening of

urbanization, more cars are needed, which will make the air pollution worse.

Therefore, the following actions should be taken. First, we should apply the

most cutting-edge technologies in order to adopt new forms of energy as

substitutes for fossil fuels. Second, try hard to develop possible

transportation means, which are enviromental friendly. So that the citizens can

reduce the dependence on cars. In short, our humans should take responsibilities

for the air pollution and have to find ways to solve this problem.

1. 两弹一星

“两弹”中的一弹是原子弹，后来演变为原子弹和氢弹的合称;另一弹是指导弹;“一星”则是人造地球卫星。

1964年10月16日我国第一颗原子弹爆炸成功;1967年6月17日我国第一颗氢弹空爆试验成功;1970年4月24日我国第一颗人造卫星(东方红一号)发射成功。

中国的“两弹一星”，是20世纪下半世纪中华民族创建的辉煌伟业。

2. 恢复联合国席位

1971年10月25日，在联合国大会第26届会议上，中华人民共和国在联合国的席位得到恢复。确认中华人民共和国的代表是中国在联合国的唯一合法代表，中华人民共和国是安全理事会五个常任理事国之一。

占世界人口五分之一的中国重回联合国，是世界进步的需要，也是历史的必然。

3. 载人航天

1992年9月21日，中国政府决定实施载人航天工程，并将该项目命名为“921工程”。

2003年10月15日，中国第一艘载人飞船“神舟五号”成功发射。中国首位航天员杨利伟成为浩瀚太空的第一位中国访客。

之后，从“神州六号”到“神州十一号”，中国航天技术不断取得新突破。如今，中国已经成为世界上第三个独立掌握载人航天技术、独立开展空间实验、独立进行出舱活动的国家。

4. 港澳回归

1997年7月1日中华人民共和国恢复对香港行使主权，结束了英国在香港一个世纪的殖民统治;1999年12月20日中华人民共和国恢复对澳门行使主权，结束了葡萄牙在澳门442年的殖民统治。

香港、澳门回到祖国怀抱，大大推进了祖国的和平统一大业。

5. 青藏铁路

青藏铁路，是中国新世纪四大工程之一，是通往西藏腹地的第一条铁路，也是世界上海拔最高、线路最长的高原铁路。整个工程分两期建成，2006年7月1日全线通车。

青藏线大部分线路处于高海拔地区和“生命禁区”，青藏铁路建设成功解决了三大世界铁路建设难题：千里多年冻土的地质构造、高寒缺氧的施工环境和对脆弱生态环境的保护。

6. 加入世贸组织

2001年11月10日，在卡塔尔多哈举行的世界贸易组织(WTO)第四届部长级会议上，通过了中国加入世贸组织的法律文件，它标志着经过15年的艰苦努力，中国终于成为世贸组织新成员;也标志着中国在经过了15年的歧视待遇之后，终于享有了与其他世贸成员同等待遇的权利。

7. 2008年北京奥运会

2008年北京奥运会展示了中国作为世界大国的经济和科技实力。

改革开放30年风雨历程，中国在世界人民的印象中更多的是一个蓬勃的新兴经济体。北京奥运会则把“文化中国”传递给了世界，“绿色”“科技”“人文”的理念，深深地融进了传统奥运理念之中。

8. 成为世界第二大经济体

2010年，日本内阁府发布的数据显示，日本当年名义GDP为54742亿美元，比中国少4044亿美元，中国GDP超过日本正式成为第二大经济体。

自1978年改革开放后，经过三十多年的壮观增长，中国终于超过日本，成为仅次于美国的世界第二大经济体。

9. 国产航空母舰

辽宁号航空母舰，简称“辽宁舰”，是中国第一艘航空母舰，其前身是苏联海军的瓦良格号航空母舰。1999年，中国购买了因苏联解体而建造中断的“瓦良格”号，并继续建造改进。2012年9月25日，正式更名为辽宁号，开始在中国人民解放军海军服役。

2017年4月26日，中国首艘自主建造的002型航空母舰在大连正式下水，它是中国真正意义上的第一艘国产航空母舰，这标志着我国现代化海上作战平台自主设计取得重大阶段性突破。

10. 北斗卫星导航系统

中国北斗卫星导航系统是中国自行研制的全球卫星导航系统。是继美国全球定位系统(GPS)、俄罗斯、欧洲卫星导航系统之后的第四个成熟的卫星导航系统。

2017年11月5日，中国第三代导航卫星顺利升空，它标志着中国正式开始建造“北斗”全球卫星导航系统。2018年，我国陆续发射了多颗“北斗”全球组网卫星。2018年12月27日，北斗系统服务范围正式由区域扩展为全球，北斗系统正式迈入全球时代。

Aducation is not an end, but a means to an end. In other words, we do not

educate children only for educating them. Our purpose is to fit them for

life.

In some modern countries it has been fashionable to think that free

education for all can solve all the problems of society and build a perfect

nation. But we can already see that free education for all is not enough.We find

in such countries a far larger number of people with university degrees refusing

to do what they think is "low"work, and. in fact, working with ones hands is

thought to be dirty and shameful in such countries.

But we have only to think a moment to understand that the work of a

completely uneducated farmer is far more important than that of a professor~ we

can live without education,but we die if we have no food. If no one cleaned our

streets and took the rubbish away from our houses, we should get terrible

diseases in our towns.

In fact, when we say that all of us must be educated to fit us for life, it

means that we must be educated in such a way that, firstly, each of us can do

whatever work is suited to his brains and ability and, secondly, that we can

realize that all jobs are necessary to society, and that it is very bad to be

ashamed of ones work. Only such a type of education can be considered valuable

to society.
